I loved this book about a romance between a 35-year-old recent divorcee college instructor (Olivia) and the part owner of a family brew pub (29 year-old Jamie) but don't have much time to review it. It was hot, funny, and fast paced. Yeah, it was hot.:) So, what to do? How about some pictures of lovable stud Jamie, who sometimes tends bar in a kilt?

Jamie, Jamie, Jamie. You are such a hot and studly flirt, bless your heart. And with those fine fine kilt on, you just are not for the faint heart.

I have to say, I enjoyed book #1 a bit more than this book. Not too much by comparison but still this one felt a bit lacking mostly in the humor part. I cannot recall any LOLOL moment at all in fact. The story which revolve around Jamie with his siblings and Olivia with her ex-husband was very engaging and intriguing but I need the extra wittiness for...more

Oh, I really enjoyed this one! Jamie and Olivia were a cute, fun, sexy, and perfectly complimentary ‘opposites attract’ couple with flammable chemistry that made for some seriously steamy bedroom (and hot tub) scenes. Yowza!

…his green eyes twinkled. God, could he just do that on demand? What a terrible and deadly skill.
The first word that came to mind when finishing this book was emotional – I was really not expecting it, especially coming from crazy Tessa’s book, she had me rolling off the couch in fits of giggles. Jamie, I just wanted to give him a great big hug. Talk about a guy who’s carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, only no one really sees that. He’s t...more

Jamie Donovan, oh what can I say about him, except he was one deliciously sexy, tortured, misunderstood bad boy?
Jamie has always been the screw-up Donovan while Eric is the one who is staid and responsible, but Jamie is trying to change and grow up but his family especially Eric doesn't see that. We can see in Tessa's book, Jamie's growing anger and frustration. He himself feels unworthy and there is a distance between him and his family, he doesn't let them see the "other" part of him, the part...more

Highlights of the Good Times:
May:
– In book #1 Jamie is presented as a skirt chasing bartender, little more. I was delighted to meet the real Jamie Donovan – he was a sweetheart and I really liked him. I loved that Jamie had a very well thought out and solid plan to add food to the brewery. That he was smart about it, researched, and didn’t shy away from the help offered by a professional (Olivia) in getting a more formal proposal together to present.

My review was focused on Jamie and his love story with Olivia...but one thing I do need to comment on is the interplay with Eric. Eric did seem so different in his anthology story (The Guy Next Door). In the past two books we have met the 'real' Eric or the 'type' Eric that he feels he need to play. The role of parent and enforcer seemed to grow old in this book and I really wanted Eric to just snap. I cannot wait for him to get it on...and may...more

Thank god it's over. I can't believe how long it took me to read this. Like I said in one of my status updates - it was ridiculously easy to walk away from this novel. It was boring and the fact that I got Real Men Will as an advance copy from NetGalley and wanted to read the first two books in the series so I knew exactly what was going on is the only reason I continued to read this.

There aren't many things sexier than a hot young man, with blondish hair, a wicked grin, a sexy mouth, a beer at the ready.... and a kilt! Jamie Donovan is sex on a stick, or as I said before, sex on a kilt with construction boots. He is the bad boy, the black sheep of the family, the "irresponsible" Donovan brother, who works at the brewery as the bartender and public face of the brewery, flirts with anything female, and has a reputation for sleeping ar...more

I loved this series. The setup for Bad Boys finds Olivia, a recently divorced college instructor, joining a book club, partly to meet new people. The group she joins meets monthly at the Donovan Brothers Brewery, but they don't go to discuss books--they go to ogle kilt-wearing Jamie Donovan. Even Olivia succumbs to Jamie's sex appeal.

I actually enjoyed Bad Boys Do more than the first book in this series, Good Girls Don't. Although Tessa is more relatable to me personally, there the vulnerability that Jamie has just draws you in and keeps you invested. He's the guy that everybody thinks is carefree and fun with no responsibilities in the world, but he's much more than that. Reading his struggle of coming to terms with his own guilt over past mistakes and trying to find his footing in the brewery along with confronting his old...more

3.5 Stars Another Hot, fun, sexy read.
This is the story of twenty nine year old Jamie Donovan who's not only gorgeous but oozes charisma and sex appeal. I can easily see why he is such a favorite of all the women, especially when he works the bar wearing his kilt. But beneath all this charm I found a tortured man who is riddled with guilt.

4.5 stars. I haven't reviewed Good Girls Don't because I couldn't put my finger on why I liked it as much as I did, but I think I have it figured out now. It's the Donovan family. Yes, I'm a bit of a sucker for family dynamics. I love how each of the Donovan siblings has a distinct personality and each has their place in the family. Eric is the controlling, responsible older brother, Jamie is the screw-up, and Tessa is the peace-maker. In Good Girls Don't, Tessa forced her brothers to let her sl...more
I haven't liked ALL of Ms. Dahl's books, but this one was a winner for me. This was book 2 in the Donovan Brothers Brewery series about brother Jamie. He is known as a bad boy and a ladies man/flirt and always has a smile on his face. But on the inside, he is suffering with a lot of guilt and low self-worth. He puts on a front and acts the bad boy when in reality he wants to be more but doesn't think he deserves it. In comes Olivia. A thirty-something divorcee who was accused by her ex of being...more

I feel bad that this is the first book I read of this series! I got an e-copy of the book from NetGalley, but I'm glad I did! I'm defiantly going to be ordering the first one next week, and the 3rd one comes out in less than a week! YEAH!
I was happy that I started with Jamie's story though! Because I am IN LOVE with this boy! ok so he's 29 years old, but he is an Awesome Flirt!

This second book in the Donovan Brewery series by Victoria Dahl made me laugh and cry, and I just loved it. Jamie, the middle brother of the Donovan siblings, comes across as fun and charming but is perceived to be a f*#@ up by his older brother in particular. But of course there is more depth to this character than just being the adorable bar keep in a kilt. And when he meets Olivia, a recently divorced woman with some regrets about trade-offs she's made in her life, there are sparks and they s...more
This is book 2 in the Donovan Brothers Brewery. Unlike a sci-fi novel, this book is not simply filler between books one and three.
Jamie Donovan is the middle child in the family. Before him is older brother Eric, whom he fights with regularly. I originally started off listening to "Good Girls Don't", Tessa's story and could not get into it. I decided to move on to Jamie's story because it had more appeal to me. I'm glad I did because it inspired me to go back to listen "Good Girls Don't". Jamie is a very sympathetic lovable character and Olivia was the same. They both wore their hearts on their sleeves and just needed for someone to see them for who they truly were and not how they allowed themselves to be defined.

Jamie Donovan loves his family and the family Brewing Company that came down to he and his siblings with the tragic death of their parents 14 years ago. His bad boy, screw up image has cost him the respect of his big brother, but now it might just cost him his future and not just in business.

This is my favorite book of this trilogy; the other two were good reads, but this one really resonated for me. I have to say up front that some of that is personal -- Olivia really struck a nerve for me. She's a divorced academic, in an adjunct teaching position where she's underpaid and at the bottom of the college pecking order. Why? Because she was married to a full-time professor in the department, and she got rather stuck in a rut there playing second fiddle to him and his career. So yeah,...more
I love Ms. Dahl's contemporary romances but this series is not doing it for me like that last couple I read. I wish I could connect more to these characters. I liked the book, don't get me wrong but I am not head over heels in love with any of them.
I like the way the plot progresses and the book is not overly dramatic, it seems like the life of everyday people which makes the book wonderfully voyeuristic. Also on that note I didn't feel there was a basis for the connection that Jamie and Olivia...more
