Fascinating book! Sometimes it got a bit slow, I remember. Still, it was absolutely intriguing. Best of all, I serendipitously got to meet him after I read the book and he mailed me a signed copy after I gushed about the book and told him how it inspired me to visit Micronesia. Such a nice man!

Yes, I am an Oliver sacks fan-boy. My heart is captured by anything he writes so don't look here for anything objective.
I can't remember which year I read this, somewhere between 1990 and 1997.

This caught my eye at the library because it takes place on some islands that I'm familiar with. It's a great read if you're in the mood for some relaxed, memoir-type science writing.

Two fascinating neurobiological-epidemiological mysteries. Sacks is a bit slow to read, but his tone is so charming and the intregue so great it's worth it.

I am colour-blind, and I have worked in Micronesia. Sacks captures those worlds remarkably. I'm just glad I'm not THAT colour-blind.

Pretty interesting regarding his travels to these tiny islands and his findings there.

Hmmmmm. Nowhere nearly as interesting as I'd expected it to be.
