2013!? Seriously Melissa de la Cruz, 2013!?
You clearly want to kill me.
I physically need more Mimi and Kingsley, and I have to know what happens with Jack and Schuyler now!
I can't believe the turn this series took. At the end of the first book, I wasn't even sure I'd read the second one, and now here I am, after six books, literally freaking out because the last out comes out in one effing year. D:

BEST.SERIES.EVER. I'm dying
2013?!?! Why is this more than a year away are they crazy?! This needs to be released next year at the most. Horrible marketing, I shall complain... How can book 5, 5.5, and 6 all be released in the same year but the last book will be out in 2 years...???
Edit: Yay we have a cover! Buuut i have to say I'm so-do about it. And what's up with her hair??

Final Post - *CONTAINS SPOILERS*
I just want to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed the Blue Bloods series. Lost in Time's ending had left me avid & desperate for more, more of everyone (especially more Abaddon & more Araquiel). The SIXTEEN month wait for the final book's release had me anticipating an amazing string of events leading up to the final battle and all loose ends tied. I CAN say this book managed to tie everything together perfectly into a neat little bow. Unfortunately, howev More...

EDIT: Spoilers ahoy!
I actually enjoyed this now that i think about it. I was leery about the whole battle, and even though I kind of knew how it was going to happen, Jack's death was a let down. He was being such an awful person before this, I wasn't that upset when it did happen; because we knew that Schuyler would do it to save the fallen. Now Oliver and Finn, Don't even get me started. I hated and am so confused by Oliver's decision at the end. Like what the hell? He wanted to become a vampi More...

4.5/5 Stars
The synopsis said Gates of Paradise, the final book in the Blue Bloods series, would be "heartbreaking" and have "unbearable sacrifice." That was not a lie. While the end was still rushed, as so many series finales seem to be, it still cleaned up pretty nicely, leaving someone who started the series years ago--someone like me--feeling like they'd lost a huge part of their life.

I didn't want this series to end! I wanted but not wanted! UGH! Its like reading "Last Sacrifice" by Richelle Mead. Its like reading Mockingjay. Its like reading a last book in a series you simply don't want to end.

Have you ever felt sad when you finish a series as you know that you will no longer be able to read about the characters unless of course , the author does a spin-off series which in this case she does with the character Bliss in Wolf Pact. However, it is goodbye to all our favourite Blue Bloods in Gates of Paradise from Mimi and Jack Force, Schulyer Van Alen and Oliver Hazard-Perry to Kingsley Martin. In Gates of Paradise, we discover that Mimi and Jack Force have returned home to Hell and are More...

Article first published as Book Review: Gates of Paradise: A Blue Bloods Novel by Melissa De La Cruz on Blogcritics.
With the explosion of books and stories about the eternal struggle each view is like another layer added to what many believe in. The subject makes for good reading and adventurous treks through the depths of hell and back, often followed by unimaginable horror. So how does one make a mark and find a way to stand out from the rest in the tale of the epic struggle.

So if you've been following my reviews, you'll know that I read the first seven books of the Blue Bloods series in a row so you can imagine my disappointment when I reached the end of book six and realised that I hadn't thought about getting a copy of book seven.
At the end of Misguided Angel, Jack and Mimi Force bargained their souls with the Dark Prince, Lucifer, to have their bond severed so that they could be with the people they truly loved. Both Jack and Mimi are reformed Dark Angels but it More...

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been reading Melissa de la Cruz’s Blue Bloods series for seven years now. I feel as if I’ve been through so much with all of these characters and to see the series finally come to a close is extremely bittersweet. However, I would be lying if I said Gates of Paradise was my favorite Blue Bloods book. I had a few problems with some details, which unfortunately prevented me from enjoying book seven as much as I would have hoped. However, if you are a Blue Bloods fan, More...

Gates of Paradise kicks off where Lost In Time left off. Schuyler , Oliver and Kingsley are looking to find the final gate protecting the world from Lucifer's wrath, and Jack and Mimi are doing the only thing they can to break their bond-- get friendly with the devil himself.

I have to admit that I am not a faithful fan of this series. However I have read several of the books in this series. For this reason, I never felt a strong connection to the characters but I was still curious to see how this series would end. For me, I found Mimi, Kingsley, Bliss and Lawson’s stories the most intriguing. The rest of the characters were alright. Schuyler who I thought to be a main character was disappointing to me. She was uninteresting. She did not do much during most of the bo More...

The final book of Cruz's Blue Bloods series picks up a few months after Lost in Time left off. And while I'm sad that it's the last one, I couldn't help but devour the book in one sitting. Like all of her books, it's a very quick and easy read.
The book is divided into four different parts with each chapter rotating through Sky, Mimi, Bliss, and Allegra. Most of the book, the Allegra chapters are headed with the name Tomasia and tells us what really happened in Florence. Which I had figured out d More...

I can't deny it. I have followed the blue bloods to hell and back. I have read them through seven books and it feels quite sad knowing this will be goodbye.
When I got my hands on the book, I felt relief and happiness wash through me because here it is finally, within my grasp, after a long long wait. I'm not a very patient person so you can only imagine what I had to endure. Soon though, when I got the book, I felt anxiety too. Because suddenly, I'm scared to reach the last page.

The Blue Bloods series had a strong premise and a great beginning, but it foundered for awhile. The series always followed several narrators in each novel, but there were always some plotlines that didn't have the urgency or sizzle of the others. Even in GATES OF PARADISE, Schuyler Van Alen goes on a side adventure that involves hanging out at a college party. I mean, it's not like she should be worried about leading the charge against Lucifer and preventing him from invading Heaven or anything. More...

This is the last book in a series I thought would never end. I have a hard time letting go of any series even when they are rubbish, so now that this is over I feel like an ugly book shaped weight has been lifted of my delicate little shoulders.
Hmm… where to start with this no doubt long, ranty, bitchy review? Okay, well the Blue Bloods series is all about teenage vampires that were once angels who rebelled against god or something, anyway as 'punishment' they are reincarnated over and More...

Wow!!!! This was a good end to a good series. I liked how it ended but I still don't get the 'father' situation at the end of the book. I saw the build up of it from earlier chapters in the book but that's it. I would have preferred the question of her heritage brought up earlier than just in this book but I still like the book. I wanted Bliss, Schuyler and Mimi to have a happily ever after off course but Oliver's ending was a little unexpected as well as some others...I mean wow. Charles and Al More...

I think this is the final book and boy was it a *FANTASTIC* read!!! :-)
I really appreciate authors who wrap things up nice and neatly for me and yet still keep me on the edge of my seat through the entire book! This one was certainly a page turner! It was hard to put it down to care for the mundane aspects of life like work... showers... food! LOL! ;-)
This book is bitter sweet in so many ways. Not just because it wraps up part of a series... but because you feel the heartache of Schuyler and Jac More...

Final boo- FINALLY! I feel like 7 books was a couple books too many for this series.
The book was pretty well-paced but I wasn't sure about all the different character POVs. Yes, it keeps you reading but my mind got a little confused trying to follow everyone's storyline. I did not appreciate Jack's little "turn to the dark side" He has always been wishy-washy towards Schuyler and I didn't like it. Also felt like the wolves storyline was missing something....
I did love that Paradise was reopened More...

I am a huge sucker for this series. Huge. My best friend, in fact, has been subjected to so many of my endless descriptive recountings of the tale that I often feel as though she may whop me about the head. I don't care. I don't care that this is completely age inappropriate, as I am no longer sixteen, this is a really good series. It is my complete and end all if I had to pick on guilty pleasure. And this is the end. The last book. We say goodbye to Schuyler, and Oliver, and Jack, and Mimi, and More...

Overall, despite the ups and downs of the series and in this book (trust me there are a lot of complications for the characters in this one), GATES OF PARADISE was such an awesome book and one that was a very perfect and satisfying final installment of a YA series, so thank you very much to Melissa de la Cruz! I can't wait to read more books from you in the future!

We've called BB 'Gossip Girls with fangs,' because of the relationship drama, the stylish clothes and locales. But there's a real battle here--a battle of good versus evil...or the good and evil within the Fallen Angels battling within each character.
I like the multiple points of view, but the cliffhangers began doing dangerous things to my blood pressure near the end.
I will admit there are stretches of de la Cruz's narrative where I get lost...Gates, paths? Tunnels? I tried, but just couldn't k More...

I enjoyed the series and this book ended it nicely. All the threads were neatly tied off, the pieces of the puzzle came together, and the teenage vampires completed their journeys. I like De La Cruz's writing. It's mature in that the characters were dealing with problems I could understand and relate to, despite the fantasy genre and the fact that I haven't been a teenager in a long time. The characters evolved well and the plot, despite its twists and turns stayed on track. I haven't read the W More...

While I finished this book almost a week ago, I needed the week to process ALL the feelings...mostly just coming to terms that this whole series is over.
'Gates of Paradise' starts us right where 'Lost in Time' left off and in this story we, again, see multiple POV's, including that of Bliss. While I'm not a *huge* Bliss fan, her story was definitely needed within this novel and I was happy to see her there.
