My aunt who was an educator and had taught in one-room schoolhouses in Montana during the '30's through the 50's owned the book and recommended it to me. I put the book aside for awhile but eventually read it and have reread it over the years. I thought the story was excellent and probably portrayed the life that my aunt had known once upon a time.
