I’m not sure what to think about this one. In the end, I had to view the story as an anti-Twilight or parody on vampires to get through. There were a lot of disturbing moments in this story. At some point I almost didn’t...more

Julieanne's book "In the Shadows" is the first book in the Shadow's trilogy, and what a way to start off a series. This book had me sucked in right from page one. I haven't read Urban Fantasy before and was glad I once again went out of my comfort zone again. I have been doing that a lot lately, and haven't been dissapointed yet. It's allowed me to read new Author's and fantastic books like this one.

Okay theres a lot going on and some of this stuff i will intentionally leave out Lynch did an amazing job with this book so i dont have to break it down that much.. got me..

Giselle Bergman is happy shes dating the "it" guy Marc.. Her best friend Alex is HANDSOME and wonderful.. Things change when someone leaves a dvd in Giselles locker.. The dvd contains video of Marc and Evie a girl Giselle greatly dislikes.. Things kinda go down hill from there for Giselle i mean the girl cant catch a break...more

What an interesting introduction to the series. Lynch did an amazing job of setting up all of the background elements, including the theological and supernatural aspects, which will carry her series forward. She does so while creating a very compelling and captivating story for her audiences.

All of the descriptions in this novel give it a dark overtone. It suits the storyline perfectly. The descriptions are also very clear and memorable. I appreciate the fact that the author stays true to herse...more

I missed reading a new YA vampire series, so I was thrilled when I got the chance to read In the Shadows! It was a good book, with an interesting and refreshing take on the vampire lore. Her vamps are dark, creepy, unpredictable, yet intriguing and they have a fascinating history. For that reason alone, this is a book not to be missed!

So "In the Shadows" is about Giselle, a 18 years old girl and her journey into a supernatural world she didn't even know existed, a world ful...more

Within the Shadows a book of conundrums and it’s not your usual vampire novel. On the one hand you are starting with a naïve schoolgirl who has failed to see something lurking in the shadow’s of her best friend’s personality; on the other hand she is a feisty woman who is not afraid of taking responsibility for her own life, even if that does mean she does some pretty strange things. The book is full of unexpected twists in the plot that leave you wondering where on earth you might be taken next...more

This book is fangtastic (pardon the pun). Once I started reading it I couldn't leave it alone.I have read all the other Vampire ones like House of Night, The Vampire Acadamy, The Vampire Diaries, The Sookie Stackhouse Mysteries and of course the Twilight lot and this stands up to the others. In fact it is very much more adult not for under 15's I would say (I am a mother of 4), the sex scenes are quite something and are racy. I love this book and look forward to reading more from this new author...more

Over the past two days, I read Ms. Lynch's Within the Shadows, and I must say I was not disappointed. Going into this read, I knew the book had large shoes to fill from my last read...and I was pleased. This tale gripped me from the beginning, stopping me from dishes, laundry, and disregarding daily household duties. Lynch's world is one that will immediately suck you in and I loved the "I wonder what will happen next?" factor the author maintains throughout the storyline. Just enough carrot was...more

It's a good vampire story with some aspects to the story line I feel. I do like the fact that the author wasn't afraid to delve into the sexual aspects. I'll admit I wasn't as much of a fan of the love triangles that were central later on though. It was probably the only part of the book I didn't like all that much. This book, for all intents and purposes, is a romance story. The suspense and horror aspects were well done and it's what kept me reading.

OMG it was epic I loved it there were twists and turns to always keep you guessing. I won't tell you what the book is about but I can promise you that this book will be an emotional roller coaster for anyone who wants to read it. I loved this book and would enjoy reading it over and over. Thank you Julieanne for writing such an incredible book. It really teaches us that life can be treacherous and even your closest friend can turn on you.

Within the Shadows had me lost within a fantasy world, that I never wanted to escape from.
Giselle commanded my attention from the very first page, while Alex seemed sincere and sweet.
From chapter to chapter, my opinions changed, my breath was held and my knuckles white from such a gripping storyline.
I am eagerly anticipating book two!

In the shadow is the debut novel of Julieanne Lynch. It’s about a stereotypical teenage girl, Giselle. She is what you can call the girl next door!!! She’d been happy, until the betrayal of a long time boyfriend or so she thinks!!! Heartbroken and trying to deal with her first break up, A second betrayal from her best friend and anchor slammed into her, thrusting her into a world of strange things, night creatures… Vampires, shadows and…

The first book in the Shadows trilogy by Julieanne Lynch and it will leave its readers wanting more immediately upon completion.

Giselle is not your typical heroine. She's unique, just like her name, but boy does she get into some trouble. That trouble all revolves around her bff Alex, who we learn is not what he seems and her boyfriend Marc. There's a lot of betrayal here, from both guys and when one turns out to be a vampire...and a not so nice one, things really get tricky.

LOVE:
This book is very dark, very twisted. It's filled with deception, sex, and betrayal. Julieanne did not sugarcoat anything in this story. I believe that's what makes this story beautiful.

NO LOVE:
I felt like the entire book was a very long introduction of the story. It took a while for me to fully understand the sick and twisted world that Giselle entered. There were just so many dark things happening to her. And by the time I was getting the story, I was alre...more

MY REVIEW
I downloaded this one when it was FREE on Amazon! I do talk to the lovely author Julieanne on facebook and thought it about time I read and reviewed one of her books. I do wish to state that just because I speak to this author online, this has in no way affected my review. My review is my totally honest opinion.
The cover gives off a haunting feeling to me and I would say the woman on the cover is of course Giselle. I like the cover as to me it represents a scene or two from within the b...more

I won this book in a giveaway, and wasn't sure if I'd like it at all. I was wrong. This was so different from a lot of the books I am used to reading, and at first I was a bit skeptical about the whole vampire-turns-girl-into-vampire scenario. By chapter 3 I was hooked and the unknown author had won me over.

The constant action, twists and turns kept me thoroughly entertained and for a reader who always seems to find flaws in debut authors work, I couldn't in this authors case. The unique twist...more

Giselle, a young teen, is ripped from the life she knows and thrown into a world of crazy and manipulative vampires. What's even more crazy? She wasn't given a choice in the matter. Her journey into this new world leaves me with mixed emotions. Giselle is very smart mouthed but easy to persuade. She's very submissive. She seemed very immature for an eighteen year old but the events that happen to her make it some what understandable.

The book gives a new look on vampires. I wish the story went mo...more

I am going to do something I hate doing; I am going to mention another book in relation to this one. Do you know Twilight? Did you like it? Did you hate it? If you hated it, you will probably love this. If you loved it, again you will love this.
If you do not know Twilight, then I .... Well then I rest my case!
This book is nothing like Twilight, it has Vampires and it has good and evil. But these Vampires are not nice, they do not sparkle and they do not play games.
I felt horrible for the main c...more

Today's review is on In The Shadows by Julieanne Lunch

In The Shadows is by far an excellent book. At first I wasn't sure about what it was about, but by the end of the third chapter I was in for the long haul. It is an excellent addition to anyone's vampire collection.

There are so many trials that poor 18 year-old Giselle Bergman must face. The betrayal of her boyfriend Marc, her best friend Alex, and others around her it drove me to tears twice!!

Giselle is brought into the world of vampires in...more

This book is in the air for me. There were many parts of it that I liked but there were also many parts that I did not like.
Pros
I liked the idea behind the book, that there are multiple types of Vampires in the world. That there are those that are humans who were turned, there are those who were born with a Vampire “gene” I think it said, and then a new breed that is the focus of this novel. At least for me this is a little different and gives life, pun intended, to a genre that is starting to...more
