Oh the joy and diversion of an entertaining time travel/romance novel. I just love to dive into a book where you have to suspend any semblance of reality and just go with the fun. This is, I think, the third book by Ms. Mayhue that I have read and I was not disappointed. Her books are tales of the Faery and mortal world all mixed up with folk finding their SoulMate; the person that completes you. Sometimes the two happen to live centuries apart but that doesn't stop love.

Recommends it for:
Fans of paranormal romance, daughters of the glen series
This is a spin off series from Melissa Mayhue's Daughters of the Glen series. For new readers it may be confusing as several events in previous books are relied on to set the stage and could be confusing.
I liked the move away from the Fae-descended heroes and heroines. This was still full of all the tension and twists that are Mayhue's traditional forte. I felt like the whole Northman/Odin thing was interesting and I was disappointed that it wasn't really developed.

I enjoy a great Highlander story and the premise for Warrior's Redemption was just awesome. A little bit of magic, a little bit of Faerie, a little bit of time travel and a whole lot of Highland Warrior made for a wonderful romance story.
I briefly met the author Melissa Mayhue in June 2012 at a Readers & Writers Convention. I attended one of the workshops she helped facilitate. Melissa Mayhue talked about the research that aut...more

Review of Melissa Mayhue’s Warrior’s Redemption
By M.L. Guida
Melissa Mayhue starts a new series, The Warrior, which is a spin off from her Daughters of the Glenn Series. Her first novel in this series is Warrior’s Redemption. The hero is Malcom MacDowylt, laird of Clan MacGahan. He holds himself responsible for his first wife’s death, Isabella MacGahan. In A Highlander’s Homecoming, Isabella time travels into the future and lives with her husband, Robert MacQuarrie, living in present time, but Ma...more

Warriors Redemption by Melissa Mayhue is an enticing and entertaining read. She quickly reminded me of why I love time traveling & Highlander romances. I enjoyed reading this story in particular because of the inner conflict going on with Malcolm. I like complicated characters with complicated lives and he is one of them. I also thought that the addition of Norse and fairies within the story was interesting and fun. This is the first book that I've read by Mayhue and I'm excited that this is...more

The pairing of a hunky and hearty Highlander man and a modern day (not quite damsel in distress) woman makes for quite an intriguing match. Dani’s character does possess a gustiness you would expect from a contemporary woman, but I found myself hoping for either more humor or more ingenuity from her. Malcolm on the other hand is much more progressive than I would expect of a man of his time, but his honor and humility make him very appealing. I eagerly anticipate book two in this series, as it w...more
This book is one of a series of books about heroines who are related to, or helped by, faeries. They are time travel stories. This one is about a modern girl, Dani, who has believed in faeries since she read books about them as a child. Dani leaves them bowls of milk and hopes they'll help her find her purpose in life.
The hero, Malcolm, is from 1294, and that's where Dani ends up, thanks to the faeries' help. Malcolm is trying to rescue his sister from his older brother who is holding her for ra...more

“Warriors Redemption” is a spinoff from Melissa Mayhue’s Daughters of the Glen series. I was totally surprised that this book was not a continuation of the Daughters of the Glen series, as the hero in this book, was from an earlier book in that series (A Highlanders Homecoming). But Mayhue wins you over very quickly. Pretty much everything in this new storyline is similar, with a wonderful Highlander hero; his soulmate from the future, and the story taking place in old time Scotland.

Malcolm, Laird of his Scottish clan has bigger problems then a visiting mother in law spouting off about fairies and magic. War is coming and his focus should rightfully be there. When his meddling mother in law Eleysria warns him of a girl who he must rescue he dares not to brush her off. Who he finds is Dani, a woman from the future with no idea how she came to be 700 years in the past, and in Malcolms strong embrace.

I love Highlanders. Whether they're in their own time or ours. I love time travel romances. The rush of the past colliding with the present makes for a laugh out loud read. Hellooo! Communicating and using modern phrases that confuses the other person gets giggles out of me.
Reasons to Read This Book:
1. Highlanders. I mean, I just wanted to have this one reason and I know you'd read it because of their super awesome alphaness but Malcolm 'Colm' MacDo...more

I could almost stop right there, but absolutely can not. I can tell the worth of a book by the amount of time it takes me to devour it. The jewel of Paranormal Romance took me 3 hours. Melissa has created a wonderful spin-off series from her Daughters of the Glen series, but Warrior's Redemption can stand quite alone on it's own two feet.

What happens when modern day is transported to ancient Scotland and lands smack dab in a dangerous family feud?
You are given a wonderful love story full of fairy's and accent's combined is what happens.
Malcom's already lost one wife and blames himself entirely over it, despite the opinions of others. Because of that his heart is closed off to the female sex, after all once bitten twice shy so the saying goes. It doesn't help that his thoughts are otherwise preoccupied with how to fight the elde...more

I thoroughly loved Malcolm and Dani’s story and as the beginning of a new series this book hits all the important points and was a home run. The myth and magic in the story give that extra bit of spice, but at its heart Warrior’s Redemption is about just that. The redemption of a man’s soul as he accepts that he isn’t all powerful, but he is strong enough to protect those he loves as long as he believes in himself. Dani is the one woman that could bring him to trust in himself again and she is d...more
I gave this book 2 stars, and I was being nice. I've liked past books by this author so I was shocked about how I felt. I had trouble getting into it and found myself not caring about the characters. Which left the book flat for me. This is a book club pick and I have 3 days to go before its club day. Will I even remember anything?
The book was ok, and I enjoyed the story well enough but it failed to grab hold and keep my attention till the end. There is all the making of a great story here... family feuds, Fae, elfs, time travel, betrayal, romance, vengeance and the promise of a grand battle(that never happens and if it did I sure as heck missed it). But some where though out the whole story there was a lack of passion and a strong male lead. Malcome (leading male) spends most of his time bemoaning the fact that he percei...more
Good solid story. I liked it. Of course anything that can keep me immersed in the story right now is excellent. Missed seeing some of the old cast of characters; didn't realize this was a new series (not Daughter's of the Glen) until I'd finish. Nice light story perfect for warming up a cold winter night.
It took me a couple of chapters to get into this book, but once I did, OH BOY! I couldn't put it down. There was romance and history and intrigue and a little mystery as well. It was well written and Ms. Mayhue seems to write in a lilted voice that almost sings out. I am currently reading the second in the series and am thrilled with the fact that my next 18 books are pretty much picked out for me.
Finally read Warrior's Redemption, now it's time to move onto the next one. Melissa Mayhue has taken a slight turn from her Daughter's of the Glen series and is moving a little darker with her Warrior's series. Melissa has kept some of her characters and her world building from her previous series, butin this series Norse magic combines with Faery magic, and of course a time travel romance. Great read!
How I wish I could time travel! I've always felt that I didn't belong here in this time and place, but in another far back in time.
Since Dani was a child, she has wished to be in another time and place. She has called on the fairies and they have finally answered, sending her back to 1294 in Scotland and right into the arms of Malcolm MacDowylt. He has no need of a woman feeling like he doesn't have what it takes to totally protect one. He finds his soul mate in Dani and they find themselves fa...more

A spin-off from the Daughter's of the Glen series, but still ties in loosely with the characters. A light and easy read, funny, and enjoyable. Strong women characters and strong men, without going overboard into irritating. Looks to be another interesting series by the author!
A preview of the next book does the sister's story, with one of the characters from the Daughter's series. Can't wait!

I was extremely happy when I saw that Melissa had given Malcolm his own book. First introduced in A Highlander's Homecoming, I really thought there was so much more to the guy and WOW did she give it!
I loved the introduction of all the new characters and the venture into the Viking heritage. All the different twist and turns I swear I hated one person only to like him in the end and hate the other. AWESOME!

Melissa Mayhue lives in Colorado, in the shadow of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, with her family, two insanely spoiled dogs, one domineering cat, a turtle with an attitude, and way too many fish in their aquarium. If any one thing is obvious about the books I like best, it's that I love my Happy Ever After endings!!
