5 stars, 4 stars and 2 stars for three stories.
This book contains reprints of three stories which were first published in the 1990s.
5 stars for WHITE OUT.
Loved it. Nice plot twists. Some suspense. Intriguing sex scenes. Hope runs a lake resort in Idaho. During a blizzard, a nearly frozen man knocks on her door and collapses. She drags him inside, removes his frozen clothes and gets inside a blanket with him to give him her body heat.

Before I begin...
When I picked up this book, from the library, I didn't bother reading the back because I really like Linda Howard's books, so I was kind of surprised to find out there were three books in one. I don't normally like short stories; I find there isn't enough character building or plot development. But anyways...

This is a book of three short stories by Howard.
Lake of Dreams was my favorite out of the three stories in this anthology. I'm usually not a big soul mate plot fan, but this time I didn't mind at all because of how well it was done. The suspense Howard managed to build up in about 100 pages was absolutely fantastic. It had me switching my opinions of Thea's "dream man" and biting my nails every time she let him within 5 feet of her.

For an anthology collection, these were surprisingly good. (I usually prefer full length novels.) I liked all three stories.
4 stars: Lake of Dreams
Highly original short story with a mix of suspense, romance, paranormal and horror. Kept me on the edge of my seat!
3.5 stars: Blue Moon
Short but sweet love story with an sexy small town sheriff and psychic heroine. This one ended a little abrubtly for me--would have liked for it to be longer. Good read.

This book is comprised of three short romances.
The 1st Lake od Dreams was about reincarnation, Love through the ages and about trusting in that love. It was a sweet yet sad story at the same time.
The 2nd Blue Moon was about a sheriff and a lonely woman who has special gifts. This story was also a sweet read.

This book comprised three short stories. I'm not that into short stories, otherwise I'd have rated it better.
The Lake
This one is about a woman who has been having dreams of her past lives. In every life, she loved the same man. She thinks she's going nuts and retreats to her family's lake house for a rest only to find that he's her neighbor.
Blue Moon
A sheriff in Alabama meets a woman who lives out in the woods whom everyone says is a witch.

If you love great romantic suspense novels, you'll enjoy this trio of short stories by Linda Howard. In Lake of Dreams, Thea Marlow dreams of making love to her dream lover. When she meets him in person, they realize they were meant to be through the hands of time, interpreting their dreams, when falling in love and fighting for what they want. In Blue Mondon, Sheriff Jackson Brody has been called to Deliliah Jones's home, and become under her spell. She's no witch, but she has healing powers an...more
Not one of her better reads, but still good. A selection of 3 stories, this compilation depicts her earlier writing style and demonstrates her ability to weave a good love story. All 3 stories develop quickly and are a fast read. If you enjoy Linda Howard's writing, this would be a good addition to your reading.
I enjoyed how each of these stories had a different setup, but all gave plausible reasons for the characters to fall head-over-heels in less than a week. Two of the stories have paranormal aspects (past lives, extrasensory abilities), and all were fun and sensual romances.

I really don't want to review this book. I didn't like it. And the only reason I give 2 stars is because... I feel 1 star is crass, and though I might not like the book...
anyways.
I didn't like it because I thought the 3 very short stories were... lacking. To say the least.

Lake of Dreams: I really enjoyed this one and would have loved for it to be a full sized novel. It was really interesting and I was sad it wasn't longer. It was definitely my favorite of the three.
Blue Moon: I didn't like this one too much. It didn't have much going for it, and I'm glad that it wasn't longer. There wasn't much substance at all and I didn't get a feel for the characters at all.

Three short stories. I liked 2 better than the lake one but I liked them all and they were short easy reads. Good bath tub reading. The one where they were snowed in was my favorite.
Wow! My first book by Linda Howard. I picked this with its three shorts to get a taste for the author. While some was far fetched, overall they were very good stories. She has now been added to my list of authors.
three short stories about strangers who fall in love. They were well written and the stories were good but im not a fan of a love story just for the sake of it. I didn't like the fact that within hours these people "loved" each other. Im a huge fan of character development and there was none.
Super thin stories that were mildly intriguing. Short, but not rich like a good short story should be. Just meh.
I was in a silly mood yesterday. I went to the library and picked up one Linda Howard, one Nora Roberts, and one Danielle Steele. I've never read anything from any of them, and I thought I should know what it's all about.
I got to about page 14 of this book before I almost threw it across the room. Besides the bad writing (no characterization, absolutely unevocative sexual prose, stupid pronouns, boring sentences), there were at least three unforgivable errors in the first chapte...more

So far - this is a silly book... Very harlquin romance short stories!!! But, I'll finish..
Well, I finished and it was 3 short stories.... There was one story that I would liked to have her write a true novel about... But - so far this Linda Howard wasn't my fave!

Grabbed this one off the library shelf and as I read it realized I had read it before.
White Out is one of my favorite short stories by Linda Howard
Linda Howard - [Strangers In The Night 01] - Lake Of Dreams
Three interesting short novels.
great audio book
this book was soooo good never got boring for me.
if you like books about romance and a fast pace romance at that this is a good one to read a very easy reader to. i just couldn't put it down and if you are that type of ereader you will like this one because it has 3 different stories in it and they are all only like 100 pages a piece so not hard to finish. i will read this one again

11/10- I decided to do a re-read after finishing some of LH's older books last month. I love how Howard can pack so much emotion into such a short story. Excellent collection. As I said before, Whiteout is my favorite of the 3, but the other two are just as well written.
2/09- I heart LH. This collection of shorts is wonderful, with Whiteout being my favorite.

Ya want paranormal, ya got paranormal. Lake of Dreams was GOOD. I firmly believe in past lives and LOD is based on this concept. The love story is intense but very concise. Blue Moon is just odd. It's a good story, weaker than LD and WO, but enjoyable. White Out is a lot like LOD minus the past lives. You have to believe in love (and lust) at first sight.
3 stories, low on story and high on sex. The little stories there were, were good, but not much to read but sex. I enjoy her books, the stories are good, but these are overpowered by the amount of sex. How many ways can you write sex? Lots of ways I guess.
N'en garde que peu de souvenirs... C'est pas très bon signe en général, mais je me rappelle quand même avoir passé un bon moment.
I would have given a higher score, except there was something missing for me.
