Sometimes natural predators need to be kept in check, and for that, there's Ryann David. Orphaned as an infant and raised by an exiled branch of the church to become a warrior for God, she and her fellow members of Venatores Daemonum have trained all their lives with only one purpose: destroy all demons in the mortal realm.

But when Ryann and her team are sent to hunt down...more

You think sacramental wine is great, just wait ’til I introduce you to Baileys.”

Who would have thought having a nun as narrator of an Urban Fantasy book would work so well?! Not me, that's for sure but somehow Skyla Dawn Cameron manages to pull it off very well.

This is the second book in the Demons of Oblivion series and it's about a nun called Ryann David, she lives in an institute for hunters and has been raised to believe anything supernatural is the devils work. But she's not like all the...more

A young hunter out on her own for the first time. Her first vampire kill. Her first look at herself as a killer. Not everything is quite what she expected.

Hunter begins with Ryann’s distorted view of the world. Being raised by the church and trained her whole life to rid the world of demons and vampires it is difficult for Ry to buck the system and realize maybe she (and those who are in charge of the Hunters) were wrong. In the real world very little is truly black and white. So can Ry...more

I recently finished reading Bloodlines and then jumped straight into Hunter so I must admit it took me a couple of chapters to become immersed in the story. I did find it a bit slow in the beginning with all the background on Ryann and her fellow hunters. Ryann was a bit annoying at the start but she becomes more interesting when she has a crisis of faith and has to decide whether to follow the rules as she was taught or do what she knows is right. Zara makes an appearance and the action picks u...more

Hunter is the second in the Demons of Oblivion series by Skyla Dawn Cameron. I really enjoyed the first (Bloodlines), and was anxious to read the sequel.

Let me preface this review by stating that I am a friend of the author, and received this book as a gift. However, she did not ask me for a review, and I wouldn't be giving one if I didn't think the book was deserving of one.

Hunter is narrated by Ryann, an orphan who is chosen to become a demon hunting nun. On her very first assignment, Ryann's...more

The second book in the Demons of Oblivion series.

Bloodlines, the first book, was told from the point of view of Zara Lain (a sassy vampire assassin) but this second book, Hunter, is narrated by a totally different character – Ryann David, the demon hunting nun.

In Hunter I found myself completely turned around. From championing Zara in the first book, in this one I found myself wanting her staked and beheaded which I think shows the talents of Ms Cameron’s wordsmithing. Of course, things are nev...more

Like many others, I wondered how Hunter would differ from Bloodlines due to the change in narrator. Zara is loud, snarky and unapologetic. So how would I like the demon hunting nun Ryann?

A helluva lot.

The plot in Hunter is fantastic, taking the reader on a fast paced journey. I love the world Skyla Dawn Cameron has created and the characters who are larger than life. As promised, the books have many threads that come together to create a vivid tapestry. No one is safe, and that's what makes the...more

Ryann is training to be a Venatores Daemonum ~ Demon Hunter. Taking her final exam Christian, Ryann's lovely mentor, and Grace, Christian's girlfriend which is forbidden in the church, think she should pass and give high recommendations. Ryann is Christian's star pupil and Ryann feels he is a close friend. Father Matthew points out all her flaws, showing she doesn't follow the rules and goes on her own. Passing Ryann on Christian's recommendation, their best Hunter, Ryann passes and starts on he...more

I worried about switching PoV from Zara (who I LOVE) to a nun, but the author pulls it off. Can't wait for book 3 :)

Please don't spam me with invitations to read your book. Thanks.
