What a moving, emotional book! I have to say it is the most I have ever cried reading a book, yet at the end I had a wonderful, euphoric feeling. What a friendship between the main characters Seth and Kaden, very deep, platonic love almost godly. What a lifestyle, heavy bsdm is definitely not appealing. I could open my mind to read about it, but it was sort of a turn off- not romantic. I can't even begin to explain how bewildered I am with this book. This is one of the most amazing stories I have ever read. It brought a smile to my face and tears in my eyes....many times. I have never cried so hard in my life while reading a book. We knew all along what was going to happen, but you can never truly prepare for it. This was a very touching, emotional book about friendship, trust, and love. Forever and beyond unconditional love. Love between a man and woman, men and woman, and two men whose friendship has spanned a lifetime.

Wow. I feel emotionally shellshocked after reading this. This is definitely one of those books that is going to stay with me. Forever.
I sobbed. Not just like a lot of tears, like 100%, full-fledged weeping. Many times. .... But I also laughed.
This book is beautiful. I don't know how else to describe it. It has also totally rearranged my definition of 'kink'.

I've just finished this book and I'm clutching my chest.
This was such an emotional read. I cried many times through it and it really did touch me deep.
I'm not a real fan of a lot of BDSM books to be honest but this book is so much more than that.

Honestly, is very difficult to write something about this book. For start, I was unable to stop crying in some parts of it. I thought I would cry more, but that's a good thing. Sometimes I read emotional books that make me cry, but it's because they are really playing all the right cards, and I feel quite silly, because I recognize I am being played, but I can't help it (sort of like when I watch Titanic, it doesn't matter that I'm resisting the tears, they always come in the end). Final thoughts: After reading a few more books since I finished The Reluctant Dom, I'm ready to give my final review on it. I wondered if I'd still feel the same way after some time had passed. The answer is YES. I LOVED it and this is why: it hit on several cylinders for me. It's sexy. Thought-provoking. Emotional. Different. And written well. I was engaged from the first to last page. What more could one ask for? Even though much of it was predictable, I couldn't wait to read what would happen...more

This is one of those books I read because there were so many rave reviews; but quite frankly, I thought it was highly over-rated. It was okay, but certainly nothing special. For a BDSM book, it was rather vanilla, and for a menage book, there wasn't much to it, either. It was supposed to be more than just the titillation factor, a look into a real life BDSM/Menage situation; but it never really delved deep into the issues of either. Everyone talks me how sad this story is. I had full warning and I thought I was doing okay when it hit me. I recovered and moved on and then again. I ended up not having to use tissues, but it wasn't easy.

I have wanted to read this book for ages, my new Kindle let me do just that. There were a myriad of reasons I wanted to read it, it sounded interesting and, for both personal and professional reasons, it seemed a must read. What a book. I actually had to wait a few days after reading it because it was so emotional. Kaden and Seth are best friends and have been since they were kids. Kaden and Leah have been married for 20 years. Seth has gone thru 3 wives and finds himself at 40 going back to school and restarting his life. I dont even know what to rate this. It was a dnf for me. Not because it wasnt good but because I dont understand it. I can't fathom how bdsm can "fix" someone with such major issues as what the heroine had. Then have her moving into a relationship with another man because her husband was dying and she *needs* bdsm to survive?? how do you even grieve?- I dont know, it was too hard. So I quit.

This book....where to I even begin? This is one of the more beautiful books I have read. It explains a lifestyle that most of us do not understand, and it does it in such a beautiful way. The fact that one of the characters in the book did not live this lifestyle is a great way for the book to explain it all in a way we can all understand. I absolutely ADORED this story. This was a first time author for me and she blew me away. I cried like a slobbering fool and that was even before Kade died. And no, that is NOT a spoiler...it's in the blurb for the book. Kade is dying. And still knowing this, I cried so damn hard, I had to take a break...several times...to continue to read the raw emotions that are spilled on the pages.
