When I first read the blurb for this book, I thought

HAWT! another spicy sports romance! Loves me some of that!

I started to read it, and got pretty into the story. I enjoyed Jason and Remi's characters...and the 2 of them together

and then...well...

Everything is going smooth. There are some conflicts thrown in between Remi and Jason and her not being able to deal with his fame at first. There is also some added drama of Remi dealing with her two siblings.

But then then I got to the 75% mark of thi

4.5 stars.

I go through stages of looking all bereft at my TBR and my beloved Brock because I have books sitting there to read but have lost interest in them. It's usually in those hours of need that I indulge in sports romance; it seems to embrace me and get me back to a happy place. I'm glad I went with my gut and bought this on a whim last night.

Breakaway was neat and tidy. The H/h met, became attracted, acted on that attraction in a way that was supposed to be casual but actually resulted in

Would go up to 3.5 but cannot reach 4 stars.
I liked this rather short story, which could have reached 4 stars, had it been slightly more developed. The storyline was adequate, despite one small slip-up regarding the timeline (Jason supposedly had to leave for a one-nighter in Boston the coming week-end, except the following day, his plans included a 5-night tour this week-end and the one-nighter in Boston the following one - not too bad but it could be easily corrected). I really liked the 2 mai

This could've been such a good read (this author writes great sex), but the heroine was such a bore that she ruined it for me. I just wanted to shake her and tell her to stop being such a sap!!!

Hockey and steamy sex in one book?!? Oh yeah! I am all about that. Kelly Jamieson does not disappoint in Breakaway. Breakaway is the story of Remi, a middle school teacher, and Jason, a professional hockey player. Remi has been raising her younger sister and brother since her parents died. She has sacrificed her personal life in order to provide for her family. Now her siblings have grown and moved out, Remi is convinced by her best friend, Delise, that it is her time to have fun. In comes Jason ...more

This was a new to me author. I liked the characters. I liked the writing. I felt the book just ended though. I wanted to see more of the conflict resolved. I know there are other books to come so maybe we will continue to see this couple again. Overall an ok read. I will be reading the next book for sure.

Loved this

Loved the characters, storyline, and hockey. This was a really good read that kept me until one in the morning with a really busy day ahead. Now I'm ready to read more of the Heller brothers.

Ok read nothing great though. The story was just ok no depth to the story or characters. No connection or pull to go to the next book.

Just okay for me. I felt that the ending was forced. But overall a nice, sweet story. I did enjoy the characters.

I didn't love this book. I thought it had its moments, but the reasons Remi kept distancing herself from Jase bothered me. As a teacher, you'd think she'd sit down and have a rational discussion when things went bad instead of running off without a word. But no. A few camera flashes from the paparazzi and she's running for the hills. I do think Jase brushed off her concerns a little too cavalierly initially, but she didn't try very hard to make him understand. I also didn't love Jase's knee-jerk ...more

I was new to this author, but I was very much pleased in starting off with this book. While some of the reviews stated that the book ends quickly and needed and epi, well finish the series and you get that. The way the author starts each brother's romance and then intertwines them was good for me. It kept me reading all the books in the series and felt that while they are stand alones, they also built on the past books you read and had a good feel for the main characters when you read 'their' st ...more

This is the first book I have read by Kelly Jamieson and I loved it! Hockey and Romance!!

This is the story of Remi a school teacher who is also feeling a little lost because she has raised her sister and brother, and now they have both moved out and Jase Heller an NHL player who recently broke up with his girlfriend of 2 years because she wanted more and he didn't

Remis friends want to take her out for the night to celebrate her freedom, Delise wants her to have some adult fun, but the guys that

Look, the actual storyline wasn't too bad, but it just wasn't a cohesive book.
For me, third person did not work. At all. After reading awesome duel POV hockey books from Sawyer Bennett and Catherine Gayle, the somewhat unreliable third person narrator irritated me to no end.
Also, at times I felt like the author had swallowed a thesaurus. She used words inappropriately, whether it be by context or definition, making some sentences come across very clumsily to the reader. Her spelling and punctu

I hadn't actually intended this book to be a part of my 2016 reading challenge. I found the set on sale in the Kindle store and decided it sounded good. I like simple hockey romances so I just picked it up for fun. I needed to relax the other night so I thought I'd read one of the books in the series. It was only after I started reading I realized the main female character was a teacher. It just kind of worked out and now I'm one more down on my reading challenge.

The story follows Remi, a sixth

Fun, fast and sexy book with hot athletes!! Jason Heller is one of four Heller brothers who come from a hockey family. He's big, he's sexy and he's hot! While at a nightclub he's approached by a tiny girl who asks him to pretend to talk to her so her friend thinks she's flirting. She's not his type, but he's intrigued. Remi is a 6th grade teacher who has spent most of her youth raising her brother and sister after their parents died. Now that they have moved out, her friends are making her get o ...more

H and h meet in a bar and have sex right away. h is teacher in school and H shows up a week later to help with reading program. H pursues h. h keeps pushing him away b/c of his fame and paparazzi, etc. H keeps pursuing. Stopped reading b/c I got sick of h. Just didn't get any chemistry b/c the couple and got bored.

I'd give it 3.5 stars.

I got tired of Remi's issues and hated how she let her younger sibs pushed her around, only for Remi to come out looking like she was to blame for the disgustingly inconsiderate, self-absorbed way they treated her. There was certainly nothing wrong with Jase, though ;-)

What a great book! Things I loved: hockey player (there's just something about those hot athletes), hot romance (especially with those hot athletes), and the perfect blend of drama and chemistry (all involving said hot athlete). A quick, fun, steamy book!

Did not finish. I liked the characters as they were described and the idea of the plot. The initial conversations seemed unreal and not properly developed. In one of the early scenes in the book which took place in a club, waitresses were described as gorgeous and sexy... I think that description was used every couple of sentences in as many pages. A sexy gorgeous waitress served them their drinks. A gorgeous sexy girl was dancing on the table. It almost seemed like it would take too much effort ...more

The book was okay at first, but I noticed that the heroine is very insecure and kind of irritating. I tried to ignore that fact and continued to read hoping for any redeeming quality but all I can think about the whole time is "what the fuck does he see in her?!".

Their love story is nothing special and kind of predictable. Even the sex is mediocre. The heroine's sister is also stupid and pissed the hell out of me. I guess it runs in the family.

Anyway, I won't rate this book since I didn't finis

Jason & Remi's story. Jason is a NHL hockey player with 3 other brothers (all hockey players). Remi is a 6th grade teacher that meets Jason out at a club. Remi has always been the responsible one, taking care of her siblings after her parents death. Jason is fresh out of a relationship. This was just supposed to be fun. But their fun turns into the spark of finding "the one". They fall in love and all is going well till Jason's ex shows up shocking him with news.

I have to say, I was disappointed with this book.

I love a good romance story, but there's a fine line between making it great, and cringe-worthy. That's what happened to me with this book. Overtime the characters said "I love you" it sounded cheesy, over the top, unnecessary.

And in both their cases, they didn't really appreciate each other for who they were, to the extreme that Remi acted as if she was inferior to everything in Jason's life, yet she felt the audacity to judge him for his accom

It was enjoyable but fairly average

I liked remi and Jason. Her siblings were idiots tho and kind of ruined it a bit, made her look silly.

I found his motivations hard to understand. He broke up with someone he loved because he didn't want a relationship. Days later he's begging Remi for one. Bit odd and hard to know how he got there

I didn't find the ex in anyway dislikable. It was hard to know why he dumped her.
As for the plot twister it was ok won't be everyone's cup of tea. Nor would all the

I liked the concept of this book however the writing seemed almost juvenile. Conversations were well written but forced and characters never really seemed to mature. I still have no idea if the antagonist is actually pregnant and what happens with the situation. I know that this is a series and haven't continued on yet but I feel like the main characters problems should be solved before this book ends, not just saying we will work it out. Wait what? Will continue with stories but only because I ...more

Kelly Jamieson writes romances with heat that's sweet. Her writing has been described as “emotionally complex”, “sweet and satisfying” and “blisteringly sexy”. If she can stop herself from reading or writing, she loves to cook. She has shelves of cookbooks that she reads at length. She also enjoys gardening in the summer, and in the winter she likes to read gardening magazines and seed catalogues ...more
