Claire just turned eighteen so her mom is taking her down to the blood bank to be tested as a donor. In Claire's world, the vampire royals rule along with humans and humans donate blood to help feed vampires. They even learn all about vampire politics in school. The vampire King and Queen long ago wanted humans and vampires to be able to live in peace so they set up the donor system. Some humans are against this and protest but Claire's mom is a vampire activist and believes in working together...more

From the moment I discovered Savor I was on my hands and knees, begging Megan Duncan for a chance to read it in advance. The cover was what had originally caught my eye—it’s just so very pretty—but it was the synopsis that really piqued my interest. At the time Megan had told me she wasn’t quite done writing Savor but she would be happy for me to review it once it was ready. So when I woke up one day to find it w...more

I’m not big into the vampire scene. Ok, I liked the Twilight books. Hell, I wanted my own Edward. I read all the books before I went and saw the first movie because I wanted to see what all the hype was. Since that series though, I haven’t been able to get into any type of vampire books. I read Vampire Academy after so many people told me how good it was, and it just didn’t do much for me. Now you’re probably wondering why I read Savor. Here’s my honest answer. I wanted to participate in the blo...more

This is the second book that I have read by Megan Duncan (my first being "Released") and as such I find it difficult not to compare the two. One of my largest complaints about "Released" was that I found the book to be lacking in description (Megan's writing style was very to the point, with little dilly-dallying to it) and therefore I had a difficult time connecting to scenes, however I did not find myself experiencing that feeling whatsoever as I read this book- ever...more

Let me first start by saying I read Megan's book, Released a while back and did a review on it so when she contacting me to read her newest book, Savor - I was thrilled to be able to read another one of her books and Savor was all that I hoped it would be and more! I loved the whole idea of the beginning of the book. Where in the world, humans know about Vampires and respect them. Once a human turns 18 years of age they are required to donate blood at a local blood bank to help provide food for...more

Savor begins a bit slow, but quickly picks up momentum. I struggled at first with connecting to the story, but soon enough the story sucked me in. Claire is a likable heroine, but not a particularly memorable one. In a sea of YA vampire characters, she just did not make a big enough splash for me. That being said, I will admit as the book progressed she did in fact grow on me.

Although, I feel it was Robin who really stole the show for me. Robin is a member of Claire’s new royal vampire family an...more

A fast-paced read and I loved it! Megan Duncan takes you on a journey that does spellbind you, even if you don't typically read this genre. From the first page, I was drawn in & instantly began to love Claire, an 18 year old chick that's just stoked that it's her birthday. In a world ruled by vampires, it's not too different from our world, except that there are blood-donations to be made. The day after her birthday, Claire gets a visit that changes her life & is whisked away to what is...more

WOW, I loved how original Megan Duncan's Young Adult Paranormal Vampire story was! Reading this genre can get VERY repetitive, but this one really stands out!

Claire, is such a likable character. I really felt like she was well developed and easy to relate to and care for as a reader.

The Vampires are not in hiding in this book, they are actually the rulers! They rule over the humans without the humans even ever have seen them. They are still very reculsiv...more

Holy cow. Can I read this? Can I power through? Will I live to see the end of it?

I'm not sure if it's because I'm reading a kindle-version of the book, but this thing has so many grammar mistakes that it's making my head hurt. And it's not just a typo here or there, a missing apostrophe every once in a while. No, it's the whole darn thing. Every time a character opens his or her mouth, it makes me want to cry because it's so outlandish, so not the way people speak. The random switchoff between c...more

The book takes place in a world where vampire royalty rules the land. When you turn 18, you get your blood tested and get a donor card. When Claire gets her blood tested she is soon visited by an ambassador of the royal vampire family. Claire is told her blood is perfect and is invited to the palace to become a princess, adopted vampire daughter to the reigning monarchy. Claire's mother is ecstatic, Claire...not so much. Eventually, Claire decides to accept the proposition. She likes the idea of...more

This is an interesting story. Good plot, good world-building, likable characters.

It fell short due to run on and/or awkwardly worded sentences. There were also instances of wrong word usage.

It was slow at times, and the villains were completely predictable.

That said, I enjoyed the book for the most part. I liked this different version of vampires and their society. I am left intrigued by the other regions. Dmitry, Robin, and Arrick are great supporting characters. I don't trust Fox and- this may...more

This is the first book in a new series by Megan Duncan, the author of Released. Claire Miller is your average girl, living in a region where vampires and humans coexist relatively peacefully. She and her best friend Liz are freshly 18, dreaming of what comes next for them. Nothing could have prepared Claire; not even 18 for more than 24 hours and Claire's life turns upside down.

From the moment I started the book, I was hooked. With so much vampire fiction on the market, as much as I love it, som...more

Savor wasn't that bad of a book. It was pretty typical in a vamp story sort of way and I actually liked it. But there were somethings that bugged me about it.
First, I have to say, this is like my third kindle book that I have read, and I have noticed with all of them there is a LOT of grammar problems, this book probably being one of the worst so far. But, though it can be very irritating, I can look past them and continue with the story.
Another thing, that kind of went along with this, was som...more

After reading this book I was in love. In love with the writing, the characters and the plot line. I just loved the book so much!

What I loved the most is the plot line. It was intense and kept me reading faster. I love how easy it was for me to fall into the book and not looked back. I liked how Ms. Duncan threw surprises at every pages turn. A new secret, a new rule, a new hate, a new person! So much to gobble down that it is extremely filling!

I love how the characters feeling were well detaile...more

Within a week of turning 18, Claire Miller has realized she has “perfect blood” was claimed by and turned into a vampire by the ruling family, found a new family, a new best friend, a pair of mortal enemies and a crush. A pretty exciting week in the life of anyone, let alone a girl who thinks of herself as nothing special, and feels both forgotten and misunderstood by her mother.

I had purchased this book a few months back, and it has been updated by the people at Amazon once, with a note that s...more

Is that cover not beautiful? Ok, so when I won this I hadn't heard of the series before and was ready to give it a go. I am so glad I did!

Everyone knows there are Vampires and The Royal Vampire family rule over Claire's region. I loved the storyline it's a unique take on Vamps. Everyone over 18 makes "donations" to the royal family. You get a donor card just like a drivers licence, wicked cool. You get a glimpse of the human characters that surround Claire and well I thou...more

If you are like me and seek the truly unique story lines, "Savor" is the book for you. Yes, the story is about vampires; but, not like any other vampire series you have ever read.

On Claire Miller's 18th birthday, she heads down to the vampire blood bank with her mother to have her blood tested and obtain her donor i.d. card. After going out on the town with her best friend, Liz she decides to sleep in late the next day. Unfortunately, her mother has other plans for her when an unexpected visitor...more

Vampires are everywhere these days- in books, on tv, in the movies-so much so, that for a paranormal novel about vampires to standout amongst its peers it must truly be fresh, original, and captivating. Megan Duncan’s Savor is all these things. Savor is an edgy, sexy, fast paced, exceptionally well written vampire novel.

Claire is a normal 18 year old girl living in a world where vampires rule. Human...more

You know you are really into a new book/series/author when you go and buy the next book before you even finish reading the first one. I loved this book. It sucked me in from the first chapter, no struggling to get into this read to review book here. There was some things that I found peculiar like the fact the Claire's birth mother would let her go so easily, but with what you discover at the end of the book maybe it makes sense. This is a very interesting world Ms. Duncan has created and I look...more

Megan Duncan created a brilliant piece of work here. A combination of a unique and interesting plot, fun characters, and an intriguing world create an enthralling read for every paranormal lover out there.

So Savor was a solid 3 stars for me. I liked reading it but it's not something I'm gonna shout to the mountains about. Claire was hard for me to wrap my head around. One minute I was completely on her team the next second I wanted to hit her upside her head. The whole "I love Dmitry" thing kind of rubbed me the wrong way especially when she was all "my mystery man", I just kind of felt that she was trying to fight this "bond" she has with Arrick and settle for Dmitry someone she knew for all of...more

I just want to say WOW. I love Megan Duncan's style of writing and this story is original and captivating.

Claire has just turned 18 and has to register for a Blood ID card. The Royal Family are all vampires, and the people of the land have to donate blood each month as food for them. The land is peaceful and the vampires rule fairly. Claire then gets invited to be adopted by the royal family - to become their princess. Leaving her world behind Claire embarks on a dangerous journey.

I loved the id...more

Ok, I absolutely loved this cover, it is gorgeous! Actually all of Megan Duncan’s book covers are fantastic they really make you want to pick up all of her books, and honestly I’m attracted to any (pretty) red cover. So, does the book hold up to cover? Well, mostly, there are some serious redundancy issues, there were a couple of sentences where the word ‘family’ was repeated 5 or 6 or more times and you just want to yell “I GET IT, MOVE ON” but really those instances are sparse. Also there were...more

At first, all I could think of was that this book was Princess Diaries mixed with Twilight. Girl gets plucked out of her real life and placed into one of royalty and a love triangle develops. However, the political games and danger are all a work of Megan Duncan. The relationships are heartfelt and the romance is just under the skin, waiting to explode. Considering the main character is only 17, you can understand why its not as fiery as it could be. The more I got into this book, the more I lov...more
Amy The Book Diaries
What a great story! It was so different than the traditional vampire stories. I like that they were apart of normal society. They are treated as royalty. It was intriguing in the beginning trying to figure out where the story was going. At the end I was completely blindsighted with the story behind Claire. Way to go, I can't wait for the second book.

Claire a teen girl lives in a society where vampires rule and actually respect humans. Although other regions not of where she lives would probably frown on her region's vampires. The vampires in her society require one thing though from humans: blood donations. During her visit to a blood donation center a most surprising thing happens. Claire would have to decide whether the vampire royalty in her society really need her for...more

Claire has just turned eighteen. She’s looking forward to partying with her best friend, Liz. But first she has to get her Donor ID card. Claire lives in a society protected by the Vampire Royal family. All the vampires ask in return for this protection is regular blood donations. Now she’s eighteen, Claire must get her blood checked out, to make sure it’s all ok for the royal family. Only, Claire’s blood is special. And she is chosen to be the vampire Princess. Interesting concept - I like the completely different take the author gave the vampire leaders in this region. She accounts for the hows and whys, and definitely gives this radical faction opposition.

What I didn't find 'believable' was the modern speech patterns and, more importantly, the lack of relationship development. Claire just starts feeling certain ways - even before she turns in to a vampire - and you're supposed to just swallow that pill as is. I really didn't feel her and a certain lo...more

The premise was good, but as I kept reading I got more and more bored and fed up with how juvenile and lame the characters behaved. The two main girls, Claire and her friend, are supposedly 18 (her friend technically older as she's been a vamp for several years) but they act like boy-crazy 15 year olds. If I have to read any more inane banter between the two of them I think I'll quit reading...oh wait. I already quit reading. Claire is boring and tedious and stupid, and if there's a single chara...more

Savor was one of those books that I whimsically downloaded because Amazon had it for free on their site. There were some glaring typos, unfinished sentences and a few cases of homonym replacement. I'm used to reading something more polished, but it was free.

The story itself was closer to a short story than a novel. I felt it could have been fleshed out extraneously in order to fix some of the issues I had with the pacing. The romance, from the presentation, felt forced, as though the characters,...more
