I really enjoyed this story, because it made me think about what it takes to have a good relationship with others and with God. Some may say this story was a tear-jerker, but it is also one of spiritual and emotional healing. I read Gift From the Heart because I enjoyed the first book in the Sisters and Brides series, and now I am hoping for a chance to read the third book soon.
This is I think the first in a three book series about three sisters who have lost their aunt. In her will, she stipulates that the three sisters cannot claim their inheritance until they finish six months of service work in various locations in the U.S. Also, it so happens that each sister has a troubled man that they will be working in close contact with for the entirety of the six months. This was a depressing book. I understand that people have to go through some very hard times, and that it takes time to heal from them. I also understand that a romance novel generally doesn't keep this much depressing emotional baggage through the entire book. I seriously was almost crying reading this book. After I read the first book in this series I was excited to read the second. I really enjoyed this book. I would have gave it 4 stars instead of 3 if Clare's background had been a little less tragic. I read the love inspired series because I like uplifting reading escapes and Clare's background was really depressing to read.
