Every house holds a mystery.

Behind the door, beside the stove, under the stairs, along the roads — Hobgoblins have been the helpful housemates, neighbors, and friends of humans for thousands of years. But beware! This lovely, amazingly lavish book is a guide to hobgoblins in their many forms. Reading a book like this one, that deserves to be studied and pored over, reminds us that the physical beauty of a book cannot always be replicated in an e-version. The art is astonishing and the information is interesting. I wish the author had given some source notes, since it is hard to tell what may have been completely made up by him, and what has been pulled from literature and lore. Elementary, junior high.

This is one of those books that I would give to kids who liked the Dragonology Companion Books (as in not Dragonology but the smaller book that has more "information" about dragons). Only this is about Hobgoblins. The art is great. It makes me think of the Spiderwick Chronicles hobgoblins. And lots of fun "facts". Like I said, kids who like those "ology" companion books will like this.

So fun! As a lifelong fan of spooky folklore -- and goblins! -- I say this is a great addition to the children's nonfiction "field guide"-type literature in that vein.
