Jake's Review: The illustrations are really, really funny. It is a kiddie book not for boys like me (mom's note: Sure Jake I totally saw you laughing) but I think Jesse would really like it and my Mom because she is so silly. I did find it funny because I am a boy and we boys like this potty humour sort of stuff. I really liked the part with the camel because he looked so funny with his pants full of sand and trying to hold them up. I didn't like the picture of the hippo because it was way too g...more

ISBN: 978-0-545-45396-7

The Underpants Zoo is full of all the animals you would expect to see in a zoo, except they are all wearing underpants. The language is simple with a basic rhyming scheme. The pictures add further possibilities for discussion with the creative decorations which represent a characteristic in common with the animals wearing them. All the characters are cute and happy, the rhymes are catchy and bouncy, s...more

This is a book guaranteed to not only make your kids laugh, but anyone who reads it. I was pleasantly surprised at how funny this book is. The brightly colored illustrations match this laugh out loud story perfectly. I'll just say it, do NOT judge this book by it's cover.

The Underpants Zoo appeals to younger kids, as the colors capture their attention and the rhyming dialogue is not only entertaining, but engaging. Slightly older kids (K-2nd graders) will enjoy reading it, as ma...more

Well, the little guy is 3 1/2 and still in diapers. He has no interest in switching to underwear although he is doing pretty good on the potty training front. I will probably bring this book back out in a few months to see if he gets the hint. He liked the illustrations and was laughing along with me as we were reading this today.

Many of the kids I know love to laugh...and they often laugh when the word "underpants" is used in a book. Well, this book has the word "underpants" all over the place. And what could be more funny than a zoo-full of animals all wearing underpants? I can't wait to share this with my storytime kids.

This book was fantastic! My 3 year old loved it. Kept her engaged and introduced new words to her that she hadn't seen before. She spent 5 minutes talking about the "absurd monkey", "absurd elephant", etc. Lots of things for her to pick out in the illustrations to talk about. Fun with rhymes.

What a riot! Kids will love this book. The illustrations had me laughing my pants off (well, figuratively speaking). My favorite was the the elephant's Extra-Jumbo Gigantic underpants! This is a must read for any kid or adult. Brian Sendelbach, you have outdone yourself!

Kids get huge belly laughs from this absolutely silly and adorable book. Brian Sendelbach's rhymes are simple and his illustrations are too funny. There is something humorous about seeing animals in underpants, and children are a-okay with that. Recommended for ages four and up.
Jennifer
Although the rhyming text is kind of clunky, the illustrations are downright hilarious. Kids won't care about the text because they'll laughing too hard at the pictures to hear it anyway. I'd pair this one up with Chicken Cheeks for a funny storytime.

Have you ever been to a zoo where the animal wear underpants, just like people? Yep, this one went over big. If you need some silliness in your storytime, I highly recommend Sandelbach's The Underpants Zoo.

My students adored this book! They all drew a picture of an animal in underpants when we were done reading the book. Underpants and boys are always a hit!!

Hilarious. Absolutely no point whatsoever, but just sheer fun. All the animals are wearing outlandish underwear and the illustrations are hysterical.

A little bit too short, I wish it had a few more pages. But my 4 year old loved it and we all got a good laugh from the pictures and the rhymes!

Invites the reader to visit a new zoo, where each of the animals sports underwear suited to his or her own personal style.

Cute, but I would have liked to have seen more. The book had a lot of potential but never really got to a place to reach it.
Angie
Kids will think this one is hilarious. And "ants in the pants" is kind of funny.

Just not enough in the story for me. :/
Molly
Very cute. Had a hard time explaining what a sloth was, though.

Why do kids love underwear references so much?? :)
Kathryn
Very cute! The animals at the zoo all wear underpants. Very nicely illustrated. Kept my son entertained.
Michael
Fun book about matching zoo animals and underwear. The book will have strong appeal in primary classrooms.
