As a big Gone With the Wind fan, I found this book amusing but a little on the shallow side. The attempt to work Scarlett O'Hara's character in a self-help model falls short because the literary analysis lacks depth. Likewise, the life lessons fail to go beyond the obvious. Perhaps the book is too ambitious, or perhaps it's too short.
Okay, I wrote this book! But I think it's still an un-preachy, un-treacly "self help" book that holds up one of American literature's richest female characters as a "warts and all" role model for contemporary women. Send me a message and I'll tell you the "behind the scenes" story of "Scarlett Rules."
First, you must be a Gone with the Wind fan to appreciate this book. Full of fun, feisty and empowering advice for women. Taken from pages 151-152: "Thanks to the technological advances of the Information Age, it's easier than ever to lose focus on the here and now..."
I didn't realize this was a self-help book when I picked it up. But I really liked it! It helped me to understand Scarlett's character better and it gave me some good insights into my own life.

If Scarlett O'Hara were a tlak show host this would be her collection of advice!
This was clever, but I'm just not a huge fan of self help books. I do adore the title though. Also, Scarlett O'Hara rocks.
I picked this fun little book up at the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum in Atlanta, GA. Through the examples of Scarlett, the reader learns how to handle different situations. It's full of great advice and reminders on how to make the most of life
