This book takes the reader through the Great Barrier Reef. The reef feeds, shelters, and protect the marine life that forms there. This book describes the marine life that lives there and what they might do. It also talked about coral, as well as endangered reefs and why they are classified as such. The illustrations for this book are colorful and realistic.

Great visuals; complex poetry! Since we narrowed our ocean studies to coral reefs, I wanted to provide the children with striking visuals that would resonate with them, and I think this book achieved just that. They love picking out the creatures hiding in the coral. Just wish the story was simpler; more appropriate for 2nd grade.
