Page Clarke is a good mother, busy taking her seven-year-old son, Andy, to his baseball games and keeping careful watch over her fifteen-year-old daughter, Allison, who is trying her wings and testing her limits as she grows toward adulthood. Page's husband, Brad, is busy, too, with business meetings that often take him away from their suburban San Francisco home. But over ...more

Recommends it for: danielle steel fans
This was the first Danielle Steel I've ever read. I've kind of shied away from her writing all these years because I just couldn't bring myself to read "that kind" of writing. I started the book skeptical and I found that the writing could have been better (I rolled my eyes at plenty of her adjectives and metaphors), but the characters and the story kept me reading. In the end, I was disgusted by Brad, admired Page, and fell in love with all the teens and children in the book (especially Andy an ...more

Accident is an amazing family novel centered around Paige, mother of two and devoted wife. Paige feels incredibly lucky to have such a blessed life, until one night her teenage daughter Allyson tells a white lie that will transform the family forever, so far from normal that it can never go back. The two teenage girls, Allyson and Chloe, go to dinner with two older boys, lying to their parents that they are together. A car accident leaves Allyson in a coma and Chloe badly injured, one of the you ...more

Considering how much I moaned about the last Steel book I read (Hotel Vendome) this one was a big improvement and it's one of her older ones.

The start of this book when the accident happens is really emotional, I cried my way through pretty much all of it. Page just couldn't seem to get a break, first Allie and then her husband. What a rat he was!

I don't feel Steel forced how amazing the characters were on us so much in this one. Although Page's new love story happened pretty quickly.

This was my first Danielle Steel book and I think I expected a little more because she's a famous author. I liked the overall storyline, but she repeated herself so many times as far as their feelings, emotions, etc. that a few times I even thought I had read the same page already and had to check the page numbers! That was a little annoying. I think she could have left some of the repetition out and added more at the end telling how Addie took the news of her friends death, her parents split, a ...more

I found this book among a stack of books in my mother's room in an aged care facility when I was cleaning out after my mother passed away. There were quite a few Danielle Steele books in her collection. Apparently she liked this author. I don't. I find her books far too formulaic for my taste, and featuring a lot of poor grammar that irritates. (The overuse and incorrect use of ''as'' and ''while'' drives me nuts!)

''Accident'' has a worthy plot. It is the story of a woman who thought she lived i

I read it to see what it was like.... humdrum...... plot thinly laid out too dymentional all characters were. It was a week for trail of the Stepford Wives, well actually even weaker than that. What would it be like to be the crowning Queen of dribble. What's worse than that, good hard working people pay money for that dribble. The
only use I can see for these types of books are an escape from reality.
No more Danielle Steel for me.
" The Princess Bride" was a far far superior book.

For a non-horror book, this one was a scary. I mean ignoring the 'happily after part', this book made me scared of the world out there.

And led me to think about so many things.

Oh and, reading Gone Girl and Accident in the same month? Not a good idea, trust me.

The first of many of her books to be read. A good story line and romance that's the trademark of Danielle. Flustered near the end when the boy had broken his arm and dislocated his shoulder. There's a part where the mother took the boy to baseball practice. Not one thing of his arm or shoulder was observed. What did the boy do at practice? His arm was in a cast. The ending was what one saw forthcoming.

I started this one yesterday out by the pool. It's amazing that she can fill 400+ pages with such a simple story. Wife w/perfect life has 15 yr old daughter that is in tragic accident. Life & marriage fall apart. It was a good story, her books are very consuming, they are predictable yet not. You just have to find out what is going to happen.

It was a good book. I liked the way the author revealed Page's past and slowly put up a picture of her life. I liked her relationship with her daughter, the friendly easygoing way she treated her. The romance was there but I felt it lacked something. In general it is a one time read kind of book for me.

Finally done with this. It began well. Got messier in-between and ended too fast. The story is about the life of a woman's struggle against her cheating spouse, domestic abuse, finding love and coping with an accident which leaves her daughter in a coma.
This is another good one. Paige Clark's daughter, Allison, gets into a terrible head-on car accident. She has told Paige that she is just going over to spend the night with a friend. The girls instead meet up with some boys, and the car accident kills on boy, seriously injures Allison's friend Chloe, puts Allison in a coma she may never recover from, and the other boy suffers only mild injuries. Paige can't reach her husband, Brad, and when she does locate him he arrives much quicker than he cou ...more

This story was a well written, interesting story. At times it had me with tears in my eyes and at others, I laughed out loud. A heart warming and very real book. It left me wanting to hear more about the characters.

Good story... Just wish she didn't repeat herself so much or give SO much detail to one thing over and over again. We get it. Just move on with the story!

So, I read this book, when I was 16, during the same fall break that I read The Thief of Always, by Clive Barker. I finished that book so quickly and wanted something else to read while staying at my grandfather's. So, my well meaning aunt gave me this to read, and as my options were limited, I went ahead read and finished it. I realized pretty quickly that I wasn't into heavy romance novels like this. I can respect Danielle Steele is a good writer, her genre is just not for me.

This book was loaned to me so I would have something to read but it has turned out to be quite good. I am not glued to the pages but I am curious enough to know what happens to keep reading it. So far Page's daughter has been in an almost fatal accident along with friends and Page discovers her husband has been having an affair because she could not reach him to tell him Allison is in the hospital. He comes home and admits he has but would like to continue with the fair and remain married. In th ...more

This book had a very nice plot and I loved the way everything tied together. I don't want to spoil anything but I would recommend this book the only reason I didn't give it a full five stars is because I wanted more information in the end I wasn't satisfied with the end, does brad marry Stephanie? does andy eventually like her? does Allison get a full recovery ? also find it kinda annoying that's she waited the verry last min to tell her readers ally woke up. it's almost like there should be a s ...more

Danielle Steel seemed to make this book the most poignant book ever. I almost didn't finish reading it but forced myself to.
Her intentions seemed to want to include every terrible circumstance a woman can go through. This book includes a horrific automobile accident, death, a nacisstic cheating husband, abusive childhood, anorexia, a self-centered mother, a comatose daughter who may or may not live, and on and on. If it wasn't for a touch of romance and a hopeful future for Page, I would have gi
