A huge fan of Jane Austen, Danielle hopes to find her own Mr. Darcy when she leaves Colorado to attend art school in London. Of course she knows it's silly to wish for that, naive even. But she's met enough males who lacked respect for women, a growing trend it seemed. And at nineteen...well.... However, on only her second night there she gets lost and is threatened by a s...more

I just finished “Fateful” and thought I should write a review before going on to the rest of the series.

The romance was well-written and so very hot (in a clean YA way). I was feeling the characters’ passion for each other and swooning the entire time. If you love sweet romances, you’ll like Danielle and Ethan’s story. Ch. 8 was probably my favorite. I could envision myself right there with the characters! The descriptions are breathtaking.

The writing really makes you feel like you’re part of th...more

Nineteen year old Danielle Darcy who is a huge Jane Austen fan and a karate whiz. Leaves Colorado to stay with her aunt Charlotte, uncle Nick and her cousin Brianna in London while attending art school. She hopes to find her own Mr. Darcy when she's there, of course she knows it's silly to wish for something that, naive even. But in the past she has always seen men lacked respect for woman, a growing trend it seemed... However that all changes on her second night there in London, when...more

I have to admit...I was a bit skeptical of this book when I was asked to read it by the author for the purpose of reviewing. I LOVED Twilight with a passion but have found it almost impossible to enjoy another vampire or paranormal book since, so I was convinced I wouldn't enjoy it. This book was an exception. I really liked it!! Fateful is about young Danielle who moves to London to go to school there and live with her Uncle, Aunt and cousin. Soon after her arrival in London she is attacked, bu...more

Thanks Cheri for creating a paranormal book that I feel comfortable letting my teenager read!

I enjoyed the vampire world that Cheri has created. The book starts off with an attack that is foiled by a good vampire. It starts off with a creepy feel to it. Cheri builds up to the when Danielle finds out that there are really vampires by creating the lore and local stories before hand.

Danielle is visiting her relatives in London. She has come from the United States to go to school. She finds everythi...more

This book is a phenomenal paranormal young adult read. The plot concerns star crossed lovers, Danielle and Ethan. The problem with their relationship? Danielle is mortal while Ethan is a vampire.

Danielle moves to London early in the book to stay with her aunt, uncle, and cousin. She plans to go to school there. The story leads right to action, Danielle is accosted...only to be saved by Ethan. They experience an immediate connection. However, Danielle coul...more

This is a young adult book about Danielle and Ethan. Danielle moves to London with her aunt and uncle to attend art school. During her first trip around town with her cousin, she gets lost and has to find her way home. Danielle is a girl with no since of direction. She gets lost and has a run in with Lucas, and then gets saved by her angel Ethan. Danielle later learns the truth and why she needed to be saved. Ethan hates the course and searches desperately for the cure. This is a great book that...more

This book really surprised me! I went in with fairly low expectations, thinking this would be a Twilight knock-off, but in many ways Fateful was actually better than Twilight! Now, when I first read Twilight it was the very first vampire romance book I'd ever read and that was why it blew me away and I loved it. Since then I've read MANY YA books and paranormal romance books and have come to the conclusion that Twilight pretty much sucked. Now on to Fateful. I really liked the twist the author p...more

This book is about vampires and love but its nothing like Twilight. This book was a refreshing and welcomed view on vampires. And the main girl character is a strong young woman that can take care of herself. If you love Jane Austen then this book is perfect for you. Cheri is an amazing author and has a way of pulling you in with her stories.

Poorly written copy-cat book with contrived situations and annoying characters. I downloaded it because I was looking for something to read while on a trip. I should have just banged my head against the plane window repeatedly instead - at least then I would have just had a headache instead of a headache AND all of that sappy language going through my mind. Take my advice, don't be wooed by the $.99 price it takes for the electronic download and use your money to buy a candy bar instead.

This book is very well written with lovable, relateable characters. The book is an easy read with an interesting plot and an exciting twist! (And I am not talking about the fact that the love interest is a vampire).
The story is full of details and description and plenty of fantastic "one liners".
Many have argued that the book is too much like Twilight, but in all reality, you will find common traits with any vampire romance novel. (Meyer's idea of sexy vampires was not original and if you thin...more

Awful book, horrible writing and annoying characters. We already have Twilight for lame, misogynistic vampire antics. We dont need a rip off of twilight , written by what seems like a 13 yr old. We dont need another dumb teenage girl being glorified by a holier-than-thou vampire because they have some soul deep connection.I read about a third of the book and couldnt take it anymore. I mean , the author hasnt even tried to change the situations and the premise of the story at all. Its just a renditi...more

Sorry but really not enjoying this book. I am a big reader & happily read through some badly written books ignoring spelling mistakes but as an English person this book takes the biscuit!! Where did this lady learn English slang? It's not cute to write with it, I note most of the good reviews appear to be American, just wonder if any other British feel the same? I just came across the use of the word pictures :0/ erm a picture is something a camera takes or something you hang on a wall, see...more

This book was not at all what I had expected. Of course, I expected it to be a romance; after all, Danielle has a thing of for the fictional hero, Mr. Darcy, in "Pride and Prejudice". She hopes to find her own Mr. Darcy in England when she goes there to live with her aunt, uncle, and cousin in order to attend art school. She does meet her Mr. Darcy; however, Ethan (as he is named) is more than just a mortal man. He is a vampire. This was NOT what I expected because nothing I read about the book...more

I am not a fan of vampire stuff, so I was really surprised at how this book pulled me in. I couldn't put it down. I loved the clean (and very yummy) romance. I loved the characters. Danielle, an art student studying in London and staying with her uncle and aunt, is committed to finding a man that will value her and treat her like a lady. Ethan is amazing! A gentleman through and through, brave, genteel, thoughtful, romantic, respectful, fun, playful, gorgeous... sigh! Oh yeah, and he's a vampire...more

One of the newest trends that I’ve come across most recently since the release of many different ebook readers is the self published author. While this is a good thing as more works are going out that are worth the read, it does involve some that aren’t. Luckily this book isn’t like that. I stumbled upon this Kindle version while skimming through the $0.99 ebooks that are offered for the Kindle (the price is now 2.99, but it’s still a stea...more

Okay, a lot of reviews keep going on about how the book is so similar to Twilight. Before I buy a book I mostly read a few reviews so when I started reading, this was constantly on my mind.
But really, after a few chapters it became obvious that this is an amazing story, and that it isn’t the same as twilight. Sure there are some similarities, but that’s because they are both about a girl falling in love with a vampire.
But now enough about twilight and more about Fateful.
    The story is really well...more

Normally, I am not one to read other reviews before writing my own because I never want to even inadvertently be accused of copycatting other people's thoughts and work. My reason for choosing to break my own rule in this case was because I wanted to see if others saw and felt the sames things I did when reading this book. It was a delightful story and perfect if you're one who enjoys sweet YA paranormal romance that is heavy on the romance and lighter on the faster plot-driven pacing. From the...more

I vcw to never read a book that even seems like a vampire fiction ever again. This was not original or unique. Girl meets mysterious boy. Boy turns out to be blood sucking vampire who loves girl for no real reason. Girl freaks a little when she finds out the truth but goes back to life threatening situation with "PERFECT" boyfriend anyway. Girl's life gets put in further danger by said boyfriend.

Just changing names and places does not make it less of a copy-cat novel. The author said she put her...more

Whoo, finally finished this. This story overall was very ho-hum, not much going on, and yes, a little Twilightish at times in some of the events that went on.

This is a very SWEET story. Danielle, the main character, is an innocent young girl who probably should have been born a century earlier, given her mannerisms, voice, fashion, and ideology. This is fine though when she meets century-old vampire, Ethan, who wishes girls were exactly like Danielle. Honestly not much goes on in this story othe...more

Where to begin...? Well, let's start with the MC Danielle. I didn't really care for her. She was insecure to a point that I think she needed therapy. For a girl who has a black belt in martial arts she needed a good dose of attitude to go with it. She often came off as a helpless, pouty child. The only time we get to see her with any fight at all is towards the end of the book. Once the climax was over, so was her bravery. She was like Bella in Twilight, but the watered down version....more

To be honest: I didn't finish this book. It is entirely possible the the second half of the book gets better, but I'll never know. I had to force myself to get as far as I did (about half way) and just couldn't do it anymore. I don't usually like to leave negative reviews because I'm a writer myself with hopes of one day being published and I know how hard it is to write something and share it with everyone and then hear that people didn't like it. BUT...this book needed a LOT of help! The writi...more

This has a lot of Twilight-ish sort of similarities, but I guess when you are writing about nice vampires who choose not to feed on humans, you tend to get that. I did appreciate the no love triangle thing. Just two people fighting to stay together. I didn't have to pick sides or love one fabulous guy over another. :) It was a fun, romantic read.

I also have to say that I appreciated the no foul language and sex, although there was plenty of sexual tension and kissing.

Yes, it sounds similar to Twilight, but it’s actually got an original take on vampires. The only similarity is that Ethan is a vampire and Danielle is not. I liked Schmidt’s take on vampires, I thought it was more believable and I liked that there was some hope that they could maybe change. It made it more believable that there would be good vampires, etc. I also really liked that both Ethan and Danielle not only had high standards, but they also believed marriage was a positive thing (something...more

When I first read this book, I read to compare it to others and to find faults and holes in the plot. I constantly tried to second guess the author and figure out the plot as it went along. In fact, since the author is one of my best friends, I would email her with questions as I tried to guess where the story was going. While a male and not necessarily interested in vampire romance books, I did enjoy the book. And by the end I was pleasantly surprised by the plot....the way the book turned and...more

I really, really liked this book! I found that after awhile, I couldn't put it down. I loved that it took place in London. I loved the twist to the vampire story and the Frog Prince references. I think the writing is better in this book than Twilight, and I love Ethan's personality better than Edward's. There were some small similarities to Twilight, but I liked Ms. Schmidt's cursed version and the fact that Ethan is more a Mr. Darcy type. I also liked that Danielle is a black belt in Karate and...more

    INGENIOUS!

I LOVED THIS BOOK! If you love fairytales, this is a book for you. The characters, the plot, and the setting are fantastic. From the beginning, Cheri’s writing drew me right into this story. I could just image walking down the streets of London while having to watch out for treacherous vampires or hiking in a wooden field looking for magical fairies. I enjoyed this story so much. Fateful had romance, danger, and a perfect ending to this book. Let’s face it, who doesn’t love when a man...more

This was a really good book! It usually takes me 70 pages to finally get into a book, but with this one I got into it by the second chapter and I didn't want to put it down!
I love vampire books, and I love to see how different authors put different twists on them. This is by far the most unique take on vampires.
I also like the pure innocence and yet strength and integrity of the characters... the good guys anyway.

This was pretty well written, but boy did it scream TWILIGHT. The plot was almost identical for the first part of Ms. Meyer's books about discovering vampires, etc. I wish that Ms. Schmidt had not stuck to the well-used I-love-you-but-want-to-kill-you vampire theme. There was a lot of potential for this story premise, but unfortunately it fell into the Twilight rut. I liked the Twilight books, but there is more than one way to tell a vampire love story.
