I tried very hard to like this book. But in order to like it, I had to finish it. So I tried very hard to read this book. Twice. And I put it down after about 60 pages both times.

I love the whole mythology and history surrounding the peak of the Incas and the ensuing Spanish Conquest. This book and the full “Incas” series revolves around that time period, but this book is just bad. I keep thinking that it may be the translation since the book was reprinted from its' native french in n...more

The first and the best of the tale of two lovers from dirrerent worlds. One is a Spanish noble and the other is a noble captive of the Incas. At times this is a romantic novel and at other times a novel of political intrigue. Through it all, this is a fantastic historical sojourn into the days of the Inca.

Moitié romancée, moitié historique, cette histoire vous emmène voyager dans le temps, et vous fait imaginer la vie au temps des Incas. J'ai lu ce livre avec avidité...

A thoughtful gift from Josh before he knew how picky I am about books. I wasn't able to finish it and I'm considering putting it in the 'go' pile....Anyone interested?

Horrible. L'histoire est répétitive, fleur bleue, j'ai détesté. Pour qui a lu Gary Jennings, c'est de la déception assurée.

This book takes the reader into the world of the Inca's and perhaps I can even say that it makes the reader quite at home in the Inca-World.

The story talk's about the life of one particular girl 'Anamaya', who is orphaned in a bloody war only to become one of the most important/integral part of the Inca empire. She acts as the messenger or the 'go between' the Under world and the world of the Inti/sun. The author - A.B.Daniel - takes you through her life and in the process provides ...more

Mulle meeldis see raamat väga! Tahaksin juba teada, kuidas see lõppeb, kuna see jäi suhteliselt huvitavast kohast pooleli.

This is my go-to book for the worst book I've ever read. The subject matter is one I find hugely interesting, but this was a terrible, terrible book.

If you want to read something that will convince you that you can be a writer, read this. You will never doubt the quality of your own words again.

Recommends it for: a very special person
Hard to say. It is very sweeping and savage. I just picked it up on a fluke to see how Atahualpa was depicted. He was a preety fly character. It did make me pick up a couple of old history books on pre-colombian civs to see what was what.

Really good book....brought the Incas to life for me. All the more enjoyable as started it just before I went to Peru.
