Another good one in the Bridgerton clan series. A big, juicy and totally shocking secret is revealed –at least I didn’t see it coming! It’s a shame the secret is discovered but I’m hoping for a “come back” in future books :)
Colin Bridgerton, Mr Suave, ends up being not so perfect after all and he falls in love with the very last person you’d expect if you’ve been following the series since book 1. Great story between the two of them, could have had a little more ste...more

"On the sixth of April, in the year 1812 - precisely two days before her sixteenth birthday - Penelope Featherington fell in love. But Colin Bridgerton certainly didn't fall in love with her in 1812 (and not in 1813, 1814, 1815, or - oh blast, not in all the years 1816-1822, either, and certainly not in 1823, when he was out of the country the whole time, anyway." Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend's brother for...well, it feels like forever. After half a lifeti...more

I started reading this to try to de-stress. I've never actually read an out-and-out romance before, but I heard Quinn wrote fluffy and fun regencies, and her style, at least at the beginning, was lively and engaging. However, as the novel progressed, more and more things began to annoy me. First, Quinn does something with POV that really bothers me, and which I am trying to delicately explain here without giving away the book's central mystery, slight as it is. Basically, Quinn has a revelation ...more

I was disappointed in this book. I was really looking forward to it because I liked the title (it makes me laugh), and I like the series, and I thought it would be really good. It's not that it was bad, it was OK, but not great. Not something I think I'll ever read again in the future.

Someone on Amazonrecommends it for: Anyone who loves a good story where a wallflower triumphs!
I took a break from PN and erotica and looked through my 100 or so TBR books that I haven't packed yet (we're moving this summer) and came up with Julia Quinn, my first experience with this author. I had seen this book recommended on Amazon and picked it up for a quarter at the thrift store, and I'm so glad I did; I really enjoyed it! Sweet, poignant, romantic, fulfilling, and a truly satisfying HEA. Not a lot of steam, but what was there fit the story perfectly. Now I have the dilemma of whe...more

Romancing Mr.Bridgerton holds a very special place in my heart for several reasons.
First, from reading The Viscount Who Loved Me, I fell in love with Colin's character. But surprisingly, when I read RBM, I fell in love with Penelope's character. She was a very intriguing secondary character from the other Bridgerton novels and she's so like me than I could ever hope for. ♥ I could really see myself in Penelope.

I thought this it was a bit of a let down compared to the previous two in the series. I was expecting a lot of charm and wit but I think Colin must have used it all up in the first three books. I was bit annoyed with him to be honest, especially when he felt he wasn't accomplished. It seemed a lot like Benedict's problem in An Offer From a Gentleman with him being known as the second Bridgerton. I don't know, I guess I had really high expectations for this one.

I have been looking forward to reading this book, ever since I first started reading this Regency series about the Bridgerton's, and I knew this story about Colin would be great. It was funny, poignant, surprising and had a great ending! Julia Quinn has done it again! I guess I should stop being surprised, she gets me every time - and once again, I had one of those tears in my eyes moments at her wonderful ending. She is one of my favorite romance authors.

This was a very cute story especially for anyone who has ever had a hidden crush. There is something about Colin that I just love. Maybe it's the way he always protects Penelope or the way he transforms into such a mature gentlemen? =)Quinn did a really good job on this book! The connection between Colin and Penelope was witty and cute!

Best line: "Next time you want to complain about the trials and tribulations of universal adoration, try being an on-the-shelf-spinster for a day." (100)
In the fourth Bridgerton book, Colin Bridgerton returns from another series of travels and finds himself quite frequently the subject of Lady Whistledown's column. He befriends his little sister's best friend, Penelope Featherington, because she's the one person he feels he can talk to about the difficulties of being a Brid...more

I go through stages: during my teen years, I devoured romance novels. I then soured on them so badly that I refused to pick up a romance for years. What I enjoyed the most about Romancing Mister Bridgerton is that it *isn't* anything at all like the romance novels I used to read. The book was light, and fun. Even the "dark secret" the book jacket promises to reveal about Colin is harmless.
In fact, Colin is remarkably *nice* for a romantic hero. He has flaws, but non...more

Romancing Mister Bridgerton - G+
Julia Quinn
Sensuality: 7
Penelope Featherington fell madly, hopelessly in love with Colin Bridgerton two days before her 16th birthday. Unfortunately, Colin has always seen Penelope as the plump, shy best friend of his younger sister. By the time Penelope is 28 and a seasoned member of the English ton, she's accepted that her love for Colin is destined to remain unrequited and she shall be a spinster forever. Fate, however, has other plans. When ...more

(#4 in the Bridgerton Series)
I had very high expectations for this book, and I was a little let down. I was SOOO looking forward to Colin's story, since he was SO GREAT and SO FUNNY in Book 2. But the book wasn't very funny. It was a good story and a lot of stuff happens, actually, but I didn't think it was as funny as it should have been. Maybe that's because Penelope Featherington isn't extremely funny? Or maybe because Colin was wanting to be taken seriously? I'm just not to...more

I'm not sure why, but Romancing Mister Bridgerton is one of my favourite romance novels. It's book 4 of a long series and features my favourite pairing of the entire family.
Penelope Featherington is a sensible girl who has spent the last 12 years of her life in love with Colin Bridgerton and has become comfortable in her spinsterhood life at the age of 28. The novel spans their entire relationship from meeting to the inevitable marriage but does it in a way that just sweeps you alon...more

I'd heard good things about Julia Quinn from the excellent website Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, and I grabbed this book, which comes in the middle of the Bridgerton series. Very funny in a couple of places, dry and witty all the way through, and without the predictable "nearly-deal-breaker misunderstanding 3/4 of the way through" that drives me so crazy in some romance novels. I did think Colin Bridgerton was a little too angsty about nothing in places, but I imagine that the problem w...more

This may be my favorite Julia Quinn. Penelope is a dry witted heroine accepting of her place in this world--only she's not who everyone thinks she is. There's so much more under the surface of the heroine and, as a consequence, the book feels deeper and the story more fleshed out. It doesn't rely of a forced mystery, but rather a shy heroine afraid no one will accept her for the wonderful, well-rounded person she really is.
Colin is a good hero. If you read the books in order, you...more

What fun! This is the 4th in a series featuring the Bridgerton family in Regency England. Wonderful characters, delectable romance, and a story that kept me stuck in my seat (I read it in one sitting). This is the best romance I've picked up in some time-- I'm definitely going to have to read some more Bridgerton books!

I love regency-period fiction. I love the way they talk, the way they dress, the mannerisms, everything. While Julia Quinn writes secular romance, it is not as steamy as others, which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

As a writer, I have to say this has been my favorite of the Bridgerton series. The two writing characters are so endearing, I was sad when the story was over. Fun, entertaining read, as I always expect from Julia Quinn.

quotes from this book
"Felicity," Mrs. Featherington interurupted, "why don't you tell Mr. Brdgerton about your watercolors?"
For the life of him, Colin couldn't imagine a less interesting topic (except maybe for Phillipa's watercolors), but he nonetheless turned to the youngest Featherington with a friendly smile and asked, "And how are your watercolors?"
But Felicity, bless her heart, gave him a rather friendly smile herself and said nothing but, "I imagine they're fine, thank you.""
