Rory lives in a not too distant future society much like 1984, where his free thinking ideas have no place and makes him basically an outcast in school and society. Ellen, a popular girl in school who lives by society rules, becomes drawn to him. But what can they do to destroy the current dystopian society and restore free will? This book explores what would happen if society lets technology and government determine everything that happens in our lives, and how much we should cherish what littl ...more

A truly gargantuan story that makes you think! Just finished. My heart is thumping like crazy! Haven't felt this exhilarated since I read The Fountainhead 11 years ago!

Thank you Warren for this most sublime experience!

I didn't know that these terrible items(wrist and ankle bracelets for house-arrest) were in his imagination before they became reality.

But who cares! We are alive! Life is beautiful! And everything will be great again! smile emoticon

Trust me, no book has made me feel so good since

Escaping America is a strange, frightening take on the big brother/controlling government story. It's not my usual fare, I loved Warren Fahy's Fragment and Pandemonium novels, and it was strange for me at first because of it. But! I liked it quite a bit. It would make a crazy movie. Never mind the message it offers about the way things are going in this country. The only reason it's not five stars, is because it's not my usual kind of book. But if you're curious, read it! The way he points out t ...more

Warren Fahy's ESCAPING AMERICA reads so much like a Young Adult novel that I wish he had toned down the sex, drugs, and profanity so it could be marketed as such. It reminded me a great deal of both RASH (Peter Hautman) and FEED (M. T. Anderson), YA cautionary tales about the ultimate price we pay in letting government and technology control what should be our own free thinking. Fahy's novel focuses on Rory and Ellen, two rebellious teens living in the near future, when a bloated government, wor ...more

A good story. The story went off on tangents sometimes that kind of slowed it down, but i can see the author being passionate about the ideas surrounding free will and whatnot.

One of those books I wish you could give a half star because i'd like to rate it 3.5 stars.
