This was a rather fun book with some hot sex. I liked both characters for different reasons. I’m a pretty big fan of kick-ass heroines – a description that fits Lexie perfectly – and I loved Anthony.

I really enjoyed watching Anthony slowly gain confidence in himself and his powers of attraction and I enjoyed the relationship that developed between Lexie and Anthony. What I absolutely hated – while still enjoying Lexie as the science slut - was the deception that the relationship started with. I...more

The Geek Job is not your typical erotic paranormal romance. Nope, Eve shows her talent yet again for writing something different and hot. I have to admit at first I wasn’t warming up to this story, but as I keep reading I found Eve added her twist to the story and made this geek into a hot demanding alpha. Oh my, *fan self*. Now, I need to find a geek for myself LOL.. You have to read “The Geek Job” for yourself to find out what this geek turned himself into in order to keep his lady wolf.

The Geek Job by Eve Langlais
Lexie, short for Lexington, just accepted a job to guard a geek and do whatever to stay close to him. Fredrick, a vampire, wanted his precious geek scientist to stay safe while he went to his convention. Anthony Savell was working on a serum that would allow Fredrick to see the light of day after hundreds of years in the darkness of night. There were many enemies who wanted to kill the scientist before this would happen.

Lexie was use to doing whatever she had to do to...more

I enjoyed this book and found it kept my interest easily. It was a light read and very sexy concerning a female werewolf who had yet allow anyone or anything to dominate or control her but finds herself falling for a human geek who she's hired to protect at a science conference without his knowing. It was funny in places and definetly entertaining. I love how she doesn't really lose her sassy attitude and strength when she lets him claim her as a mate because it is just that, she LETS him claim...more

Lexie is a kick butt she-wolf. She hires herself out as a bodyguard, protecting others with her supernatural speed and strength. Her latest job comes from her vampire friend, Frederick. Frederick has a scientist working on solving his little UV problem. There are others in the supernatural world that would love to get their hands on this geek’s work. The ability to go out in the sun could be quite the coup for a vampire.

The Geek in question is Anthony Sevall. He may be a confident savant in the...more

The Geek Job was not wonderful. It took me about 4 or 5 chapters before I started to enjoy it and I wouldn't read it again. I was expecting more of a romance novel, not an erotica novel. I haven't read any of Eve Langlais' work before. Perhaps these characters have been introduced in other novels or her shifter/vampire world has been explained better elsewhere. She doesn't do the best job explaining what groups of fantasy characters are "real" and what part of the lore is real for each group of...more

Lexie was too much of an Alpha to even try pretending she was just another pack female. After tearing into one too many of the pack males, she was banished and now makes her living on her own terms. Right now her terms are playing body guard and pretend girlfriend to a geeky scientist working on the vamp problem, sunlight = steaming pile of goo. Anthony was tongue tied when the most gorgeous woman he’s ever seen speaks to him. He can’t believe his good fortune when she actually seems interested...more

This novella is erotica that I think might have worked even better as a full length novel, because the author has a nice grip on her characters and on the influence of paranormal beings on our world. In a matter of fact way that I could easily believe would work just like that.

Because it is erotica in intent, we do get a whole lot of sex right away and throughout, but the strong personality of Lexie, the heroine, and the nice foil that her geek is for her personality make for an emotional connec...more

After reading this, my third Eve Langlais novella, I guess it's fair to admit I'm becoming a bit of a fan. Once more, much like A Ghostly Menage, Ms. Langlais manages to deliver a good enough story that the punctuation and editing flaws can actually be overlooked. Well, overlooked in the sense that they didn't completely detract from the story itself. I do hope she gets a better editor, however, because her storytelling deserves that extra bit of polish.

Ms. Langlais really seems to have a master...more

I'd have to say this is one of my favorite stories by Eve, I was completely hooked by the smexiness of it! I'm so used to reading books where the hero is this dashing, warrior, uber Alpha guy and the heroine takes a journey into growing stronger. It was the complete opposite with The Geek Job.

Lexie is the kick butt and feisty character who knows what she wants and has absolutely no problem in taking it. She's a bodyguard and good at her job which lands her with a job protecting a scientist rese...more

Ooooooooooh! This was such a great story!.

Not at all typical. Totally hot. A litle off the wall. Completely addictive.

I was looking for a great Langlais and I found it in this story. The blurb and/or the sneak peak chapter do not do this story justice.

The plot was quite busy with a lot of things going on. The hero was hot, the heroine was strong and interesting, and there was great character development. What more can we ask for?

I just ... don't really have words for how much I enjoyed this stor...more

My Review:
This was simply a fun afternoon's read. I took the afternoon off for Mother's day and took my Kindle to the coffee shop. This book was perfect for my afternoon. It only took a couple of hours to read. It wasn't too heavy or too deep- just pure entertainment. But there definitely was enough story and character development, that it didn't seem lacking...at all!

Anthony is a scientist on the verge of discovering the cure to a vampire's aversion to sunlight. As such, he is in a very dangero...more

Eve Langlais knows how to write female characters that don't mind getting down and dirty. They like sex. They like verbally sparring with their men. They like the occasional all-out fight. Her books make me smile because they're so bold and fun. This book is no exception. It was FUN! Even when Lexie was having an attack of conscience about lying to Anthony, she was funny about it - hoping to get in a last night of loving before things fell apart, lamenting how her body was responding in a dire s...more

In this novella Eva Langlais reverses the stereotypical model and delivers a story of a strong, dominating female werewolf Lexie falling for a physically weaker being, namely a human scientist, Anthony. I seriously should have been warned off by the title itself but for whatever reason I dived right into it, head first.

Lexie makes her living working as a spy, an assassin, a bodyguard, a life heavily frowned upo...more

I loved this story. It is going on my faves list and now I'm kicking myself for not reading it ages ago (it's been on my "To Read" list forever). It was just a great read and I really loved Anthony and Lexie. I liked how the story gave them time to grow and learn about each other. The story took place over a couple weeks, which isn't a long period of time but I felt it gave more time for their feeling to mesh and grow.

Lexie is an Alpha female shifter. Most of the male shifters want her as a mat...more

The Geek Job was my first book by Eve Langlais but it is definitely going to be the first of many.

Even though this is quite a short novel, Eve Langlais manages to give us wonderful, quirky and sexy characters and a funny and hot story that could rival any full-length book. At first, I thought I could not possibly like the female lead because of her "work ethics" but it actually turned out to be really funny and when Lexi meets Anthony she falls hard and quickly.

My Thoughts: I'm always up for romances involving nerdy/geeky/science-y type people (because I'm one myself :P) so when I saw The Geek Job for free, I pounced on it right away.

I thought it was cute how the couple was a female werewolf and a male scientist, especially since the female werewolf is an alpha, aggressive type and the male scientist was a typical shy guy. I haven't come acros...more

Highly recommended - this book was brilliant. It was humorous, romantic, adventurous, cheeky, different and just plain fun :))

The turnaround of the stereotypical characters was great with our heroine being kickass with an understandable chip on her shoulder as Lexie has always had to fight her way out of being pushed into the submissive wolf mould [kicking and screaming]. Our hero a brilliant scientist who is shy/diffident when not in his science element. The more time Anthony spends with Lexie...more

When I read the title of the book I wasn't so thrilled. Geeks aren't usually very demanding or alpha male and I like that in guys A LOT.

Boy was I wrong. This geek is hot and learns that he has to handle his lady pretty quickly. PLUS, who doesn't love a man that's not only got a big brain in his pants but an actual one in his head?

I really liked the MCs and the story wasn't bad. A bit rushed in some places by my standard (view spoiler)[ the change, the fight (hide spoiler)] but otherwise a good r...more

The Geek Job is a wonderful, action filled little piece.

I really enjoyed it and found myself falling completely in love - and i wont lie, lust - with that geek. I don't know, but I do enjoy things that aren't normal! Usually we have the guy's being the dominating type (even though I must admit, i love lol), and the girls getting hurt from some sort of secret.

But in this novel - the table has turned. (Though in the end, our badass chick got what she deserved - a good domineering hunk <3)

So we are all used to hot strong drool worthy men taking spot in our paranormal romances, well be prepared to swoon over one very geeky man!!

When you find out that our main man is suppose to be a nerdy scientific guy you may think to just skip this. I mean we all like our men to be that alpha male and someone we can all fall head over heals for. But please do not let this dissuade you from this book. Because you will miss one hot book!!

This book really blew my expectations. The characters had a...more

Eve Langlais knows how to write a book with some major spice factor!! Lexie, a beautiful alpha female werewolf bodyguard, has been hired to protect a geeky, but downright sexy human scientist, Anthony, from some not-so-good guys who want to use his stunning new ingenious ideas & formulas to change the entire DNA & science of shapeshifters.. And ohhhh my... Protect him, Lexie does... Among other things.. Ms. Langlais has combined some shockingly sexy characters and created a complete must...more

This was a fun Paranormal Romance (heavy on the Romance) book - Lots of hot steamy fun :)

The story starts off with Frederick (the Vampire) hiring Lexie (the werewolf) to be a bodyguard to Anthony (the human "science Geek") . In order to keep a very close eye on Anthony, Lexie does whatever she has to do to keep him with her at all times. Including pretending to be his girlfriend.

The only problem is her inner wolf likes this Geek a lot more than Lexie expected her to. She wasn't prepared for th...more

This was my first read by Eve Langlais and while I wasn't blown away I'll go back for more.

It was a slow starter - lots of telling and not a lot of showing - and I was pretty sure I wasn't going to like Lexie all that much. As she shed the persona she needed to adopt in the beginning of the book I warmed up to her much more. I enjoyed Anthony when he was a beta but not so much as an alpha. Don't get me wrong, I love my alpha heroes but I enjoy a well written beta. Anthony was that. The change t...more

YAAAAAAAAAAAWN!!!
Boring is the only word that comes to mind i don't even remember the lead characters names, i found my self practically rolling my eyes every two seconds it was so predictable. One of my biggest pet hates in a book is a dominant female who has the attitude of a man that doesn't make her dominant it just shows a female with penis envy sheeeesh. The geek was a big hottie with a pair of glasses thrown on for good measure. I usually enjoy Eve Langlais quick erotic and funny as hell...more

An original short story, simple plot, with an unbelievable resolution that would insult any serious paranormal romance lover, but what can I say, I just loved the pairing of the geek with the shewolf, despite all of the flaws.
HERO is a Performer, a brilliant scientist hired by a vampire to find a way to sustain sunlight, he's focused on his research, shy, and then he falls for a beautiful woman who sets her eyes on him, not knowing she's been hired as his bodyguard.

Lexie is an ubber alpha werewolf who she thumbs her nose at submissive expectations and becomes a bad ass bodyguard. Her newest job is to protect human, Anthony, who unknowingly is working for a vampire and that pesky allergy to sunshine.

Eve Langlais is quickly becoming one of my top tier authors. Her stories are definitely entertaining and worth reading. The one thing that really surprised me in this story is that it felt like a longer read. There was plenty of plot and character development wh...more

Enjoyable read to pass the time. But has some things that I found a little jarring:

1. Hero's change in the second half of the book
2. How the other conference attendees are presented as male nerds (with apparently a lack of interaction with females) --at a sci-fi/gaming/etc. convention I understand, but at an academic science conference, no.

Some things I found mildly refreshing:

1. A TSTL moment by the hero (which he immediately realized once doing it)
2. Heroine having very few qualms about sex an...more

This was fun! I'll admit that two things drew me into reading this story (well, okay, THREE things):

1. Kelly from Reading the Paranormal read it and LOVED it.
2. Eve Langlais is CANADIAN.
3. Yum. (in reference to the cover)

The whole premise of this book was great from start to finish. I loved that the geek in the story, Anthony, wasn't a geek at all, but a hot scientist, and the girl sent to protect him, Lexie, was a kick-ass werewolf. Anthony starts off as shy and awkward (but still incredibly...more

A geeky human scientist working on a cure for the vampire sun 'allergy' just has to leave his safe lab to go to a scientific convention, in comes his bodyguard Lexxie. She goes above and beyond protector duty by getting extra close to her charge, but of course the typical wham bam thank you maam isnt so simple this time.
