Well, this book is an example of how a talented author can take a good book and ruin it by a couple of bad plot twists and decisions. She wrote a beautiful, emotional and heartwarming story of two lonely people healing each other for the first half, and had to turn it into a wallbanger in the second part, by making the heroine take one wrong decision after the other.

Kate Slade is running away from her outlaw husband, but first she has a promise to keep to a dead man. To do so, she must

An exciting adventure into the Wild West with dangerous outlaws, sexy sheriffs, un-expected mail order brides, and steamy romance, The Outlaw Bride is one western that you won’t want to miss!

In The Outlaw Bride, both main characters sucked me in right away. Kate’s plight to escape her husband and fulfill her promise to a dead man. And then when sexy Sheriff Connor walked onto the scene, that was just the icing on the cake. You sympathize with both characters; Kate trying to keep her promise whil

Outlaw Bride is an impressive debut from an author who brings new life to the Western Historical Romance subgenre. Western Romance was my first love as a romance reader, and it remains a favorite of mine even as publishers and the market have followed other trends. For several years, it was almost impossible to find great new Western Romance authors. In recent years, offerings have improved somewhat, esp

Debut author Kelly Boyce has a treat for lovers of Western Romance!

I actually don't know where to start with this review. This story was fantastically crafted! Sympathetic, lovely characters, a plot that keeps you wondering how in heck it's going to play out, great dialogue, wonderful pace, and a homespun, cozy Western setting. Honest to God, I could see this story playing out in my head and hear the voices of the characters. I was drawn right into the world of Connor and Kate. Add in a traumati

An enjoyable love story. Connor and Kate are two very likeable characters that have great chemistry. He rescues her, she is his salvation. The sexual tension between the two of them is strung as tight as a bow string. When they FINALLY act on their feelings, we get a very well written, emotional 'love scene'. Good dialogue, strong heartwarming story line, with at little twist at the end. Great debut book from Kelly Boyce and I look forward to reading her books in the future.

If you are looking for a wonderful and charming love story with warmth, humour, and some of the best kissing scenes around, I recommend The Outlaw Bride, historical romance author Kelly Boyce's debut novel. I'll be honest - the Western genre isn't something I'm usually drawn to, but Boyce does such a great job with the setting and the characters, that I'm now a convert -- and am hoping she'll write a sequel.

This is the perfect book to relax into on a weekend. Just don't expect to get much done -

I just love a good western romance! This one had it all. A strong feisty heroine with a heart of gold. The courageous good guy who has strong morals and sense of family. The BAD guys, and all those secrets. Thrown in lots of sexual tension and an adorable child and I am hooked! This story was a nice smooth read that I was unable to put down until the end.
Kate and Conner’s story was just the perfect rainy day, curl up on the sofa read. I am looking forward to reading more from this author!

I bought this book based on reading the sample, and I couldn't wait to dig in. Boyce writes well, and the story had enough twists and turns to keep me "flipping" pages on my Kindle. The story never dragged, and it wasn't long before I was rooting for Kate and Connor. I cringed every time something seemed to stand in their way, and sighed when they finally got their HEA. It's a beautiful love story I'd definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys old-Western romances!

I'll definitely be checking out

Hard to believe that Outlaw Bride is written by a debut author! This might be Kelly Boyce’s first published book but she writes with the confidence and ease of a seasoned pro!

Kate is a determined woman with a heartbreaking secret that keeps her from living the life she deserves and loving the man that desperately needs, but for his own self perseverance, resists her. Kate’s goals and dreams echo a time when life was simpler and success was weighed by a completely different scale than that of to

I was expecting a Regency romance when I requested this book for review from Netgalley, but I was pleasantly surprised that this is no Regency romance book, but a Western romance book. I enjoyed the plot and the subplot of this book, and while the story starts did not catch my attention in the beginning, I began to grow to like it as I slip the pages.

Not a bad book to read on a lazy Sunday. Highly

Outlaw Bride by Kelly Boyce is a satisfying historical romance set in the American west. The eBook is due to be release on April 18 2011. It offers romance readers everything they might want; reluctant love, outlaws, interfering townspeople, secrets and a steamy scene or two. Katherine Slade is desperate. She is on the run from her brutal husband, who just happens to be a wanted man. She has been on the run for a while, and in her efforts to escape, innocent people have been killed. This is a fiery wild west romance romp! I love the characters' names - all strong and firm, as are the characters themselves. Kate Slade is a redhead on the run from her evil husband Rogan, who finds love under a psuedonym with the charming sheriff, Connor Langston. There are myriad complications, including eight-year-old mute Jenny, Mr. and Mrs. Hewitt, a message from Connor's dead brother Grant, and of course a showdown with the outlaw Rogan. Thankfully, Kate, Connor, Jenny, and love all emerg ...more

I found The Outlaw Bride to be a very enjoyable western Romance. It was definitely a quick read with several intriguing plot elements that kept my attention: mail order bride mix-up, two people thrown together in an unusual set of circumstances, abusive outlaw husband, and a mute motherless child. What’s not to love with a story like that? I liked how the love developed between Connor and Kate. The relationship between Kate and the little girl was especially touching. The Outlaw Bride is an enjoyable western romance about a woman fleeing her outlaw husband and trying to find the family of the man who died saving her life. The dead man's family turns out to be a small-town sheriff and since she's assumed the identity of a mail-order bride, she's forced to continue her deception. However, everything comes to a head when her husband and his gang hit town.

This book is well written and heart-warming with extremely likable characters. i finished it in one sitting.

What a nice read - and I mean 'nice' as in comfy, settle-in-and-grab-a-cuppa-cause-you-don't-want-to-be-disturbed type 'nice'. Great characters, her dialogue is brilliant...reminded me of westerns my dad used to watch and made me nostalgic for them, which is something since I never thought I was. This book goes into my very tiny "keep to read again" pile. If she keeps this up, Kelly Boyce will go into my list of 'must buy authors' - which is very small list indeed. Awesome, comfy read.

I really enjoyed this western romance by debut author Kelly Boyce. Unlike the heroine's wild red locks, there was nothing out of place in this book. The plot was polished, the characters developed, the style and voice fit perfectly with the setting. Boyce's language is fitting of the western style, and the individual characters had personality and heart. I never saw the end coming. This book is clean and crisp, and I highly recommend it.

The Outlaw Bride by Kelly Boyce is a good twist on the time-honored mail-order bride theme. Conner is the kind of hero we want to find the love of his life, and Kate deserves to find a man worthy of her love. Throw in little Jennifer, and this story works its way deep into your heart. Well done!
Julia
A simple western romance with an a bit more spice than usual. Only the hero and heroine get any character development (the outlaw husband in particular is just a caricature), and the story itself wasn't enough to stand on it's own. A quick, enjoyable escape, but ultimately forgettable.

It's been a while since I've read a Western historical romance, and Kelly Boyce's The Outlaw Bride was a good choice to add some variety to my reading list.
