Re-read December 10-11, 2012 - just re-read this book, and I don't know what the hell I was thinking!! Probably a three star book for me this time. The conflict was annoying and there wasn't enough action, too much talk!

Disini karakter hero nya agak beda nih, Dunford bukan seorang Lord karna keturunan, meskipun dia keturunan bangsawan kaya raya, tapi dia baru mendapatkan gelarnya karna warisan yang tak terduga. Dunford juga digambarkan sebagai pria yang nice. Henry digambarkan sebagai wanita tomboy yang jarang pake gaun, dan sedikit rendah diri, yang membuat dia mengurung diri di estates tempat dia merasa nyaman.

After being underwhelmed by Quinn's Brighter than the Sun this book was such a pleasant surprise. I do love a good historical romance!

This was the third in a series focusing on William Dunford- a strong character in other two novels "Splendid" and "Dancing at Midnight." The heroine is Henrietta Barrett, "Henry" a charming character whose been living in the country managing a farm. William becomes her guardian, friend and lover. Contrary to the belief of my mate, I positively do not spend all day reading, well not all day every day!
But I did manage to read this yesterday ... in my defence purely because it was only 391 of quite large print, and I am after all an inordinately quick reader, especially if I an engaged with the characters.

This book had it all perfect, until the last few chapters of course which led to only 3 stars from me. The characters were interesting,both Dunford and Henry react in accordance to the outline expect after the-so-called-villain f the story shows up with the address of Dunford's mistress. This was the 2nd Julia Quinn novel (and the 3rd Historical Romance novel) i read. I thought this book was good at the beginning because I loved how Henry tried so hard to make Dunford leave her place and how Dunford knew what Henry had planned for him but still join the game.I also loved that they finally fell in love with each other (a playboy falling in love with a tomboy is something i would love to read) but then everything got boring. Finally we get to see Dunford's HEA moment and it was a good one. He fell hard and fast and I really enjoyed his love, Henry, she was fun and unique. I enjoyed many facets of this book, but I can't say that I enjoyed the book as a whole. The quirky, funny, witty, falling-in-love parts were almost overshadowed by TBM pain & angst. And the back-and-forth inner dialogs that both Dunstan and Henry (Henrietta) have with themselves became endlessly maddening.

Hmm, so you’d think that the hero being Dunford and all, I’d pick this as the favorite in the trilogy. That really didn’t hold true for me. Although I loved this book and the characters, Splendidremains my favorite. But this one is still a close second. Maybe it was because this is the last in the trilogy. I hate reading final books. They always make me sad. That’s not the point! In truth, I thought this was a lovely read, and I’m glad I took the time to open it.

this was a really entertaining book that had a great pace and lots of humor. i had read this book first before i had invested in the rest of the series and it works as a stand alone novel but fit smoothly also into the series were we develop a clearer understanding of the chracters and the world in which they live.

After Splendid n Minx was very much eager for Dunford's story but i was a little disappointed by the ending otherwise the story was good,the humourous scenes were damn funny and loved Henry very much and when she is being given how to be a proper lady lessons those were damn funny scenes

Yeah. I read a romance book. I needed something that was kind of popcorn-y, because I've been reading so much stuff that was serious business, or just really deep and heavy (like the prophet), or law-school-related. I wanted something fun, and Julia Quinn is the only romance writer I've ever read, and I like her well enough.
This book was okay. Just kind of okay. Not one of her best. But okay. I did like the fact that it was set in the country and in London - I thought the contrast was fun.

Dunford was, well, a charming character. I've wanted to read about him from the moment I encountered him in Emma and Alex's tale. Henry was not a typical heroine and I just enjoyed the way her relationship with Dunford developed, especially during the first few chapters. Their banter was quick and easy and natural, and I loved that they didn't immediately fall for each other.

Definitely another enjoyable read by Julia Quinn but probably will not be a memorable read. If I read the blurb again years later, I might not remember the story's plot.

This started out very funny. I loved the wit and sparkle and just plain humorous fun. The sexual intimacy was not graphic but still there were a couple scenes. You could sense things were not going to go smoothly since there were so many pages left and things were looking so tied together. Poor Dunford, poor poor guy. I would have given this book a solid 4.5 if it hadn't been for the last 60 pages or so. The last quarter of the books is worth MAYBE one star and has some pretty problematic elements. It's like the author wrote this sweet, wonderful love story and then went "Oh, I still have to write 50 more pages! How do I fuck this relationship up?". Then she had to toss in a few more pages to resolve the idiotic problem she created.

I was very excited to read Dunford's story in Minx, but it was sadly disappointing. It was funny as all of Julia's books are, and Dunford and all of the previous characters were as lovable as ever. I had high hopes for Henry (other than her name - it bothered me throughout the entire book) in the first few pages, but she grew to be extremely annoying very quickly. I completely ADORE this novel! The female protagonist is your earlier feminist, she's cute, daring and just so lovable! I immediately fell in love with our leading man, Dunford! I really enjoyed the chemistry between our two main characters. I got so wrapped up in this book I didn't want to put it down. LOVED Henry and Dunford at the beginning, but the conflict at the end seemed too forced. Really, how hard would it have been to ask the question, rather than leaping to outlandish conclusions and being so melodramatic??? I feel like a lot of that came from Henry's inexperience with men, relationships, and the world outside of Cornwall. (view spoiler)...more
You know how sometimes you watch a movie because you’re favorite actor is in it? That’s how I feel about this book. Dunford is my favorite Quinn hero - based on his role in all three books of the Splendid series and his cameo in How to Marry a Marquis - but Minx is not my favorite Quinn book. Don’t get me wrong, this book still earned my 5 star rating. It's quite entertaining and a recommended read especially for Quinn fans. I loved 90% of the book (see my dislike below for the other 10%)
