Wow! I won this fabulous book through the GoodReads First Reads program. I am so lucky to have won this particular book because I needed the reminders that Ken Parsell has wrote down so clearly. Many of the truths he put down on paper are the very same ones my parents told us growing up & I know them to be useful, I just have forgotten them in the daily struggle of living. Because not everything is brand new to me I feel more receptive to the advice that I know I need to follow. I feel very...more

This is a great short book! Filled with inspiring quotes to help you make your life better. I love the reflection questions at the end of each chapter. I believe that they will make great starters for my journal entries -- and with those reflections I should be able to make myself a better person. One thing that really hit me, is that at the present I have no real goals set for myself -- I will start with reflections on that and I believe that will be the perfect starting point in helping me to...more

I won this book through Good Reads.
It was very easy to read and follow. My son who is a senior was interested in it also, and read some. It supported alot of things we have always said and more.
I would call it more of a handbook because it really is something to keep handy and thumb through periodically. These are concepts that you have to practice and this book has great quotes to keep you thinking positively.

I received this book through Goodreads First Reads.
It provided simple and practical tools, as advertised, to increase your confidence. They sound like they would work - my problem is that I can never remember to do them. For example, one technique is to repeat positive things to yourself several times a day. I just can't remember to do that.
I've never been able to finish self-help books, and this was a slow read for me. I kept getting distracted by novels, but after several months I've finally...more

Loved this book! Very simple to understand, yet very powerful and moving! The quotes at the end of each chapter were very enlightening and I enjoyed this quick read very much. I have shared a few of the quotes with my family and we have a few posted near the kitchen table to help inspire us and to help us achieve our goals and to believe in ourselves. I bought a copy on Amazon and gave it to my mom for Christmas.
