So for awhile now paranormal/urban fantasy was starting to get so predictable. Girl meets super hot guy, girl falls for super hit guy. I really had mixed emotions with Within The Shadows. It started out really good; Giselle's boyfriend, Marc, was caught cheating and her sexy best male friend, Alex, comes to the rescue.

This book is very dark, very twisted. It's filled with deception, sex, and betrayal. Julieanne did not sugarcoat anything in this story. I believe that's what makes this story beautiful.

This story had turns at every corner but it wasn't confusing. Sure, I still don't know who Giselle should really trust anymore but that's what makes In the Shadows so exciting.
I was a bit surprised at the turn of events when G first ran away from Alex. Leonid was not someone I was expecting to come into the picture the way he did. It just sucked that Atarah was so hateful.

In the Shadows author Julieanne Lynch weaves together a fascinating tale. Told from the point of view of 18 year-old Giselle Bergman, we follow her through a labyrinth of mystery and deceit as her world is unraveled by a lair of vampires.
In The Shadows sits firmly on a foundation of strong characters, interesting plot twists and credible writing.
I highly recommend this book.

I won this book in a giveaway, and wasn't sure if I'd like it at all. I was wrong. This was so different from a lot of the books I am used to reading, and at first I was a bit skeptical about the whole vampire-turns-girl-into-vampire scenario. By chapter 3 I was hooked and the unknown author had won me over.

Julieanne's book "In the Shadows" is the first book in the Shadow's trilogy, and what a way to start off a series. This book had me sucked in right from page one. I haven't read Urban Fantasy before and was glad I once again went out of my comfort zone again. I have been doing that a lot lately, and haven't been dissapointed yet. It's allowed me to read new Author's and fantastic books like this one.

I do wish to state that just because I speak to this author online, this has in no way affected my review. My review is my totally honest opinion.

Giselle, a young teen, is ripped from the life she knows and thrown into a world of crazy and manipulative vampires. What's even more crazy? She wasn't given a choice in the matter. Such an interesting writing style! Thoroughly enjoyed the story line. Had a few "what just happened?!?" Moments and now I am patiently waiting for the sequel because of the cliffhanger ending!

I do have to say this was a very good book, but to me it is not suitable for YA there is a lot of explicit content in here. Hmmm, what if I say the leading lady makes me wanna slap her-hard! Hahaha ok, first, I totally get being scared of a vampire. I mean they are scary!! But Giselle is so submissive, yet she has a total mouth on her, lol! I will say I enjoyed this book for the mere fact that I STILL have no idea who exactly is a bad guy and who is a good guy!
