Ahora que le dieron el Nobel a Vargas Llosa me vinieron a la memoria, mis encuentros con su obra. Estaba en la prepa, cuando el maestro de literatura nos habló de “La Casa Verde” y de “La Ciudad y los Perros”, libros escritos por un autor peruano, del que no había yo oído hablar antes. Era la época del boom de 100 años de soledad y de García Marquez. Me enteré así que existía Mario Vargas Llosa, aunque nunca leí ninguno de los dos libros.

An amazing collection of essays. There is so much truth in them, and they are on a diverse range of subjects from abortion to Barcelona in the 60s. Various Llosa is truly a genius.
