This is a really sweet little book and tells the story of an evil scientist who uses the blood from an ancient horse that was found in a glacier to create a new breed of modern horse. Only, once the foal is born, he starts to grow at an amazing rate and there's a small nub of hair on his forehead that just keeps getting harder.

I really enjoyed returning to my childhood with this one and, although the 'science bad, nature good' message was a bit heavy-handed, I can see how it would be informativ

In 1987 Michael Carroll joined the Irish Science Fiction Association and was soon invited to become editor of their fiction magazine FTL. He has been a member of the executive committee of the Irish Writers' Union and spent two years as editor of their regular newsletter Final Draft.

He now writes full-time, having published a number of science fiction, fantasy and romance novels in Ireland, the UK
