Accident is an amazing family novel centered around Paige, mother of two and devoted wife. Paige feels incredibly lucky to have such a blessed life, until one night her teenage daughter Allyson tells a white lie that will transform the family forever, so far from normal that it can never go back. The two teenage girls, Allyson and Chloe, go to dinner with two older boys, lying to their parents that they are together. A car accident leaves Allyson in a coma and Chloe badly injured, one of the you ...more

Recommends it for: danielle steel fans
This was the first Danielle Steel I've ever read. I've kind of shied away from her writing all these years because I just couldn't bring myself to read "that kind" of writing. I started the book skeptical and I found that the writing could have been better (I rolled my eyes at plenty of her adjectives and metaphors), but the characters and the story kept me reading. In the end, I was disgusted by Brad, admired Page, and fell in love with all the teens and children in the book (especially Andy an ...more

This was my first Danielle Steel book and I think I expected a little more because she's a famous author. I liked the overall storyline, but she repeated herself so many times as far as their feelings, emotions, etc. that a few times I even thought I had read the same page already and had to check the page numbers! That was a little annoying. I think she could have left some of the repetition out and added more at the end telling how Addie took the news of her friends death, her parents split, a ...more

Accident is a powerful and ultimately triumphant novel of lives shattered and changed by one devastating moment.
Although frequent business meetings keep her husband, Brad, away from home, Page Clarke feels blessed with her happy family and comfortable marriage. They have a house near San Francisco and she keeps busy looking after

I read it to see what it was like.... humdrum...... plot thinly laid out too dymentional all characters were. It was a week for trail of the Stepford Wives, well actually even weaker than that. What would it be like to be the crowning Queen of dribble. What's worse than that, good hard working people pay money for that dribble. The
only use I can see for these types of books are an escape from reality.
No more Danielle Steel for me.
" The Princess Bride" was a far far superior book.

For a non-horror book, this one was a scary. I mean ignoring the 'happily after part', this book made me scared of the world out there.

And led me to think about so many things.

Oh and, reading Gone Girl and Accident in the same month? Not a good idea, trust me.
The first of many of her books to be read. A good story line and romance that's the trademark of Danielle. Flustered near the end when the boy had broken his arm and dislocated his shoulder. There's a part where the mother took the boy to baseball practice. Not one thing of his arm or shoulder was observed. What did the boy do at practice? His arm was in a cast. The ending was what one saw forthcoming.

Page-turner! Very interesting
I started this one yesterday out by the pool. It's amazing that she can fill 400+ pages with such a simple story. Wife w/perfect life has 15 yr old daughter that is in tragic accident. Life & marriage fall apart. It was a good story, her books are very consuming, they are predictable yet not. You just have to find out what is going to happen.
It was a good book. I liked the way the author revealed Page's past and slowly put up a picture of her life. I liked her relationship with her daughter, the friendly easygoing way she treated her. The romance was there but I felt it lacked something. In general it is a one time read kind of book for me.

Finally done with this. It began well. Got messier in-between and ended too fast. The story is about the life of a woman's struggle against her cheating spouse, domestic abuse, finding love and coping with an accident which leaves her daughter in a coma.

This story was a well written, interesting story. At times it had me with tears in my eyes and at others, I laughed out loud. A heart warming and very real book. It left me wanting to hear more about the characters.
Good story... Just wish she didn't repeat herself so much or give SO much detail to one thing over and over again. We get it. Just move on with the story!
Oh my about needing a whole box of tissues to get through a book. I do not have children but I know this is every parent's worse nightmare.
Wonderful Read!
Excellent reminder that life can change in a split second and don't judge others unless you have walked a mile in their shoes.

This book was loaned to me so I would have something to read but it has turned out to be quite good. I am not glued to the pages but I am curious enough to know what happens to keep reading it. So far Page's daughter has been in an almost fatal accident along with friends and Page discovers her husband has been having an affair because she could not reach him to tell him Allison is in the hospital. He comes home and admits he has but would like to continue with the fair and remain married. In th ...more
This is the book that started my brief interest in Danielle Steele. I liked it.

Danielle Steel seemed to make this book the most poignant book ever. I almost didn't finish reading it but forced myself to.
Her intentions seemed to want to include every terrible circumstance a woman can go through. This book includes a horrific automobile accident, death, a nacisstic cheating husband, abusive childhood, anorexia, a self-centered mother, a comatose daughter who may or may not live, and on and on. If it wasn't for a touch of romance and a hopeful future for Page, I would have gi

I really loved this book. It grabbed my attention right away. One reason that I liked the book so much is because there is always somethings going on and it throws in some surprising events.
This book is about two 15 year old girls Chloe and Allie and they tell a little white lie to their parents and tell them that they are staying at each other's houses so they can sneak out and go out with some older boys. There plan works and they go out with them but on the way home they get into a head on c
Accident was a very moving book. It's about a family who experiences tragedy, loss, love, and changes in a short amount of time. Allyson and Chloe go out with two older boys without their parents knowing and get into a terrible crash where the young driver dies and both girls are seriously injured. Allyson winds up in a coma and Chloe breaks some bones. While Allyson's in a coma her parents divorce after her father has an affair and her mother falls in love with Chloe's father. Her brother break ...more
I'm so afraid to read anymore Danielle Steele.....
The whiny reassurances in this book were too many for me to handle; "he was such a handsome and kind man with a bad wife", "he has a special son that he treats and takes care of so magnificently", she was so lovely but out of my league", "her daughter is in a coma and she is nearly hanging on by a thread so why is this happening to her, because she is such a lovely person". OH MY GOSH give it a rest! You are trying to make me feel 1 specific way
Accident epitomizes the saying that life can change in the blink of an eye.
One poor decision leads to an unforeseeable tragedy and Page's once perfect life starts to resemble the aftermath of a warzone. Her daughter Allyson’s life is hanging in the balance after a horrific car accident that left the driver of the car she in was dead and her best friend Chloe, who is a dancer, with two broken legs. Page’s family is ripped apart not by the accident itself but by the lies the accident reveals.

Danielle Steel is a guilty pleasure of mine. She's not the worst writer, but she definitely doesn't blow me away with her prose and storytelling. I thoroughly enjoy her books, but this one was a miss. It's a typical DS book. Beautiful family - tragedy strikes - people are sad - people overcome tragedy/learn to love again, but the story didn't move fast enough to keep me entertained. This one deals with some darker topics for a Steel novel, and I applaud her for covering some taboo subjects(if th ...more

this book made me cry, smile, laugh, and get angry. it is a very touching story about Page, her husband, Brad, and their children, Allyson and Andy. It starts off as Allie lieing to her mother about where is going and who she is going with. While out with her friends, Allie is involved in a tragic car accident. As Allie lays on a very thin line between life and death, Page feels her whole life fall apart in a matter of days. As she tries to find her find her husband to tell him about Allie's acc ...more

I liked Accident, but like other people it felt like their needed to be a bigger change in the pace of the story. The story seemed to carry along at the same rate after Paige's daughter had her accident; I kind of wish the ending had been more surprising...but definitely worth a read.

Since 1981, Ms. Steel has been a permanent fixture on the New York Times hardcover and paperback bestseller lists. In 1989, she was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having at least one of her books on the Times bestseller list for 381 consecutive weeks. But Guinness was premature. The fact is that one or more of Ms. Steel's novels have been on the New York Times bestseller list for ...more
