Bottom Line - The Light of Asteria is a powerful mystery to behold, it had me weeping with intense pain, and laughing with the joy of the years passed, it wrapped my emotions up, and expelled them out of my body, in away that I have never before experienced, I can only hope that one day, my daughter finds the love that Nora did, she deserves it...and though it's selfish, and not of the right intent, I hope one day I can find that love again too. It's powerful and there's only a few books that I...more

I found out about 'The Light of Asteria' through Jennifer S. and soon I started following Elizabeth on Twitter. She is such a sweet person! =) When I finally got my copy of her book I immediately started reading and finished it in two days.

Let me just start by saying: Oh my god! I LOVE this book! This is one of my absolute favorites! Never have I read such a beautiful and emotional book like 'The Light of Asteria'. I loved absolutely everything about it. The characters were wonderful and real a...more

The Light of Asteria, is breathtaking! This story truly was something of perfection. Elizabeth Isaacs, has an amazing way of pulling you into the characters roll. I felt as though I was in the book, experiencing everything at the same time.

The plot was great and the characters were stunning. But what I can't manage to express here, is that The Light of Asteria will leave an imprint on you. There's such a deep devotion and love between Nora and Gavin. There's such a strong undeniable connection...more

Light of Asteria: Kailmeyra’s Last Hope by Elizabeth Isaacs, is a refreshing and enchanting expedition into a fascinating and well-developed land of fantasy. Isaacs has developed interesting characters who come vividly to life on the page, as well as a funny and refreshing romance that teaches young adult’s the value of waiting until marriage for intimacy.

I absolutely love Isaac’s characters, and her pages are populated with them. There is Edna, the wonderful woman who raised her when she was a...more

I just finished The Light of Asteria. I could not put it down! The best word I can find to describe the experience is: Wow... The beauty of Elizabeth's story is unlike anything I have ever read. She has an incredible knack for putting the reader *in* Nora's shoes. You see what she sees--but more powerful, you feel what Nora is feeling. Her love, devotion, and heartache become a part of who you are. I can truly say I have never experienced a story like The Light of Asteria before. The plot is ori...more

“I love you,” he whispered. He took me in his arms and kissed me with such tenderness and commitment that I thought I would surely drown.

Fantasy books for me are a bit out of the norm but when I came across this book, I knew it was one I had to get my hands on. Thankfully, the author kindly offered me a review copy so of course I quickly snapped it up….and let me tell you, I wasn’t left disappointed.

The Light of Asteria is an addictive and engrossing novel that will truly touch you’re heart. T...more

Light of Asteria is not just another YA paranormal book out there that you pick up and enjoy only to put down so you can gobble the next. It's not just another romance story where boy meets girl and they run off happily ever after into the sunset. It is a work of art. It is the book that if I had read it when I was a child, it would have been the reason why I write today. It's just that powerful. It combines love, mystery, passion, suspense, good and evil in a way that makes you question everyth...more

I hadn’t read a Fantasy or a Y.A. novel in a while and I have to say that I absolutely LOVED The Light of Asteria. This was a book that took me completely by surprise and captured my heart. I’m glad I met Elizabeth on Twitter, otherwise I might never have gotten the chance to read this.

Nora is a normal 18 year old young woman, who can’t really follow her dreams of going away to college because she needs to take care of her beloved foster mom, Edna. While helping her best friends get settled on...more

I didn’t know what to expect when I went into this book. I’d skimmed the rave reviews, and noticed many trusted Goodreads friends had given it a whopping 5 stars. Then I started reading and thought this is the type of a book I could crawl into and live. The author’s writing is packed full of so much emotion and detail. While reading I felt an array of such strong emotions triggered by the beautifully descriptive writing. The combination of intense action and emotions made this a very quick paced...more

Everyone should pick up a copy of this novel, and read it, then poke Elizabeth to write and get the next one released sooner :D

This is a truly lyrical novel. The words flow over the page and the pacing is wonderful. It also keeps me guessing, feeding me a little information at a time, enough to keep me hungry for more. It provoked many emotions from me, making me laugh, tear up, feel joy, sorrow, and everything else in between.

This is another of the love at first sight, and touch but it has a pa...more

There are many novels out there that try to combine the fantastical with elemental and paranormal while attempting to remain 'real'. Sadly most of these novels are not as successful as one would hope in bringing these, and many more, elements together to create a beautiful harmonic tale. Elizabeth Isaacs' The Light of Asteria is the EXCEPTION. I will be honest, I was timid when I first started to read this book. While Elizabeth Isaacs' writing is far from dull and horrible, it's synopsis seemed...more

I asked for a review copy from Elizabeth Isaacs upon reading a post from her on Goodreads (she wanted reviewers), and at first I was a bit hesitant. Would I enjoy this read? However, the little reviews out there persuaded me to push forward and ask, and I am SO glad that I did, because had I not done so, I would never have found this treasure.

It is beautifully written, and from the first page, Isaac's eloquent and sophisticated language and form is prominent, though still very much YA. [example]...more

Let me just start by saying THANK YOU to Jennifer S. for recommending this book! It was not even what I was expecting. The cover and synopsis kind of threw me off and I wasn't that interested in reading it, but I am so glad I did.

I also want to say a big THANK YOU to the author, Ms.Isaacs for writing such a wonderful story. I feel like a better person for reading this.

The Light of Asteria was the MOST emotional book I have ever read, hands down. I was choked-up or crying for at least 2/3 of the...more

4.5 stars and all summed up in the phrase O MY GOODNESS! So I had to wait to read this a long time due to the fact the nearest library that had it is in Ohio and I live in Utah (love you long time interlibrary loaning system) and it was definitely worth the wait! I docked it a half star from five simply due to the fact I thought the first like 3 chapters were a tad cheesy (I struggled with the love at first bump concept) but now in my mind make sense now that I've reached the end of the book! So...more

This book was recommended to me by Megan Curd.. (Thank you soo much) I was fascinated by this book from page one! The emotions that I felt reading this book were AMAZING! I started this book and it felt like time just stood still around me.. before I knew it.. I was done. All of the words flow so gracefully throughout the pages. The characters were each special and endearing. The vivid description of all the emotions made me tear up a few times.. and I couldnt help but wish I had the hightened s...more

I'd been wanting to read this book for a while now, and am so glad I finally bumped it up on my tbr list. The story was a refreshing change from the paranormal romances I've been reading as of late. Romance mixed with fantasy, the story takes you on a journey that will tug at your heart, make you laugh and bring you to tears. The author has a lovely voice and a unique way of describing objects and surroundings using senses and color. I was immediately drawn into the story and captivated by the c...more

LOVED this book! There are very few books that come along and speak to you, not shout out you, but speak to you like this one does. Nora and Gavin's relationship has you rooting for them from the first moment they meet. The undertones of this book, forgiveness and self sacrafice, are so quietly and intricately woven that it's not until you finish the last paragraph that the full impact of the words hit you and stay with you.

LOVED it!

The concepts in this book are an elegantly conceived love story. When Nora meets Gavin, she is stunned by their otherworldly first encounter. As she comes to know him and those like him, she learns of a connection that can exist that is intensely spiritual and emotional as much as physical. The pure, light-filled passion that exists between the two of them keeps the reader interested in what will happen to their celestial-like love, wondering anxiously how they will be able to become one.

(Review part I written at 4pm)

I hate to say bad things about books. Blame my 4th grade teacher who chastised me about folding over pages and bending back covers, or my 7th grade teacher, who promptly silenced any rebukes from our class with "If you think you could write one better, go ahead and try don't just bring down other's efforts." So when I find myself 266 pages into this book and can't help feeling bludgeoned with how similar it sounds to Twilight ($@#*&!), it's hard for me to keep r...more

WOW! WOW! WOW!....... Did I mention WOW!? This is like no other I have read. It is a book of pure and raw emotion.

Elizabeth uses the strengths of colours and elements to help the reader visualise every aspect of the book. The senses are in overdrive with this book. I truly felt apart of the story. And yes.... I cried. There were two parts that I shed a tear for - one of sorrow and one of relief.

Nora is a wonderful female lead that grows spiritually, emotionally and even physically throughout the...more

4.5 Stars for this book!!!

I must start by saying the book blurb doesn't begin to show the reader what they are instore for. The words that came to mind when I finished this book were , deep love, passionate, pure, spiritual, emotional, at times peaceful.

18 year old Nora Johnson lives with her foster parent Edna. She loves her like a mother. They have a beautiful bond. Very early into the book you realise Nora is special. Nora has a gift that reveals itself to the reader over chapters.

The Light of Asteria was nothing, but exquisite. I believe there are 3 different kinds of authors out there…ones that are good writers, and ones that are good story tellers. There are the books that, yes the authors writing is amazing, but the story itself is nothing exciting or throat gripping. Then there are the authors that while their writing could use some work, there imagination to tell an ama...more

This review originally appeared on www.bookloversinc.com:

I downloaded this book from B&N.com a few months ago, I don't remember if I purchased it as one of their free book promos or if it was at one of those insanely cheap promo prices. What I do know is that I didn't pay the full price, and I wasn't expecting much from it - other than a little bit of romantic entertainment. I was pleasantly surprised and it taught me a lesson about not prejudging books by their price. To be completely honest...more

Love. Love. Love.

The Light of Asteria is such a beautiful novel. Read the first page and you'll immediately be greeted with an intriguing background story. And then we are introduced to Nora and Gavin, our two protagonists. I will sum up their relationship using one word: Intense. From the very first moment they've met up to the end, both Gavin and Nora are emotional characters and readers won't be able to help themselves and be emotionally invested in them. I wa...more

My Summary:

Nora Johnson's life changes the day she literally runs into a gorgeous guy with emerald green eyes on campus. She's been helping her friends move onto campus but she has to go back home to the community college. Not that she couldn't get into a big school, it's just...well... complicated. Disappointed to leave her friends, she hurries off campus only to run into Gavin. The wave of emotions and change that heats through her is tangible. She hurries off expecting to never see him again....more

Way back when, a fellow blogger suggested I check this title out. I didn't have my kindle yet and sadly every time I went to my local bookstores it was never in stock. I try to keep ordering online to a minimum (because I always get carried away) so I moved on to other titles. Recently it popped up as a recommendation for me on my kindle based on the other books I'd recently read. When I saw the low price I couldn't resist any longer. After chapter one I was so hooked I wanted to smack myself fo...more

The Light of Asteria is an incredibly inventive story. The mythology and folklore surrounding it are easy to get lost in. Elizabeth Isaacs has created a wondrous world where magic exists. One where pureness of heart and good intentions have all the power, and where bad intentions can lead to unimaginable darkness and evil.

The characters of The Light of Asteria were fabulous! I really liked Nora. She was a great heroine, incredibly determined, and she was smart. I also really liked Gavin, althoug...more
