BE READY FOR SOME MORE RAPHAEL AND CYN TIME!
SO GOOD! I was disappointed with the previous book but this one got me obsessed about the series all over again. Of course I loved this book so much because it was mostly about Raphael and Cyn, **sigh, which are one of the best couples I have been reading about lately. While the book is called Sophia and introduces us to a new couple, that relationship is almost quickly and shallowly described. And I'm ashamed to say that this was what I loved the mos...more

4 1/2 stars. I just love this series. It will be one of these that grow in time to be one of everyone's favorites, mark my words. It just needs to be 'discovered' by the masses. Wonderful word building. Cyn and Raphael thread throughout the series, and their relationship grows each book. Honestly, this book has more of them in it than Sophia and Colin, but their romance gets plenty of screen time.

Okay...Before I begin I will tell you the reason why I liked this book so much. Almost half the book is told by the POV of none other but my favorite Vampire in the series, Raphael.

*****SPOILERS*****
Raphael and his gang will travel to Seattle to investigate the death of two of his children and will find out that there was a third attempt that didn't work out. With the help of Cyn, Sophia (a vampire who belongs to Lucien but has come to Seattle following leads her sire left her on another triple...more

Another winner! This is just a fantastic series, but this by far is my fave! It has heaps of action, hot loving and the storyline...brilliant! If you have to pick up a series, this is a must.
Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:
If you follow my reviews you know that I adore this series and have had nothing but great things to say about it. This book had me a little worried though. It has a female lead, and I've been so enamored of D.B's super alpha male vamp leads up until now that I really wasn't sure what this book was going to be like. Even after starting it, I still wasn't entirely sure, but things quickly turned around and once again, it captivated...more

I'm just gonna give this a 5 star just because there is so much of Cyn's and Raphael's page time. I would never have guess Murphy will still continue writing on them. I thought they got their HEA and be done with. If you are wondering who are Cyn and Raphael, they are the couple from Book 1 and 2. Although the story of Sophia and Colin started in this book 4, almost half the book is about Cyn and Raphael, so if you miss the book 1 and 2, I felt this book will not be as good.

As always, in order to be fair to D.B. Reynolds, I am going to declare up front that I am not a fan of paranormal romance. As far as Sophia goes, I do think it is the best book in the series that I have read to date.
Sophia get a summons from her vampire lord to return to Vancouver and upon arrival she learns that not only he missing but several of her his vampires are dead. The only clue as to what is going on, is a letter that he left to her with instructions to see out Lord Raphael. Once Sophi...more

OMG...what a fantastic read. This series just keeps getting better and better. I loved Sophia with her strength and determination and her love for Colin. I loved Colin just a much for the same reasons. But let me tell you folks Raphael was off the charts; damn I can't even put in to words what I felt for him. I've always had a soft spot for him but now...all I can say is WOW! Of course Cyn was present and you have give the girl props. She's tough as nails and when she's injured by some dip shits...more
Strong 2.5 to 3. Yes, the epilogue is nothing more than a set up for the next book ending with a tacky "to be continued" just like all the other books. Yes, I downgraded a star for it. In fairness to the book, however, if you skip the epilogue the books is fairly self contained, making allowances for the longer arc.
The book was not too bad, but it was a bit haphazard. The romance elements were as much, or more, about Raphael and Cyn as they were about Sophia and Colin. I found myself flipping th...more

I can honestly say I enjoyed this book. I love getting back to the old school vampires with mega powers. Raphael is seriously "that dude". I love Juro and Duncan also. I also like Cyn. She's strong and independent but working on sharing her life with Raphael.
This story is a serious throwback to territorial disputes and bigotry against vampires. It was great to read something that was just a good story, great fight scenes, great displays of vampire power and a bit of intrigue.

This is one of these books which you can not judge by its cover. I don't really know who stands behind the decision to keep horrible covers for the whole series, but I would really want to strangle them.
I want to have these absolutely wonderful series in paperback standing proudly on my bookshelf, but with the covers like this? No way. Ranting aside I luuurve Vampires in America.

This book was about Sophia. A vampire called into the territory of her sire to "sort things out" and how along the way she meets and old flame and you get to learn about her story. You also get to experience a lot more about Raphael and his wonderful children as well as his mate Cyn. This book had me crying along the way as to what happens and how love can be so strong that it can crush your very heart.

SOPHIA is Book #4 in the Vampires in America series. Although I haven’t read the first three books in the series, I didn’t have any problem acclimating to the nuances of this wonderful, preternatural world. There are actually two stories running concurrently here: Sophia and Colin along with Raphael and Cyn. SOPHIA began with a helluva hook and didn’t let up.
After many years, Sophia is summoned back to Vancouver by her Sire, Lucien. When she arrives, Sophi...more
Sophia has been summed from her home in South America to Vancouver by her Sire. Upon her arrival, she finds that he is missing and has left a letter and a picture of three murdered vampires that will lead her over the boarder and into the territory of a very powerful vampire lord. Sophia knows that what lies ahead for her will be dangerous but what she never expected to see was the man she fell in love with a decade ago. Colin Murphy is a retired Navy SEAL and is currently working security for a...more
This should be the continuing saga of Raphael and Cynthia. And to be honest, its the best parts of the story. The character Raphael is overwhelming, so well written and his interaction with Cynthia is engaging. These two characters overshadow everything. The plot here is vampires near the Canadian border belonging to Raphael are dead and he goes there to investigate. The second story plot is Sophia searching for her master in Canada only to find him missing while several vampires in his territor...more

Another great addition to a series that I am surprised that I am enjoying. Vampires in America has totally captured my heart. I have fallen in love with the characters and I am anxiour to get to the next book Duncan.
This book, Sophia, is the first of the series to focus on a female vampire. Living in Brazil, Sophia returns to Canada to find her sire,Lucien, missing. No one has a clue to where he has disappeared. Not only is his disappearance a question but he has left word that he wants Sophia t...more

Ahhhh what can i say about Sophia. I was so eager to read and know what happened to my beautiful favourite vampire raphael that i read it all in one sitting the day i could download it.
The story goes along the same lines as the other vampires in amercia ones do, something happens and Cyn and Raphael go a lookin to find and figure it out.

I like this series more and more with each book. It has wonderful word building, fascinating characters that you love or hate but you definitely feel something for them, and a balanced mix of action, quiet scenes, romance, sex and mystery. The stories have some of the familiar elements of vampire books but Reynolds definitely has her own take on vampire lore. This is not a cookie cutter PNR series. The vampire world, as well as events in previous books, is carefully detailed but there's never an...more
WOW! What a book! DB Reynolds has out done herself and I am NOT complaining. Sophia is the most powerful child of the Vampire Lord Lucien. She’d been living in Brazil for years now and she hadn’t seen her sire in over a century. But when she received an urgent summons from her sire to come back to Canada, she had to obey… but why is he summoning her? Colin Murphy is a Navy seal who is a police/ detective for a rich quite neighborhood of vampires and humans alike. But when the people he is suppos...more

2 stars is me being generous. It's the weakest of the bunch
Every series is likely to have a weak entry and this one is it for Vampires in America. Raphael and Cyn are back in the spotlight, but they now they share it with a crop of new characters, including the title vampire character.
This time we move northwest to Vancouver, British Columbia and Washington state. Sophia herself has been summoned there by her Sire in the wake of three vampires’ untimely murders. Coincidentally, Colin Murphy, a...more

This was my least favorite of the series so far, Sophie was not a great character. And her and Colins story line was really just a tie in for the real story. Raphael and Cyn are called to investigate the deaths of 2 of Raphaels vampires. The storyline is a murder mystery plot, but somehow starts with Sophia's sire Lucien screwing up royally in Vancover. I think this story could have survived without Sophia all together and could just have been another Raphael and Cyn mystery. But I'm...more

Even though this book is titled Sophia, it is as much about Cyn and Raphael as it is about her, and it was fantastic. I enjoyed the steamy relationship between the scrumptious Colin and the delightful Sophia, but the passion between Raphael and Cyn was sizzling. I LOVED it! There was also a professional relationship and friendship that developed between Cyn and Colin, much to Raphael’s dismay that made for a very interesting part of the story. Our first female Vampire in action here. In this book we read from the POV of two main Vamps. Someone is masacaring vamps in Rafael's teritory and Cyn is hell bent on finding outwho the creeps are. Sophia a nomadic vamp from the Cnadian territories is suddenly called by her vamp lord to investigate a slew of massacres in his territory. Her investigation leads her to the Pacific Northwest - Rafael's territory and his slew of crimes. She finds herself working with the vamp lord and his mate and an...more
I love this series and I love the characters, but I felt I was misled by the title for this book. It should have been name Raphael and Cyn. Although, I enjoyed seeing how their relationship develops, I think it should have been secondary to the story of Sophia and Collin. In the end, Sophia never truly showed why she deserved to be ruling Canada and we never really got to see why she and Collin loved each other so deeply that he was willing to spend eternity with her. Again, I love the protagoni...more
I'm on a D.B. Reynolds high right now!!! I read all 4 books in a matter of days. Sophia doesn't disappoint either. Cyn and Raphael are back, heading up to Seattle to deal with some murders. The story was mostly about Cyn and Raphael actually, but Sophia makes her way in there and has an interesting past and connection to the troubles in Seattle.
Again, Cyn is a great character. She loves weapons, giving Raphael shit about being an arrogant vampire lord and getting down and dirty with her vampire...more

The murder of two of Raphael’s vampires sends shock wave throughout his territory and sends him to a small town in Washington State to discover the who, what and how. Sophia’s sire calls her to his headquarters in Canada, but when she arrives she finds him missing. She goes to Washington to find out if Raphael has any knowledge regarding her maker’s disappearance.
