This was somewhere between "OK" and "I like it!" It is a prequel to a book that I REALLY liked, though, so it gets some extra points there as it gives me a bit of back story on the characters in Sugar Rush (The Ophelia Dawson Chronicles).
The thing is... I don't really feel that the back story was NECESSARY for me to like the already likable characters. Nor was it really needed for me to understand their motivations. Plus, it leaves a bunch of questions unanswered, like "WHAT IS UP WITH THE BIRDS...more

In my opinion this is more of the first book to the series – but then again this is just a short preview of Ophelia’s life before the main event in Sugar Rush – I liked reading Sugar Rush first because it left me guessing.
After reading Crushed Sugar – a LOT of the things that happened in Sugar Rush seems like it was right there in front of me the whole time – For Example , In Sugar Rush She talked to Adrian about the Barn Owl she saw at the restaurant , than seeing a strange boy walking out of...more

Crushed Sugar is a prequel to Sugar Rush. I can't wait to read Sugar Rush. This novella was good insight to all the characters, and what the storyline will be about. I so want to read Sugar Rush now. The wicked storyline in this prequel pulled me right in, and I have to know how all this with Ophelia, Adrian, Tristan, and Martin turns out.
Ophelia's has three guys that came into her life to stir things up. Martin has been in her life since childhood. He’s the hot, gorgeous jock that all the girl...more

Crushed Sugar is a short novella and a prequel to the first book in the Ophelia Dawson Chronicles series by Kimber An. It works well as an introduction to the characters and has made me curious about the next story (a full length novel called Sugar Rush). We meet Ophelia and her twin sister Bianca, considering they are identical twins they are about as different as you can get. Ophelia is a bit of a loner, she is also geek who is often called on by her crush Martin to fix his gadgets. She doesn'...more
Ophelia and her twin sister, Bianca, live in Togo, Alaska, a little town that has suffered from the loss of tourism. All Ophelia wants is to graduate high school and to get out of town. But it would be nice if her crush Martin Brynner would look at her like she was his girlfriend instead of friend that is a girl that can fix all of his broken gadgets.
She is starting her junior year when a couple strange things happen. Martin has turned eighteen and seems to be in love with Ophelia even though he...more

After getting the Ophelia Dawson Chronicles for review I decided to start with the novella because it’s a prequel to Sugar Rush the first book in the series. Now personally, I’d rather read the prequel before the actual book. I like to know the back story before and not the other way around but I can’t help think maybe I made the wrong choice with this.
Although I thought this novella was okay, I have to admit I didn’t really enjoy it and considering that it’s only 50 pages I wouldn’t have expect...more

This was the prequel for the story I will review a bit later. It is very short, but I am sad to say that I did not enjoy it. The story seemed to jump around and I just couldn't connect with Ophelia nor could I really get a handle on what was going on. However, I will say by the end of the prequel, I was curious about the main story and event that I was about to read. You do not have to read this one to get into the next book.

Ophelia is the geeky girl and less stylish than her twin sister Bianca. She may be pretty but has never been noticed by her biggest crush, Martin, the most popular boy in school. He wants her finally after years of not wanting her. Stranger still is the fact two other new boys show an interest in her. Ophelia feels overwhelmed and she's getting some crazy headaches more and more. On top of all this the boys are acting weird an...more

Kimber An never had enough books when she was a kid and the ones she had didn’t turn out the way she wanted. And so she started writing her own. She also loved babies a lot, but didn’t know how to talk to boys. Instead, she became a nanny and took care of other people’s babies. Finally, she moved to Alaska where she met a boy who understood getting whacked in the head with a wadded up piece of pap...more
