This is the 8th in the In Death series.

It is early winter right after the New Year 2059 and Eve is called to the murder scene of a sidewalk sleeper. Wondering why "homicide lite" simply doesn't handle the case, Eve quickly learns the reason why. The old homeless man who was murdered had his heart neatly, surgically removed.

At the crime scene Eve bumps heads with a troublemaker cop who has been jealous of Eve since the academy days when Eve, even then, was a star on the fast track.

In the course

What is there to say that hasn’t been said countless times by JD Robb? She’s brilliant and Conspiracy in Death, the eight book in the In Death series is great!

Eve Dallas is simply the best at what she does. And others have started to take notice. When a fellow cop, Bowers the bitch starts hassling Eve on her turf, Eve has no choice but to defend herself. With a few heated words and early threats, things seem to be close to its boiling point rather than simmering down.

This one kicked me right in the teeth. I am so invested in these characters, and this was the book that almost broke Eve, and the way that is written? Holy. Just holy mother of gut punchers. Every character comes to bat in this one for Eve and that alone had me squeezing the life out of the book. And then you have Roarke and you have his relationship with Eve and the combination of what he's thinking up against what he knows he has to do for her? This has to be one of the most interesting and de ...more

What can I say? For the longest time I listed Conspiracy as my favorite InDeath.net book. Louise Dimatto becomes entrenched in the series, all the angst I can handle with Eve losing her badge, and Mira weeping at the fashion show. Re-reading it for the fifth or sixth time it does seem to drag in parts. Still a great read and a terrific final scene.

Wow. Just wow. This is one of my favorite books in the series to date. It was, quite simply, fabulous.

Whether you've read one book in the series or eight, you know one simple fact. Eve is a cop. It's everything to her. Her role as a police officer is tangled up with her identity as a person. Her self worth, her purpose in life, is all tied into her job. In this book that is taken away and it breaks her. She is not the tough as nails cop that we have seen before. She gains a fragility and vulner

Este Conspiracy In Death surpreendeu-me do início ao fim.

I'm loving these police procedurals and am racing through this series. What will I read when I'm done? I've even put off reading the latest Elemental Assassin (one of my faves) because I am absorbed in Eve and Roarke.

It was great to see the other side of Eve. Poor Eve. I was a bit angry at Roarke for not being very sympathetic for long but I guess he know what she needed.

The mind of the author is truly terrifying sometimes...and maybe I am for reading this two. The homicide cases seem to get mor

Eve setzt Feeney ...more

These books are truly popcorn for the mind... there's really no nutritional value in them, but they are super easy to read and I know I'm always guaranteed certain scenarios -- there will always be a good love scene between Eve and Rourke; there will always be some sort of twisty murder mystery that isn't *too* taxing on the brain to solve; there will always be witty comebacks between Eve and Peabody and Somerset and McNab and Feany (and the rest of the gang!). Each one always seems to be better ...more

There were so many great things about this book, I can not even begin to mention them all. I've re-read it many times and each time find new nuances that strike me from familiar scenes. This time around I was struck by Feeney's feelings when Eve was stripped of her badge and some things he said after they had gone "rogue" and were continuing to investigate together. As always my favorite part of the book is when Roarke has to verbally kick at Eve to bring her out of her grief. Then later, after ...more

As with the other books in this series there is lots going on in the life of Eve Dallas and Roarke certainly was with her all the way.

Again another great book in the series

Lieutenant Eve Dallas of NYPSD and wife of Roarke sent out to investigate sidewalker sleeper death. Eve receives flak from Officer Bowers to which she replies about sloppy police work in securing the scene. Sidewalker sleeper's death is surgically clean but as the investigation continues more cases come to light that are similar. More shocking is that Eve comes under fire by a complaint given by Officer Bowers. Eve is frustrated that she has to answer this complaint taking time away from the cas ...more

Over Christmas break I went on an "Eve and Roarke" binge. It was awesome.

But, the books really are the same - Eve is tough as nails and Roarke is patient and sweet. There's a grisly case that Roarke is somehow connected too and Eve gets annoyed with him. Roarke uses his fancy tech toys to help Eve with her case and she gets annoyed with him again, but accepts all the help anyway.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with a tried and true formula, but it does mean that after several books a br

This is my third time listening to this book. I'm doing them in order this time as I increase my collection with the mp3 format. I thoroughly enjoyed it as much as the other times, and probably will listen to it again. The characters are what really make this series, although this is one of my favorite looks into Eve Dallas as she struggles with her identity. I find a lot of the mystery plots unique in the way that they are handled. Not all of her books are based on the serial killer formula, bu ...more

Conspiracy in Death was the first In Death book that just didn't grab and hold my attention like the others in the series. I mean there were moments where I was interested in the mystery and what was going on, but then moments would come where it lost me. I would almost have more enjoyed the whole book to focus on Eve regaining her badge instead of that incident stemming from the case Eve was working on. I think there could have been a good story where Eve just butted heads with Bowers, Bowers w ...more

4.5 stars if not 5.

Only reason it's not 5 was the crime was a bit predictable, but still very suspenseful. It was such a huge and connected crime. I'd want to see the capturing of the rest of the netnork instead of 1 guy and then listed a bunch of names, all high positioned too. The confessions and capturing of the rest would have been challenging and not to be left off.

Anywho, Eve, Roarke and company earned a huge 5 star! this facet of IN DEATH was rich, emotional, endearing and so fun to read.

Conspiracy in Death is another great addition to this series. Dallas and Peabody get called on the homicide case that should have been left to the “uniforms”. Unfortunately, if you don’t live on the right side of town or have the wrong profession you don’t warrant a detective to solve your case? Anyway, they were called because not only was the man murdered but his heart was surgically removed. The surgery was clean, precise and professionally done. Not too long after, Dallas and Peabody come ac ...more

Gosh, Eve Dallas is angry. Dallas, the main character in Robb/Roberts popular "In Death" series, has a lot to be angry about, I guess. She's still recovering from a genuinely awful, abusive childhood -- enough to make anyone cranky. The mysteries she solves are pretty standard police procedurals with a lot of sci-fi type language thrown in (she solves crimes in a futuristic New York). She has a cool assistant. And did I mention her husband? Multi-gajillionaire, gorgeous, super-thoughtful, and gr ...more

In a single word, brilliant. There was angst, anger, excitement and of course murder. And how could I forget conspiracy! The story was fast paced and the plot twists plentiful. I did not predict the final reveal and while I would have preferred more of a resolution, there was enough. Greatly looking forward to reading the next one.

Another great installment in this series! I found this to be a little different from the previous books in the series - not as many Eve and Roarke love scenes (which I'm sort of glad for), a lot of playfulness between Eve and Roarke (yes, I'm talking the snowman building scene), and the big difference (view spoiler). I love that Roarke is willing to help Eve out with her cases, and I love even more that she's willing to let him help. ...more

Having now read most of the books in this series, it struck me as a nice surprise to come across a new adventure of Dallas, Lieutenant Eve, and her trusted sidekick, Peabody, Detective Delia. Naturally, other favourites and 'regulars' - such as hubby Rourke, Feeney, Mira, Whitney, Mavis, Morris and many more - make an appearance as well, with both professional and personal issues covered as well as more insights into Dallas' past.
The main issues covered in this adventure are the 'Gods in White'

Lt. Eve Dallas and her assistant Delia Peabody, are called to a crime scene by Officers Ellen Bowers and Troy Trueheart where a sidewalk sleeper named Snooks is found dead. Snooks was killed when his heart was removed by what appears to be a very skilled surgeon. When Dallas digs a bit further, she discovers that this crime is connected to another committed in New York City where an aged licensed companion died as the result of her liver being removed. After even more digging, Dallas discovers a ...more

This series is great - I love Eve and Roarke more and more. I kind of thought in the last book, Holiday in Death, that their interactions with each other were a bit repetitive and that hearing them say, "I love you!" over and over was getting a bit much, but this book just handled their relationship in such a new and creative way. I fell in love with them all over again. I cried my eyes out when Eve (view spoiler) and absolutely adored seeing Roarke deal with the s ...more

Well - I am still totally in love with this series, although I have to admit - the crime in this one was just okay for me. What really had me riveted and emotional in this book was what was happening behind the scenes with that bitch Bowers and her obsession with Eve. The repercussions of what she did and how they affected Eve on a personal and professional level had me in tears.

*sighs* Roarke is the best husband in the whole wide world.

In a quick nut shell. Eve is called to the scene of a home
