1105 Yakima Street
Cedar Cove, Washington

Dear Reader,

You’ve probably heard that my wife has left me. Rachel’s pregnant, and she says that she can’t handle the stress in our household anymore. My thirteen-year-old daughter, Jolene, is jealous of her. Maybe it’s my fault. As a widower I spoiled her – Jolene was reading over my shoulder just now and says that’s not true. She c...more

This is my first review of this series though I have read the whole series up to this latest book. I consider this series a guilty pleasure, it is a light fun read. The series is a soap opera is book form highlighting many of the residents of Ceder Cove (ranging from the elderly to the children). The focus of this series were the residents of 1105 Yakima Street Rachel, Bruce, and Jolene. Jolene is still struggling with the marriage of her father to Rachel. Her acting out is out of control and Ra...more

1105 Yakima Street is the 11th novel in the popular Cedar Cove series by Debbie Macomber. 1105 Yakima Street is the address of Bruce, Rachel and Jolene Peyton, but after months of enduring nastiness from her jealous 13-year-old stepdaughter, Rachel finally walks out on Bruce and Jolene for the good of her own health and that of her baby. A friend from Rachel’s past comes to the rescue with accommodation and support. Rachel’s stance finally goads a reticent Bruce into finally acting to bring his...more

OK. We have a pregnant, newly wed, apparently really sweet woman, Rachel, with a spiteful, vicious, spoiled-rotten monster of a stepdaughter, and a spineless, whining, stalking, bullying husband. The husband wrings his hands because his wife walks away after having enough of being tormented by the stepdaughter until she is stressed out, sick, and close to losing her baby from dealing with the monster stepdaughter and the useless, self centered whiny excuse for a man she is married to who won't s...more

It is my understanding this is the last book in the "Blossom Street" series. We now have closure about the lives of Oliva Lockhart Griffin, her mother, Charlotte, Will Jefferson, Rachel Peyton and the rest of the gang. As we wondered if Rachel would get back with her husband and if her step-daughter Jolene would accept her and their soon to arrive child, we find out! Since this book is about everyday life in the lives of many people, there are happy endings, and in some situations a bit sad. Thi...more

For the past eleven years, September has brought to mind kids going back to school, leaves changing colors, the promise of cooler weather...and a new Cedar Cove novel by Debbie Macomber. The newest book is "1105 Yakima Street", which refers to the address of Rachel and Bruce Peyton, the main focus of the book.

Rachel and Bruce are expecting their first child together, but their marriage is having major difficulties because of the way Rachel's 13-year-old step-daughter, Jolene, is behaving. Altho...more

Bruce and his daughter Jolene live on Yakima Street and they are having a huge problem. Rachel, Bruce’s pregnant wife, has decided to move out. She worries about her health and the baby and decides the hostility she is receiving from her step-daughter isn’t worth the risk. Bruce does everything he can to convince her to come back, except address the problem of Jolene. She is adamant that they do not need Rachel, and tries to prove it multiple times. Whenever Bruce decides to try to see Rachel, s...more

Are you a fan of Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove books ? I personally have only read a handful of her books and this was the first in the Cedar Cove Series. My personal favourite series of her's has been The Blossom Street Series. My mum and best friend Deb are big Debbie Macomber fans and have read and devoured her books. They tend to rave on about them, so I thought when 1105 Yakima Street came up for review on Netgalley, I'd give it a go .
As I gathered from reading 1105 Yakima Street, the Cedar...more

After I finished this book, I had planned to rate it a three with the caveat about the Bruce Rachel storyline. But in reality, I can't rate any book that has such an awful hero at the heart of the story. He was whiney, selfish and totally wimpy. His daughter is ruining his life and drove off his wife and all he does is whine, stalk the ex and then get mad at the ex when she won't do what he wants.

It disturbs me that Macomber thinks calling every hair salon in town to find his ex that blocked his...more

Bruce and Rachel Peyton still love each other, but she has left him because of issues with his daughter Jolene that he has ignored. Bruce is ready to deal with those issues but is it too late? Other residents of Cedar Cove have their own issues. Charlotte Rhodes is becoming forgetful and her children Olivia and Will are worried about her. In the meantime, Will is trying to figure out why he continues to clash with Miranda Sullivan. Linc Wyse is struggling to make his car repair service succeed,...more

Another good book by Debbie Macomber. I do look forward to reading her stories. My only complaint about this book (and the last few in the series) is that there are too many characters whose stories are being developed at one time. By the time I finish the book (and have to wait for the next one) I know a little about a few people, new people introduced and then its over. I know when you do a series, you want to keep people reading, but it would be nice if she covered the stories of only 2 or 3...more

Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove series is one of my all-time favorites. I enjoy going back to visit all those beloved citizens each year as a new book is released. And I was saddened to hear that the series is ending come this October when 1225 Christmas Tree Lane is released.

When I picked up this book, I was excited that Rachel and Bruce's story was going to be told. They've been secondary characters for years and we've watched their relationship unfold. An...more

I read the first six books and than I forgot about them. I still enjoy the characters and am sorry I missed a few in between. So next I will read the last book in the series.
Rachel has left her husband of less than a year of marriage. She is pregnant and the fighting of her step daughter and her husband not wanting to jump in just wanted peace. Rachel had to leave for her health and the babys. She keeps loosing weight instead of gaining weight. Her blood pressure is way high.
Rachel had a good re...more

I have always loved Debbie Macomber. She has the ability to create heart warming and fun novels. One of my favorite books is 16 Lighthouse Road, book 1 in the Cedar Cove series.I will be honest and say that I haven't read all 11 books in this series, but the ones that I have read.....WOW! I always feel at home.

With 1105 Yakima Street, we are taken back into the lives of Rachel and Bruce and Jolene, who are introduced in previous Cedar Cove novels. While this one focuses on Rachel, Bruce and Jol...more

At the risk of upsetting die-hard Debbie Macomber fans, this was the least favorite of her books that I've read. I found myself rolling my eyes most of the time. Why do these characters play such games? Grace, refusing to fall in-love with a puppy. I can't even remember the characters names anymore, and I just finished the book-- the whiny pregnant girl who ditched the hunky doctor (in the last book). Will and Miranda... good Lord, that was a boring and predictable thing waiting to happen. Worst...more

I have truly enjoyed the Cedar Cove Series as a fun, light-hearted get-away-from-it-all read. I have my favorite characters and I enjoy getting updates on what's happening with different things around town. From a writer perspective, I do not know how DM keeps up with all those characters. It is quite the cast now. It is truly amazing series she has created! I gave this particular book 4/5. I had a few character issues. I also thought one character had a breakthrough on the positive spectrum. He...more

I have enjoyed each visit to Cedar Cove and will be very sad when these excursions end.

What Debbie does so well is that while she features a different address/family in each story she realizes that the entire community of Cedar Cove is connected to each other through family and friendships. In each edition we get a peek at most of the characters so we always stay connected with our favorites. She puts us right there in Cedar Cove, whether we are sitting in the library, visiting the art gallery,...more

This 11th installment in the fictional town of Cedar Cove WA. revolves around Rachel, the hairdresser, her pregnancy and estrangement from her husband and step-daughter. Another pregnant character, Gloria (a police officer) settles her relationship w/the baby's father. The seniors, Charlotte & Ben are getting forgetful in their old age, and Olivia (the judge) and her brother Will (who runs the gallery in town) face the fact that they need "assisted living." But will their parents agree? How...more

I first saw this book on the B&N new release page back over the summer…or was it back last Christmas? I’ve never read a book by this author before but the excerpt and summary provided on the B&N website made the book seem like it would be a nice, light read, just the thing I could spend a rainy weekend on. Naturally, I never wrote the title or author down and it wasn’t until I was in a Hastings last week when I just so happen to quite literally stumble upon the book while browsing. And o...more

Bruce Peyton lives at 1105 Yakima Street with his daughter Jolene. Bruce and his wife, Rachel, are separated at the present time. It seems Bruce's daughter dislikes Rachel, especially now that she is pregnant. Rachel has moved in with a friend and changed jobs due to the fact that Bruce kept showing up at her last place of employment causing disruptions that Rachel's boss did not want to put up with. Rachel has wanted Bruce, Jolene and herself to go into counseling. Much to her dismay, Jolene wa...more

It was great going back to Cedar Cove once again. I guess these stories have spanned the last 10 years and I have come to love the folks that live there. It is a lovely town overlooking the water with great restaurants, shops, a tea room, a library etc. In this story we concentrate at what is happening with Rachel, who is newly married and expecting her first baby. Her stepdaughter, Justine, who used to love being with her is now vying for her father's attention and defies Rachel at every turn....more

Notes: I read the ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of this book.

Bruce and Rachel Peyton are facing the marital problems that come from having a child by a previous marriage. Rachel is pregnant and the stress is starting to have an effect on her unborn child. When pleas to her husband that they attend counseling as a family failed, she left Bruce. Jolene (Bruce's daughter and Rachel' stepdaughter), it seems, has turned into a wicked stepdaughter. What happened?

Linc Wyse’s business is starting to fail....more

This was the first "real" Macomber I've read. A little hard in the beginning, to sort out who all the people were, but the love stories were believable, the characters and their problems were realistic. (Except for the one, Leonard, who's never admitted he was wrong in 30 years of marriage, one family intervention and he's ready to be more open? Not gonna happen - or if it does magically happen, not gonna last. Macomber needs to do her research on OCPD and find out what true misery it causes tho...more

This is the second book that i read under the same series by the same author. Unlike the earlier book which is the last book from the same series, this is the second last book and tell the story of Rachel who left her husband after the standoff between her and her stepdaughter as well as trying to avoid the tension situation from affecting her baby that she is carrying. In meantime, Olivia, the Judge, is also having problems in relocating her parent to a care home when her mother beginning to fo...more

It’s getting close to Christmas, and some of the people in Cedar Cove are on the verge of making some life-changing decisions. After much soul searching, will they set their feet on a new path or will they be content to let their lives just drift along? If you know anything about master story-teller and author Debbie Macomber, you know she has her own ideas about what her characters should do! Life may not always run smoothly in Cedar Cove, but it is always entertaining for readers of this serie...more

This is #11 in the Cedar Grove series. Many of the previous characters make appearances. Rachel is pregnant and has left Bruce because of the acting out of his 13 year old jealous daughter, Jolene. Gloria is pregnant and hiding it from the father, Dr. Chad. Linc and Lori Wyze are having problems with her dad ruining her husband's business. Charlene and Ben have a fire at their home and worry their children over problems of possible Alzheimers and need to move to assisted living. Grace and Cliff...more

At 1105 Yakima Street Bruce is left alone again with his daughter, Jolene. Where is Rachel, his wife? Why did she leave? Jolene, a 13-year-old brat, is running the show.
This is another nice visit to Cedar Cove, the only part of the story line is the above subject, which drives me personally nuts when kids run their parents' lives. Anyway back to the story: Ben and Charlotte have a fire and some tough decisions to make; Will is attracted to Miranda but she is so not his type; Olivia and Jack are...more

I am so sad that this series is almost over. I've enjoyed each visit into the lives of Cedar Cove's residents.

I have to say that I wanted to choke Bruce and Joline more than a time or two over the past couple of books. There's something about age 13 that seems to drastically change a kid's personality . . . having gone through the same type of personality change myself. It's the only reason Joline's attitude rang true for me.

Grace's attitude towards Bo was a little grating too.

I love the relati...more

I've read all of the books in this series and the characters seem like old friends. Macomber creates wonderful characters that you care about, in this series and in all her books. I'll miss the folks of Cedar Cove. The format was interesting, a different address and family featured in each book. Catching up with the characters is fun, but you have to keep your wits about you as there are many many families featured and it can be hard to keep track of them. Macomber weaves a great story but tying...more

Debbie Macomber doesn't disappoint with book #11 in the Cedar Cove series. It's the next to the last book and she begins to tie up a lot of the loose ends to help give her fans closure. This book brings back most of our old favorites plus they are not just background stories. I definitely cried at the ending. I look forward to reading the last book in the series which I will be starting shortly - 1225 Christmas Tree Lane - but not looking forward to saying goodbye to characters that we've grown...more
