This was a sweet reunited lovers story (one of my favorite romance tropes). I especially liked that it was Lucas who wanted a permanent relationship. I don't think that happens often enough in novels. It seems like the men are always commitment shy, but that isn't realistic. This was refreshing in that respect.

On Lavender Lane by Joann Ross
Madeline, famous cookbook writer is back in Oregon after having been humiliated on tour for her new cookbook. Pictures of her ex with his new girl getting it on had made the net.
Lucas Chappy is the boy she had left to pursue her college education. He still lives there and fixes houses and is under contract to do her grandmothers who she will be living with for a while.
He is a former Navy Seal and after talking to his male friends he knows he has to bring Maddy up to...more

Another fantastic visit to Shelter Bay. Lucas is a terrific character. He is, of course, an alpha male, being a former Navy SEAL. But he is also a basically nice, sensitive guy, though that came through learning some things the hard way. He knows he isn't going to have an easy time of getting back into Maddy's good graces. She has returned to Shelter Bay to recover from her marriage and try to get her life back on track. She has spent the last several years repressing her goals and desires to su...more

This is another wonderful edition to Ms. Ross's on going stories of Shelter Bay. The novels revolve around battle weary vets, trying to put there life back together at home. Shelter Bay is a wonderful little sea coast town in Oregon, and I want to live there! Our hero is Lucas Chafee, a homecoming SEAL medic. He is mourning the loss of his father, while trying to get his life back after his tours in war torn countries, and the lives he couldn't save. Maddie, his teen-age love, is returning to Sh...more

JoAnn Ross has created a great set of characters all centered around a military tragedy in Afghanistan where Marines, SEALs, Army Rangers, and other military personal, even though they lived through a hellish night, get the chance to find their happily ever after. JoAnn Ross began these series with the Hish Risk series which were action packed, suspenseful, sexy stories which are what I began reading her with. She's continued with the same base of military characters but moved the story to Shelt...more

JoAnn Ross didn't let me down with this book in the Shelter Bay Series. Madeline who has made herself a well renowned chef, having her own cooking shows and marring a well renowned chef, finds her self back home in Shelter Bay after her husband is found having an affair with a woman (whom is also famous) and a video of their so called loved making put on youtube for the whole world to see. Lucas is home, after loosing his father and find Madeline just as attractive and beautify as usual. He tell...more

Decent book, the hero and heroine had a teenage romance but the hero made her think he cheated so that she would not give up her dream of Europe and culinary school, he became a SEAL and now the dream he had of working with his father is gone, since he's dead, he returns to the town he spent his summers in and when Maddy comes back he instantly knows he loves her and wants to marry her.

Maddy comes back after she finds her husband cheating, she's not happy when Lucas tells her the truth of what h...more

Started out good then just sort of dragged on. Author went into unnecessary detail. Could have skipped sections and still gotten the gist of the story.

Celebrity food TV chef Madeline Durand returns to her grandma's farm after learning of her husband's affair. Old boyfriend, Lucas returns there after his father dies. Lucas wants to resume relationship and Madeline has cold feet because Lucas cheated on her. Later finds out he made it look that way so she would not give up her dreams of going to E...more

This book was just okay. Although it had a great story, I found myself skimming most of the book because alot of unnecessary story was told. Okay, I get that Lucas was a former SEAL. But do you really have to bring it up constantly throughout the book? That was a little annoying. I found Madeline to be a likable heroine and admired her honesty with her feelings toward Lucas. I still think she should have made Lucas grovel a bit more than she did. The sad thing about this book was that it could'v...more

I was lucky enough to win this book and couldn't wait to read it. After I started it I wish I held back and waited until I read the first two books in the series. Ross did such a good job of bring me into her world that I felt a little lost without reading from book one. Now saying that guess what I'm going to be getting! Sometimes old love can be a new love again and Ross proved that perfectly in Lavender Lane. I enjoyed how she balanced the past with the present. I also enjoyed both Madeline a...more

This is the third in JoAnn Ross's Shelter Bay Series. It is the story of celebrity TV chef Madeline Durand. She is married to a classically trained French chef/owner of a restaurant empire. She works hard establishing her own "brand" making money to keep his restaurants afloat. They live and work in New York City. She is making a department store appearance in Omaha when a sex video of her husband with another woman is released on You tube. After confronting him in New York City, she goes home t...more

On Lavender LaneCelebrity Chef Madeline “Maddy” Durand travels frequently to promote her line of cookware, in addition to hosting two culinary shows on television. Married to French chef and restaurateur Maxime, one would think Madeline’s life was a veritable dream. She might have thought so too…until the day the audience in her cooking demonstration discovers her cheating husband’s sex video on their iPhones. Embarrassed and overwhelmed, Maddy can think of nothing more than getting far away from her husband a...more

Barely started and I'm losing track of all the previous stories and the people involved in them. There is such a thing as too much series.

I did finish it.... so it gets 2 stars but actually was a 1.

So, Lucas came to spend more time with his sister.... ok, where??

How many times can someone nag about getting married??

Then we had to redo the entire scenario in Afghanistan twice... more if you've read the previous books.

Divorce??? Seemed a little too quick and easy IMO.

Then there's the scene at the...more

Maddy, a celebrity chef - is shocked to learn that her older husband has cheated on her - and proof of it is on the internet. She returns to the home to Shelter Bay and to her grandmother's farm. There she learns that her old boyfriend who betrayed her is back. It's been 10 years since they last saw each other. Lucas thought he was doing her a favor by pushing her away all those years ago. He's back in town with his trusty canine sidekick Scout and kind of at a loss - his dad just passed away. T...more

another book in ross's SHELTER BAY series, and another keeper. it brings to life the proof that we are in a really modern age, when the book's heroine is surprised by a sex video of her husband and his mistress on-line while she's doing a cooking demo! how she deals with her hurt and disappontment shows what a class act she is. and the hero, who had also disappointed her 10 years earlier, more than makes up for past mistakes. a charming story

Oh my stars! This is the best read for me of the series this far. I loved the shout out to SD and Kuchen ;) as a 3rd generation German Mennonite from Russia it is a favorite family treat. Not to mention I was reading book 2 & 3 during the worst ice and snow storm I can remember occurring in April here in eastern SD. It was a wonderful escape and the throw down ending was the bomb! Thank you JoAnn for one heck of a journey.

Ok, I'm a little confused... what the heck happened with the side story? It didn't. Belong in the story in the first place, but if you are going to unnecessarily add a storyline and some characters shouldn't you do your readers the courtesy of tying it up nicely? Or ag least ending it in a fashion where your reader knows it will be continued in the next book? I am a little annoyed.

I purchased this book after reading several of Ms. Ross's Six Sentence Sunday excerpts and each on of them grabbed me. However, the book didn't live up to the promise as much as I'd hoped. I enjoyed most of the dialog, and the story arc for Phoebe and Ethan, but there seemed to be a lot of run-on sentences and passive voice that slowed down the narrative.

The best part of the book occurred on pages 350 through 378 where we saw action and emotion and events lighting fires under relatively passive...more

On Lavender lane is a great addition to this wonderful series. This is Maddie and Lucas' story. Loved the story. The way Maddie and Lucas find their way back to each other. The development of the rest of the characters, especially Maddie's grandmother and the home for abused woman. Loved the book and I can't wait to start the final book in the series.

Another Shelter Bay novel with a returning veteran and a second chance with an old love. Maddie returns to Shelter Bay after a disasterous marriage to find her first love again. Can she forgive the man who broke her heart 10 years ago and find a future with him in the charming village of Shelter Bay?
Aly Hackett
Really enjoyed this story! Lucas and Maddy were both very likable characters and I was thrilled that the stress between them wasn't dragged on forever and did overshadow everything else. It was great checking in with all the other characters and I am looking forward to the next one!
Janet
Maybe 2 1/2 stars since I've always liked how Ross can bring the Oregon coast to life. Even so, it was a slog getting through this. There were some spots I enjoyed and I liked Lucas and Maddy but it felt cobbled together. Macomber and/or Carr does these multi-family books better, imo.

This book was just the kind of feel good romance I was looking for. The main character's role as a chef made for a very entertaining story. Would definitely recommend to others.
Brianne
I wasn't totally blown away by the hero and heroine, but I did like revisiting old familiar people. There was definitely some fodder for future books buried in this one
Allison
A lovely, fluffy romance novel where people go through some tough times then, all the people who love each other figure it out and everyone lives happily ever after.
Samantha
Cute read. However Lucas pressuring Maddy to get married was bizarre. The author threw in too many other distractions and sometimes I wished she would have just focused on the romance.

I love series stories. This one is the third in the Shelter Bay series by JoAnn Ross. Lucas is a former Navy Seal that comes home but the plans to go into a business building with his Dad get changed when his father passes away. He returns to Shelter Bay where he summered as a child to scatter his father's ashes out to sea. Maddie was his teenage love and her husband's sex video with another woman brought her home to Shelter Bay to "lick her wounds" at the same time. Maddie discovers her Grandmo...more

Pretty predictable. Wasn't hard to fall asleep when reading it. Finally skipped ahead to last two chapters and they were exactly what I expected.
Dianna
3.75 stars really. Again, no one gets shot, but there was a close call when a guy with a gun..... I am really enjoying this series though.
Renee
I am giving this a four because I enjoyed the cooking contest at the end. Lucas was a good character...not sure about Maddie.
