As Urasawa Naoki finished drawing Master Keaton, while he was still working on Monster, he came up with another series. Let's be honest. Monster is a good manga, but it has some flaws like naive dialogues and too many side plots, but that was mainly because it was Urasawa's first big thriller work and he yet had to associate with that kind of genre. So it's his second thriller named 20 Seiki Shounen any better?

Welcome to the year 1969. Just a few moments ago a group of friends built their secret base. Kenji, Otcho, Yoshitsune and Maruo are those friends. They are typical kids who enjoys their daily lives trying to draw their own manga, trying to be like cool young adults and listening to rock.

Welcome to the year 1997. Kenji is now all grown up and so are his friends. Some are married, some has kids now. Time flies like a bird feather in a strong wind. Though, Kenji is living with his mother and takes care of his niece named Kanna. You know the story, the always responsible sister returns back home for a while and leaves there her daughter and then disappears to who knows where. It happens... But Kenji is a man, so he decides to pay his sister back for many years of her care by taking care of Kanna by himself.

Welcome to the 21st century. The politician group called Friend Party has become very powerful as they saved the world from destruction. Why are they so mysterious? Who is this "Friend"? What's his connection to Kenji? Did they really saved the world? And what will happen now?

If you are interested you should read 20 Seiki Shonen by Urasawa Naoki. Just take first volume and you can already see major improvement in parts where was Monster weak. I'm talking about dialogues of course. They feel more natural and fluid. Even the side stories are better implanted into overall plot. The drawings are also really good.

20 Seiki Shonen is quite different that Monster. The atmosphere in Monster was mysterious and foreboding most of the time, but here it's more relaxed. Still, if you like Monster or any other piece of Urasawa Naoki you shouldn't miss this.(less)

Salah satu komik paling cerdas yg pernah gw baca...Authornya Urasawa Naoki emang terkenal sih ama crita2nya yang 'berat' untuk ukuran manga,..biasanya gw males baca komik (selain komik sejarah dan detektif) tapi apa yg diceritakan di komik ini bener2 membuat gw salut..they're talkin about NEW WORLD ORDER...tapi disini gak diceritakan tentang Freemason nor Illuminati, tapi diganti dengan 'sahabat' (liat aja lambangnya mata satu gitu). Komik terbitan tahun 2000 tapi ceritanya tentang kontrol popul...more
