Ride ‘Em Hard Cowboy by J.P. Bowie

The first story in this anthology features Sheriff Joel Harper and Jason Sherwood, an attorney who works with him on a case. This is a well-written and entertaining novella length story. Both main characters are likable and as they work together to clear Joel's name and catch the bad guys they go from lust to love very quickly. Their relationship, despite how fast it develops, is interesting and fun to read. Ride 'Em Hard Cowboy is fast-paced, with a plot that f...more

Okay. I was so looking forward to reading this. What could go wrong when cowboys and man love are involved? Well, I was disappointed to discover that several things can go wrong. I know these are short stories and the story must be told in a short amount of time, but there should be A story. Not just screwing their brains out at every available opportunity! Don't get me wrong, I love my SMUT but I happen to like dialogue and a little reality too to go along with it.

Anyhow, some of these stories...more
I'm not a big fan of Anthologies, but this one had two authors in it that I enjoy reading, J.P. Bowie and Jan Irving. Both their stories were great.

The other three authors were new to me, but I did enjoy all their stories. I look forward to reading other books by these authors.
Usually I'm not a big fan of anthologies, but here I think they're only hits and no miss. Really liked this book!
I'm never sure how to review an anthology. Do I review each story individually? Do I review the book as one unit? Or, is the proper way a hybrid of the two? I don't know. Until someone can enlighten me I'll do a hybrid review. Saddle Up 'N Ride contains the works of some very well known authors, some that I've read before and liked. It was on that basis that I bought the book. Overall I enjoyed the book. Some of the stories are better than others, but none of them are truly awful. However, the s...more

If you are a fan of male/male cowboy stories, the Saddle Up ‘N Ride anthology is definitely the book for you. This terrific novel showcases many talented authors, and the stories are varied and well written.

Ride ‘em Hard Cowboy by J. P. Bowie is an engaging story with a well rounded and appealing cast of characters. The romance between Sheriff Joel Harper and lawyer Joel Sherwood is intensely passionate, and the resulting sex is blazing hot. The investigation into who is vandalizing Joel’s prop...more

Ride ‘Em Hard Cowboy: There's a story between Toby and Brent (or at least that's the impression I'm getting) that I'm more interested in reading. Also the fact that Jason took a 10-incher with only some rimming, minimum prep and no lube is totally pain free and manageable. There were some really awkward 1st person thoughts and dialogues. 2.5 stars.

Roping his Man: 3.5 stars

A Fistful of Emmett: Little boring and repetitive. 2 stars.

Sing For Your Supper: Don't do 3somes so 1 star.

Jack's Way: 4 star...more

There wasn't a short story in this anthology that I didn't like. I liked Jack's Way, Sing for Your Supper and Straight Cowboy the best. Good intensity and interaction between the MCs. I could definitely read more about those characters. I thought the best cowboy depiction was Jack in Jack’s Way. That is the first work by Em Woods that I have read and I look forward to reading more by her. I enjoyed this book very much.

It's not often that I enjoy every tale in an anthology, and I'm very pleased to tell you that this is one of those exceptions. All these stories were interesting, had nicely fleshed out characters (considering that they are all short stories), were fast-paced, and kept me interested. Well done!
Pretty good mix of stories here. Some I definitely liked more than others. I think my favorite two were Jack's Way by Em Woods and Straight Cowboy by Jan Irving. All in all, a great anthology and I definitely love me some cowboys!
Really liked the Em Woods story about the architect.
The story before it was CRAP.
The first two were really good too.

I have one to go I think, it's Jan Irving so it's got great potential.

A very good anthology - my two favorites were "Roping His Man" by Simone Anderson and "Straight Cowboy" by Jan Irving, but like I said, all of the stories were quite good :D
Each story was interesting but the one that I enjoyed the most was by J.P. Bowie, so much so that I bought the other two that went along with this one in the story.
