Being someone who’s obsessed with shoes, seeing this book cover and reading that it’s about a shoe store owner in New York, I was ecstatic to read it. Emily Levine loves shoes. You could almost say she is obsessed with them. So opening a unique shoe store in New York's West Side could be a satisfactory way to enjoy her love of shoes.

Her marriage to attorney Larry Levine is not technically over, but they've been separated since she found him in bed with another woman. So opening the shop is a way to carve out an independent life separate from her husband.

3.5 stars, since it felt a little clunky, but overall I enjoyed the story and the characters.

I expected chick lit meets mystery, and certainly aspects of both were present in the book. Overall, it was heavier on the mystery and lighter on the chick lit. In fact, I'd call this more of a big city cozy!
