What do you expect when you see the title Dirty Deeds and the name Lorelei James on the cover of a book? Yeah, that's what I'd expected too, but alas, this story was PG13-rated at best (or worst, depending on your take, LOL). As for the plot, it was predictable and it could have been better developed, as the story seemed to drag at times. Regardless, this was a better than average read to me - mostly because I really liked Nathan and his sweet, romantic courtship of Tate. :)

This is a cute romance, but I wouldn’t call it erotica, even though there is a warning about “explicit sex” on the back cover. Hmm. Not really.
Nathan bought and runs his dad’s company, which digs ditches for sewers. Tate is a graphic artist from Denver who has come to Spearfish, South Dakota, to get her aunt’s Victorian house ready to sell. She inherited the house and thought it only needed a little paint, until zoning laws were changed and she was slapped with a demand to also get the landscap...more

Yep it was Dirty Deeds alright!!! Nathan owns a ditch/sewer digging company but he is wanting to branch out into landscaping. Tate is a graphic artist from Denver trying to remodel/refurnish her dead Aunt's house. Well she needs some help because the city has madated that she do major changes and bring the landscaping and yard into city ordinances. There is 2 plots to this book, One getting the house ready to resell and Tate is tired of her plain old boring vanillia sex life. She is hoping that...more
Dirty Deeds was a quick, and pardon the pun, dirty read. Lorelei James could turn cleaning products into something salacious *grin*. It's no surprise the things (and positions) she can use when working with a HAWT Native American, blue collar business owner who wants to learn romance and a "once-burned, twice shy" pixie-ish woman who only wants to bang out any and all frustrations. Of course, when they fall in love, let the games begin.
Tate, an artist from Denver takes a trip to Spearfish, South Dakota to settle her deceased aunt's estate. Tate is in need of some landscaping work before she can list her aunt's house for sale. Much to Tate's surprise, her friend Val has a brother who does landscaping. Once Val introduces Nathan and Tate, the plans begin! The landscaping plans, the interstesting plans for payment for services and plans for each of their respective careers. Tate's looking for no-strings attached, fun and wild sex...more

Didn't like this book much at all...barely got through it.
The gender roles were reversed in this book, Nathan was acting like the girl, and Tate was being the douchy committment-phobe. I like my porn with a heaping serving of alpha male man meat, and Nathan was not that at all. Tate was a complete nympho... it was sort of scary.
Oh and what's with them taking over half the book before they get busy?? The sexing wasn't even that hot...it was sort of tame for Lorelei James!

A Lorelei James novel that has been probably set aside by her cowboy novels but which is set in the Great Plains and is a very fetching love story. The hero is a man of Native American extraction who is wanting to make his mark as a landscape artist but digs trenches for utility lines and sewers in order to pay the bills. The heroine is a graphic artist who has journeyed to Spearfish, So. Dakota to renovate and sell her aunts old but beloved Victorian and who needs a landscape artist. She also n...more
This was an interesting book to read. Tate was just looking for a sex fling as she had just gotten screwed over by her boyfriend. Nathan was looking for a more permanent romance relationship after just being looked at as a piece of meat. Throw Val in who can see that each other would be perfect for each other we have lots of fun to read about.
Tate with her taunting of Nathan helps ratchets up the tension with her quick quips. Nathan trying to slow things down frustrate Tate to no end. The two of...more

Slow Going....
This book was slow going, I did not get the chemistry between h and h. There was more confusion than chemistry. It appeared that the hero was too reluctant and I did not get how he could be so committed to romance yet knows the heroine won't be around for too long and on top it he is unwilling to say anything or offer anything to help change her mind (he's not very alpha at all). This confusion in his mind was visited often and maybe that added to the thickening of the plot but so...more

This has just become one of my favorite James books. I just loved how she took her time introducing us to the characters. The majority of the book was spent on getting to know them without a lot of background noise. He was so sweet and romantic. I liked both of the characters and they fit well together. This was also very steamy even though it wasn't erotic.
I had this book for years on my TBR pile and I finally decided to read it this week.
After reading almost every book Lorelei James wrote I can defiantly tell that this was one of her earlier books- her writing improved a lot during the years, so for me Dirty Deeds wasn't a bad book, it's just wasn't as good as her recent books.

The initial premise seemed a little clumsy, but I like the way that the tension was built, and the characters were likeable but fallible. I'm a fan of Lorelei James' writing style. Easy and enjoyable read.
This wasnt what I expected from Lorelei James at first...there was much more romance here than hot sex scenes for most of the book, which I enjoyed. The story was believable and sweet and the "dirty deeds" were appropriately paced according to the premise. There was still a lot of chemistry and tension between the H/h throughout the story just not in the same way as you might be used to if you've only read the McKay series previously.

I've read worse, and I've read better. I was not happy with the sex scenes, they seemed to be scattered hither and yon with no real relationship to the rest of the plot. They did not seem to further the relationship.
Some of the plot was trite. I had too much of the protagonists lying to themselves and failing to talk things out with each other, the unbelievable part was the resolution and happily-ever-after at the end.
I really liked the characters, which redeemed the story.

The only reason I gave it 3 stars was the second half of the book played out much better than the first...
Tate is looking for no strings "hot" sex, and can't spell it out any clearer to Nathan, who agrees to it...then suddenly changes it up, deciding he wants to romance her with no sex...and she goes along with it! (too contradictory for my taste). And as far as sexual encounters go...they don't even have one until halfway through the book...I'm just sayin

another great spicy read. this author will never disappoint. Loved the storyline, the characters.

A bit about me: When I'm not squirreled away behind my laptop writing fun, sexy, contemporary erotic romances set in the modern day Wild West, I can be found reading everything under the sun, practicing yoga until I’m a pretzel, shootin' my .22, watching the Professional Bull Riders tour on Versus, and running a kid's taxi service, all in the guise of avoiding housework and rustlin' up vittles.
