Psycho-analyst Lara lives in a near-future resource-poor Seattle where she tries to restrict her use of psychic abilities to the minimum. But sometimes she’s pushed too hard to keep her powers down. Sometimes her skills reveal too much… And sometimes there’s more to life and dreams than the everyday world can imagine.

When Lara is attacked, a patient’s life is in danger, and shared dreams bind people together, it’s time to understand all those Jungian symbols and work out what “the collective” is

This was an interesting read with a different type of storyline. The plot was a blend of ancient mythology, folklore and present day.
The world is running out of resources and is in the throws of a major collapse. Lara, Our main character has a PHD in psychology and seems to be oblivious to what is going on around her. Trevor is the counter part to Lara, works for the airlines and seems to be very in tune with the decline in the world order. Throw in the gift of visions that seem to be coming mo

Today's review is on Psyche's Prophecy by Ann Gimpel

Being a Mental Health Therapist myself, I was intrigued by the description of Psyche's Prophecy, and just had to add it to my list of books to review. And though I am not a huge follower of the Jungian method of treatment, I was still pleased to see the authenticity of danger that sometimes can happen my profession.

Lara McInnis is a successful Psychologist in Seattle, Washington. Living with her long-term boyfriend Trevor, she has turned a blin

In a style that blends in hints of Ray Bradbury and Stephen Donaldson, this contemporary fantasy "eco-thriller" set in Seattle and surroundings could be taking place next week or in the next 20, 50 or 100 years. Author Ann Gimpel lets the readers slip easily inside the heads of the main characters Lara and Trevor--a very real couple with all its flaws and imperfections--and Gimpel's background in psychology gives us a rare understanding of what they're thinking and feeling. When Lara and Trevor, ...more

The First Line: "Lara McInnis fidgeted in the ginger-colored overstuffed chair taking up most of one corner of her cozy psychotherapy office."

My Take: This book wasn't too bad but I just couldn't seem to get into it. It took me around three days to finish and I had to force myself to read. In the end it was a good read but definitely not one that makes you want to just sit and read nonstop because it's so good and you can't wait to see what happens. The characters are enjoyable and the plot is g

Living out her daily life as a psychotherapist, Dr. Lara McInnis advised her patients on various conditions and ailments. Her days revolved around therapy sessions, teaching psychology classes at the local university, Trevor, her long-time lover, and her motherly secretary, Arabel. Her life was stressful, busy and mundane.

When Lara agrees to give marriage counselling to a couple, the mundane becomes insanity. Disgruntled about the advice she gives to his wife, Lara becomes the target of a kill

I received a copy of Psyche's Prophecy by Ann Gimpel in exchange for my honest review. Lara McInnis seems like an everyday, ordinary psychologist until she decides to marriage counsel a couple, trouble begins. Apparently, the husband didn't appreciate the advice she gave his wife and now he's out to get her. Then Lara begins having a bizarre dream, as she, her fiance and some of her student experience the dream and try to decode it, They come to the only feasible conclusion they see...the end of ...more

In Psyche's Prophecy, author Ann Gimpel takes us to a near and possible future in which resources are scarce and rolling blackouts and gasoline shortages are increasing. Amid this burgeoning dystopia, psychotherapist Lara McGinnis stays busy, counseling disturbed teenagers, OCD patients, and couples with marital problems.
