Trying to avoid spoilers, I’ll just say that Bram Stoker got Dracula’s end all wrong. You’ll find out what really happened to him in this story set in California’s Sierra Nevada. Burchfield has done an excellent job of disguising the true story line, so surprises keep coming throughout the narrative. And the ending is, well, enigmatically intriguing. For the more faint of heart, I would not recommend reading this at bedtime. Nothing sadistic or anything like that, but the images and imaginations...more
