"Summer’s End" tells the story of Francis Lord Lovell, a man who has always fascinated the many people who are interested in the life and times of Richard III. This period is familiar to readers of historical novels, but is approached here from a different viewpoint. The story also continues into the far less familiar years following Richard’s death.

While somewhat interesting as we learn about Francis Viscount Lovell, considered to be Richard III's closest friend, the book suffers from a lack of real emotional involvement on the protagonist's part. Part of that could be because the book is written in the first person, something that only very good writers can pull off successfully. But, whatever the reason, Lovell never seems deeply involved, emotionally, in what is going on around him. His feelings seem lukewarm at best.

Great medieval read.

I love good historical fiction, particularly set in Medieval times. This fit my criteria . It was an enthralling tale of an English nobleman during the mid 1400's. The historical facts were accurate, while weaving a tale around the history presenting possible personal experiences and relationships. A good page turner.

A new facet of Richard lll

Well told story of Richard, sympathetic in showing a human side, not the usual cruel monster portraits through history. Enjoyable and curious...
