The grave is one wrong step away. Having narrowly averted an (under)world war, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans' voodoo queen just keeps on giving--leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit. Centuries ago, Heinrich ...more

"Do you know Kramer considered women responsible for everything from impotence to failed crops-and that's not getting started on his obsession with their inherently evil, insatiable slutty natures, of course." Bones's mouth curled. "Want to kill him a great deal now, do you?" "Oh, so much."-Cat and Bones

I began One Grave at a Time with this expression: and ended with this one:

The main reasons why I adore the Night Huntress novels:

1. Bones.
2. Cat.
3. The romance between the two.
4. Amusing and awesome side characters (Vlad!).
5. Lots of awww-worthy scenes.
6. An utterly engaging plot.

Of those six reasons, only one of them is found in One Grave at a Time in abundance, and that is Cat. There is not nearly enough Bones, none of Vlad, almost no cute and heart-stopping fights/playful bantering betwe
It seems that the cover for the 6th book is out already...
And guess what, they change the model! I admit I like the previous model, but this one not bad either :)Her hair is down, and the cat finally make appearance *hello Van Helsing*

I love the stepback too...

Like always, we can't see ALL Bones's face, but no problem :P

The release date is August, 30th, so we just wait 3 months to read this. Good, I really hate waiting so long... Just ordered my copy! LOL!

I didn't like it. I didn't hate it. I did expect more. Part of the allure of this series is the great cast of characters: Cat and Bones and their amazing secondary characters - Ian, Spade, Mencheres, Marie, and Justine. This book fell flat for me. Once again, I found myself with the dreaded book ADHD. I constantly put down the book and did other stuff. I never did that with the earlier books.

Here's the thing - Cat and Bones have lost their sizzle. Yes, Bones is still hot and he has rippling musc

The Night Huntress series is a big guilty pleasure of mine. I love the characters, the dialogue and each new challenge presented to Cat and Bones in every book. They are not deep stories and there is quite a large emphasis on romance and sex, rather than mysteries, but they're pleasurable and addictive... like chocolate. And they're also better than a great deal of the paranormal genre because Jeaniene Frost writes fantastic characters and banter between them.

It's more than just paranormal roma

I own every book Jeaniene Frost has written. I Love Cat and Bones. The first four books in the series are just plain old awesome. The last book (5) was just OK, it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I think I rated it four stars, but more of 3.5. This latest book--One Grave at a Time, just wasn't that good. I'm sorry to say it, because I really love Ms. Frost, and I don't want to insult her hard work, but I owe it to my blog readers to put aside my personal feelings towards the author, and give my ...more

I'm hoping and praying that Frost has the strength to be one of the few authors out there who are able to carry her hero & heroine through to the end of their series while keeping them both alive and happily together as a couple. If any two characters ever deserved a HEA, its Cat and Bones. They are the best couple character ever written hands down. They are madly in love with no bull***t and no stupid love triangle (SO SO sick of authors writing 2 or more guys for their heroine to choose fr ...more

Not the best book in the series but at least I didn't DNF it on my second try.

This is going to hurt me to say this but......

This is the weakest book in this series.....WEAK WEAK WEAK!!!!!

Whewwwwww that hurt my heart to say that because every book in this series so far is KICK ASS!!!! Let me just say I only have ONE more book to complete this series so 6 out of 7 KICK ASS books is a great ratio!!!!

However will one book keep me away from finishing the MOST BADASS PNR/UF SERIES> I've ever read.......

So onward I march to last book!!!!!!

Being an avid reader of the first 5 books, it's evident that the series is sadly beginning to lose momentum. It seemed like the author was clutching at straws with the plot to create a completely out-of-the-blue arch enemy that you somehow fail to care about.

What I have loved in all of the previous books, even when Cat and Bones were fighting, was the strong emotions causing through the main character, the fast-paced action, the great side-characters, the witty remarks, and of course the passion
ONE GRAVE AT A TIME was everything and more after my slight disappointment with the last book. I think I didn't realize how much I actually missed Cat and Bones until I started reading this book and then my love came back blasting in at full speed. Cat and Bones are back again this time are trying to capture a bad guy who is already dead and the question that arises is how are you suppose to kill someone that is already dead.

ONE GRAVE AT A TIME is more filled with action then romance if you ask

Cat’s got her hands full in this one. As the Red Reaper, she’s been on death’s door plenty of times. But when a threat to all women arises, Cat can’t seem to keep her temper at bay. Vengeance must be served and Cat is more than willing to dish it out.

Kramer, a sick-minded ghost who has the ability to become flesh and bone on All Hollow’s Eve is on the rampage, willing to brutalize women he believes to be witches. In his human years, he has brutalized woman and burned them alive. Beyond death, he

"“There were words for what he meant to me, but if I studied every language ever spoken for the next thousand years, I still wouldn’t find enough of them to describe it.”

Although the story was a little cheesier than normal, it was still fun in the halloween haunt type of way. Bones and Cat are still adjusting to Cat's strange powers and changes, when they suddenly have a new villain - a powerful ghost determined to kill 'witches' every Halloween to boost his own power. I have been looking forward to this book for ages, I am a HUGMONGOUS fan of this series, Cat and Bones are one of my favorite couples and well, you all know how I feel about Bones....*trails off into a day dream involving silk ties, whipped cream and big fangs* Anyway, so I was looking forward to this book, but for me it didn't quite reach 5 stars.

I think one of the main reasons this didn't reach 5 stars was because it felt like a novella that had been stretched as much as possible to try and r

This is crazy I haven't read This Side of the Grave yet and I want this book so bad!!!

Update 7 June 2011:

Okay, I really want this to be published already, I keep re-reading the series thinking that by the time I do this will be out, unfortunately I can't time travel to October...

Gah!!! Just finished, review to come in a couple days. (:

3.5 stars? It's just because I miss Mencheres and Vlad. Why is the gang incomplete??? Plus, Cat and Bones sexy times are getting lesser and lesser.

I can't wait to read this! It's such a brilliant series, aahhh, and Bones is so hot. I wish I had a Bones, hehe.

I'll be honest. I went into this book fearing the worst. The last installment in this series left me wanting and I was afraid the best days of Cat & Bones were behind us. This book didn't quite measure up to the glory of the early books, but it was better than the last one.

It picks up shortly after where the events of This Side of the Grave left off. Cat is still carrying the residual effects of Marie Laveau's blood magic. And her uncle Don has appeared to her as a ghost. He can't move on to

Hmmm, this one is stuck right in the middle of three and four stars and neither fit! All the things we love about this series are present - just not a whole novels worth.

I love Cat and Bones and, unlike others, I love their relationship in this book. Rather than all the drama between them, their's is a solid yet deepening relationship with a love so strong it's palpable. That is wonderfully refreshing and encouraging. I love how Ms. Frost writes their relationship, the subtle looks,
I'm giving this one a strong 3.5 stars. I love Jeaniene Frost and this series. Bones and Cat have become two of my all time favorite fictional characters. Yet, I just couldn't get into this story as I had done with the others. I did enjoy meeting some new characters. Tyler is a hoot and I hope there will be more of him in the future books. Elizabeth was a welcomed addition and I love that her and Fabian now have each other. I'm really not sure what it was about this one that didn't have me over ...more

Yup, another re-read and I totally want to sing the Ghostbusters theme song now ;)

Cat and Bones definitely face a different challenge this time around and I have to admit, their new challenge was something I hadn’t read about before. So that’s always a huge bonus for me. Although I suppose that Cat and Bones didn’t get to show their moves all that much this time around. However for once their relationship wasn’t questioned at every turn which I enjoyed very much.

I also would’ve wished for more i

One Grave at a Time is book six in one of my favorite paranormal series. What I love is that Jeaniene Frost has given us a series where the hero and heroine has had a very strong relationship since book one. Okay, maybe they had some time apart between book one and book two (four years, but who is counting?) but for the most part these two have been a couple. They have had their ups and their very big downs, but Jeaniene Frost has made their relationship fresh and engaging in each book. She has ...more

Aaaaaah *smells the book* the sweet smell of one of my favorite drugs. I’m addicted to this series. And I have a major crush on Bones. There I said it! So imagine how excited I was about this. Hell I was counting down the days until it got released. *sigh* I kind of regret it now.

The score I’m going to give it will be a bit cruel. I really wanted to give it a perfect one but I can’t. It doesn’t compare to the previous ones. *prays* Please don’t ruin another series for me! I’ve already have a cou

This book picks up with Cat and Bones at their house with their ghost friend, Fabian. Fabian brings over a friend of his who has been trying to kill another ghost for hundreds of years. Kramer is a very powerful and evil ghost so naturally Cat has to go help before Kramer gets to carry out his evil plan.

There is a bit of a background story with a new guy, Madigan, who is a major jerk. I kept expecting something more to come of him but I'm guessing that will happen in future books.

There is no vampire couple in the urban fantasy world that is sexier or more lovable than Cat and Bones. That is a fact.

They are so sweet and passionate and fiercely protective of one another.

"There were words for what he meant to me, but if I studied every language ever spoken for the next thousand years, I still wouldn't find enough of them to describe it."

Cat continues to be funny, selfless, kindhearted, and courageous. While Bones is his usual suave, cunning, and lethally po

Love Cat and Bones and it was nice to get back to them after a year long break for me. Their relationship is solid, and it's great to just focus on how much they love each other instead of questioning their motives behind every move.

The reason for the low rating is that I felt like this book was very different from the rest of the series. Cat's team only made a few cameo appearances and Mencheres and Vlad were completely absent. I guess I know that they can't all be in every book, but i

It's not quite a solid 4 star book, but considering it's the 6th book in the series, I thought it held up pretty well. If you're a big fan of Cat and Bones, I don't think this one will disappoint.

There's a pretty interesting story running in the background Don and the new head of the paranormal police department...or whatever they're called. You know, the guys Cat used to work for before she got all juiced up and went off with Bones? To me, that was just as interesting as the whole gho
