Ela vê a sua própria fil...more

This storyline is sooo predictable, a story that’s been told in a dozen different ways by many chicklit authors. (Think Jodi Picoult, Kristin Hannah, Nicholas Sparks…) You know someone is going to find their soulmate, and that one of them is going to die of cancer, lose a child, or reunite with a long-lost love or parent….

That said, the writing is off-the-charts beautiful. Eloquent, descriptive, emotive, intriguing. I loved – not the generic “gosh I love this” way the term is used, I felt genuin...more

The Color of Heaven is an amazing contemporary fiction novel. I wasn’t sure what to expect, so was surprised when I was so quickly drawn into Sophie’s story and did finish reading it in one sitting. I loved each of the characters; they were richly developed and so carefully woven into the story. And what a story – certainly loaded with joy and sadness, regret and forgiveness, and loss and new beginnings. But most of all, it was a love story. All different kinds of love: between a husband and wif...more

The author of this book is E.V. Mitchell, which is a pseudonym for author Julianne MacLean.
This is one of the best books that I have read lately. I was actually reading Taken by the Cowboy by Julianne MacLean and when I finished there was an excerpt of this book. I think about the first 10 chapters. After I read those I was instantly hooked. I went online to Ms. MacLean's website to see where I can purchase t he book.
Well, low and behold it was .99c at All Romance Books and may be the same price...more

I read it ... it was ok. I found myself forcing myself along at times, and other times quite enjoying it.

Basically, this is one of those stories where an "out of body" experience occurs following a tragic accident and the survivor returns to tell us about "heaven".

The first part of the story has to do with the illness of Sophie's daughter and was actually the best written part, I felt. Following were all kinds of side trips through relationships and I just got so lost ! Was this "Sixth Sense" ?...more

This story did not take the path I expected it to, but I loved it! I have actually borrowed the e-book a few times and it's expired before I've read it. I decided to give it a chance and am glad I did. It's a story of unspeakable loss, betrayal, hope, and forgiveness. I think I was teary within the first couple chapters.

If you're not into stories of near-death experiences or are uncomfortable with intimate details (they are few and easily overlooked), than you might want to give it a pass. If t...more

The Color Of Heaven is a very compelling story. It's the story of Sophie who has a wonderful life with a loving husband and a delightful daughter until Meagan, her daughter, is diagnosed with cancer. After fighting the disease for several years, Meagan dies; Sophie grieves, and her husband has an affair and leaves her. Sophie is alone and bereft when she has an accident and dies for 40 minutes. During this time, she sees her Mother, who left when she was 14, and hears her mother's story. The two...more

I’m not a professional critic but I am someone who knows what she likes. This book grabbed me from the get-go and held my attention until the end. Julianne MacLean did a fantastic job telling the story of Sophie. So well in fact that I had to wonder if this story wasn’t MacLean’s that she was telling from her character’s point of view. I was there with Sophie when she found her soul mate and they married. I was there with them when they had their child. I was even there when Sophie’s life began...more

I don't really know what to say. Miracles occur every day, I don't know if this was based on a true story or not but it was a nice book. It wasn't anything that threw you for a loop or that you would read again in my opinion but it was nice to read.

The first husband was a douchebag in my opinion. How can you cheat on your wife, knock up your mistress and divorce your wife to marry your mistress after your daughter has just died. What a weak person and character if you ask me. Just had to rant a...more

One of the best books I've read in awhile and I read a LOT! This book touches the soul. It does. It's gut-wrenching, heartwarming and beautiful. I could not put it down and I had no intension of using my entire free night to read but once I started reading this book, I could not stop. I bought it earlier today and I'm already done with it. I now have a headache from all the crying but I wouldn't have missed this story for anything. It's so inspiring! I loved the way it was presented and how it j...more

So I enjoyed the book, hands down. I, like many other reviewers, felt that the author must have experienced some of the things written about in the book to be able to write about them so honestly. I will confess to being utterly confused about 3/4 of the way through the book (if you read it you'll understand). Everything was cleared up by the end of the book but I felt there was probably a less confusing way of explaining what was happening. I would read additional books by this author - good ch...more

Well, I will have to say, that I got a free digital copy of this book for my ereader as part of an online promotion. Didn't know what it would be about. And really it's about so many things. Life, death, relationships. And honestly, I had to go back to the beginning to read the "fiction" disclaimer because it was written almost like a true story. It was a little bit of a mystery in some ways, but you have no idea when you are reading it because it moves around a lot between story telling and cur...more

June first was when I had finished reading the exceptional novel of Julianne MacLean, The Color of Heaven. After reading Heaven is for Real, I’ve developed quite an interest on what really lies up above. I’m starting to really believe that heaven isn’t just an imagination of a vivid mind but rather an image of what one must’ve seen.
The novel was completely different from the first one I’ve read. It was a story on how the protagonist came to learn how to continue living even though life had alrea...more

Let me first say how reluctant I was to start this book. Leary doesn't even begin to describe my feelings of it considering the author is known for only writing romance novels...and I did not want to read a romance novel!

I was pleasantly surprised!

The Color of Heaven is an intricate weave of emotions that will tug at your heart strings and is a finely crafted mesh of two very distinct stories and voices told within these pages. Honestly I could have read an entire book just on Cora's story alon...more

The story of Sophie Duncan, a successful writer who has to endure not only her daughter’s unexpected illness and her husband’s shocking affair. And to add it all, to avoid a deer on an icy road she tumbles down the edge onto an icy lake. She dies and experiences a near-death experience that will enlighten all and inspire. This book had many twists and turns and I had to go back a page or two to re-read it to believe it. A very interesting story.

A great book about a woman's near death experience. A book about true love and forgiveness. In the beginning I thought the book was very rushed and thought "man this will be a quick read" and almost felt like I was going to be left with underdeveloped characters and not much of a story. A quarter of the way through, it changes up and gets alot more involved and the true story evolves. I really enjoyed the book!
Marney
A hopeful book about grief which in no way downplays the total devastation that the loss of a loved one creates. I read this in one day and really enjoyed the story. I found the "book ending" of the mother and daughter's high school romances a bit contrived but was willing to overlook this for the strength of the story. Pulled me in from the first page and kept me involved all the way through.

This was not at all what I expected. It all tied in at the end, but I really disliked how the mother came in at the half way point and started telling her story. It made it seem like two different books. I wasn't sure why the author did that...but at the end it all made sense. I really loved it and am glad I stuck with it. Thought I had it figured out but was surprised in a few places! encore!!!!
Crista
Overall, this book was well written and certainly drew me into the story. I was left wondering if the author had actually experienced these things in reality, which I think is a testimony of how true the characters and story were portrayed. ***SPOILER TO FOLLOW******

The only issue I had in the story was when her mother was telling her about her life experiences, and went into some more graphic details about her love life...Im not sure what mother would share that with her daughter, and the fact...more

Loved The Color of Heaven! Started it at work and was so drawn in, I had to keep reading. The characters felt real and there were some truly gut wrenching spots (it "feels" like a true story) but the end was uplifting. The writing style and a few surprising twists makes it a very fast read. I hope this author writes more of this type of book.

Read this book in a day. Skeptical about reading it since the author was a romance novelist. Not my favorite genre. But Sophie's story was so full of emotional ups and down it kept me turning the pages quickly. Even had me tearing up in several sections. Which for me is hard to do. While the journey was somewhat predictable the characters were well written. I really liked Sophie and the story being told by her. Definitely recommend.

Unlike anything else I've read in a long time, I finished this gem in 2 hours. Having a little girl of my own, Julianne hit on every emotion, fear and hopes I carry for my munchkin.

Have your tissues ready. I cried my eyes out and yet seemed to find peace at the end.

This book will stay with me ... absolutely loved it!

This book had a really good start and then it became so depressing I almost put it down, and I am really glad I finished it!! Loved the twist at the end and it all fell into place! I like surprises that kind of make you think for a minute I would definately recommend this book!! And thank God for happy endings!!
