Friends shouldn't let friends write books. That's all I'm sayin'

The Last Good Knight is a timeless, boisterous, rollicking adventure. The narration has almost a lyrical tone - which is quite fitting and gives the feel that the reader is being regaled by a travelling minstrel.

This book does nearly everything well, but one small detail that I found interesting was that the names of people and places are imaginative and descriptive and the reader imeediately has a sense of the person or place simply from the name. There is a lot of action and the descriptions o...more

The story is set in medieval times, is well written, and given a unique twist with all the romances involved. I am not a student of medieval history, so I do not know how accurate the depictation of all the female sword fighters/want-to-be knights is, but the addition of the strong women and strange creatures is not distracting, if fact, at times quite interesting. It is definitely a fantasy, and a well written one. Each character has a story, and the author has woven them together nicely.

The story follows Julian Lackland--the last Good Knight. It is a series of adventures strung together that tell the story of his life. Jasperson invented a world full of characters that make the reader laugh...and make the reader cry. The Last Good Knight...manages hints of Authurian Legend, without trying too hard to.
Ross Kitson
The Last Good Knight is an atypical fantasy novel, equal measures historical-style fantasy and equal part epic fantasy, in the sense it has monsters and magic.
The prose of the book is delightful and lyrical and mixes humour very well with the sometimes graphic action. The tone felt almost fairy tale in quality at stages, but twisted like Gaiman or Connolly. The story held me through to the end, even with all the romantic bits!
There were points where I worried that Lackland was too perfect, but w...more

I'm not gonna lie and say my initial interest wasnt because I heard there was a gay story line.... That being said, the whole story in general was just alright. The book is kind of a fantasy/adventure story on a diet. I felt as though the author could have gone so much deeper into just about everything, from the world she created, to the relationships between the characters, to the action scenes where legendary knights battle fantastic creatures (scenes that end up reading as mundane and slight...more

The Last Good Knight is a little bit (okay a lot) out of my typical reading/genre range, so I was a little nervous when I picked it up. I shouldn't have been! Connie J. Jasperson's characters are so well-drawn and engaging that they sucked me right into the story.

We've all read about heroic men but what was particularly engaging about The Last Good Knight, for me, is that Jasperson's female characters are just as brave and heroic as their male counterparts. This book was an easy read and I look...more

The world was interesting, but this read more like a first draft than a final product. I tried my best, but I was not able to get past the first half.

I liked the idea of the story mainly and then the characters.
