Over simplified into a vacant piece of confusing trash!...at least that seemed to be my 3 year old niece's opinion when I read to her the Little Golden Book version of Walt Disney's Peter Pan.

What ever happened to the quality product Little Golden Books used to put out? Okay, so maybe it's been about 30 years since I've read one and just maybe my literary quality requirements have changed, but I recall these stories having more substance...oh who am I fooling? The bottom line is I've turned int...more

this book would be for a 4th grader because its more complex reading and a lot longer then usually. this was about wendy telling her brothers and peter pan and how he lives in a magical land called Neverland. and one night peter pan shows up at wendys window. and takes wendy, john and micahel darling to neverland. and when they get there peter shows them around.tinker bell gets jealous the peter and wendy became friends and she flies away with captin hook. but captin hook only took tinker bell b...more

i re-read peter pan but this time not as a disney story i read it from colonial point of view
this story show us how the colonial concept is being taught to the children , Peter pan is from London , Britain at that time was the most powerful country .
for example : Never Land
the name itself gives the idea that this land did not exist until we came , they don’t exist before we the ruling people knew them ,
and Captain Hook who is supposed to be one of the native people is shaped as an ugly characte...more

Peter Pan can be so much fun. Following a boy that never wants to grow up. This book can be read in any year group. It is about a young boy who lives in Neverland, he ventures out to find his dear Wendy for her adventurous stories, and his life is one big adventure. With all adventures their is a 'bad guy' one Captain Hook who lives up to the name who causes trouble as all of the adults are Pirates. The text opens up an opportunity for children to write their own adventures with Peter Pan and wh...more

What person could not like Peter Pan! This classic story takes the reader to a whole new world where rules don’t matter and you do what you want. The illustrations create this world and show all of the fascinating aspects of it. Children would love this book because Peter is a character everyone can relate to. This story inspires people to be who they are and fight for your beliefs. I would use this book in my future classroom to teach about exploration and new lands. I might even make this a bo...more

I thought this book would be great for children because it has a mixture of exciting characters. For instance, there are wicked pirates, mermaids, Indians, and fairies. The most exciting part of the story is the setting because it's a place called Never land and children never grow old. As a child, I recall wanting to remain a child because I would see my older sister doing chores and being responsible, while I would rather play. So, this book will capture the hearts of children wanting to stay...more

I love this book. Such a Disney classic, and usually these books don't do the story justice but this book really has stepped it up. a beloved tale about a boy who doesn't want to grow up and never does, and also about a young family with little children who don't want to grow up either. The language in this book is probably for readers reading at at 4th grade level. The paragraphs are quite lengthy but still a great book. I read this book to my younger children and they enjoyed the book as much...more

I've read a few editions of this story and thought combining them would make comparisons easier, so this review will include all three editions I've reviewed so far.

The basic recap: Wendy, John and Michael Darling are in the nursery on the eve of Wendy's growing up when Peter Pan appears, looking for his shadow. When he hears that Wendy will be leaving the nursery to grow up tomorrow, he offers to whisk them away to Never Land. The children go with Peter and enjoy themselves until Peter sees tha...more

Was about a boy who never wanted to grow up felt that if you beieve in the impossible it would come true. This Version is by Walt Disney and child friendly. They adventures that take palce in this book gets children lost and expands their imagination. This book went on to evolve into a movie, a play, and ice skating play, video and have many sequels. in 1953 the movie was nominated for Grand Prize of Festival and in 2007 for the Satellite Award

Bea has asked me to read this book 6 or 7 times in just a couple of weeks. I think it is time to get another, more detailed version! She watched the movie last week 2x as well. I always disliked this movie as a kid (never read the book) because all the characters seemed so mean - even Peter Pan and especially Tinker Bell. But Bea is fascinated by something in it - so continue it we will.

This Peter Pan book is very much like all the rest. It starts out with Wendy telling her little brothers a story about Peter Pan and then Peter appears at the window looking for his shadow. Peter takes the three kids to Never Land where he shows them around. Tinker Bell is jelous and flies away and Captain Hook captures her and tricks her into telling him where Peter's secret hideout is. When they are getting ready to go home Captain Hook captures Wendy her brothers and the Lost Boys and takes t...more

If this book didn't make you want to grow up, I don't know what will. I remember reading this as a child and not ever wanting to grow up.. I did not like Captain Hook whatsoever, but that's to be expected. I love Peter (but who wouldn't) and the lost boys. I will most defiantly read this story to my child one day for sure.

This was my younger brother's favorite pick in the 1950's, so my mom read it to us many, many times. It was not as high on my list as Frosty the Snowman, but it was a good choice for story time when my brother did the choosing.
Karen
This was my most favorite story as a child. I wanted Peter to fly to my window so I could disappear and fly away with him.

I guess you could say he was my first crush!

Nothing super special the book follows the movie pretty much spot on and the illustrations match the animation style. Still, fun and colorfull and kids would love it.

Its a classic, I read it a while back its the same as the movie. I'm sure a lot of children have read the book and liked it. I would us this in the classroom.

The inexpensive Golden Books is as good a way as any to get the Disney stories in print.

I think we had the companion tape to Peter Pan. "You can read along with me in this book. You will know it is time to turn the page when you hear the chime ring like this..." I can still hear that chime. Didn't really like read along books because I finished reading the page before the narrator and was anxious to turn the page. Peter Pan is okay, better than most of the far-fetched Disney tales. Can you tell I'm not a hige fan of the fairy tale/fantasy genre?

A fine retelling of the JM Barrie classic - with Disney animation drawings - for younger children.

I love Peter Pan! This book should be on every shelf! What kid, or adult for that matter, doesn't want to visit Never-Never Land at some point in their lives? I'm 23 and I still do! I still want to fly with Tinkerbell and Peter and fight Captain Hook. How much joy would you get out of it if you could simply go there in this reality?
