Not bad.
Went from being a quaint little conspiracy story set on a future/parallel/past planet? to vaguely sci-fi epic. Although to be fair most of the 'epic' quality is insinuated more than anything else. Mostly about the characters. Some Religious connotations were a little disappointing, but never mind.
If you are stuck for a weekend read, you could do worse.
