Fairly good book, but I was disappointed a bit in it after being excited to read John Paul's story.
I liked the plot of the story. It was interesting and kept me wanting to read more. The tie-in to Garwood's previous romantic suspense "Mercy" was cool. And I like the character continuity she has had through these minorly connected books.
What disappointed me was the romance and sort of the depth of the characters. John Paul was fascinating character created in her last book. ...more

Not even my worst enemy.
My aunt passed off a large quantity of mystery/thriller type of hard cover books my way which I tend to read when I have nothing better to do. I should have found something better to do than read Killjoy. I think lost brain cells while reading this "novel." Seriously, it was so bad I laughed out loud (on the train no less) at her clunky, expositional writing style. The story was trite and predictable, which is too bad because the actual story itself had some possibility if it all w...more

KILLJOY – NR
Julie Garwood – 3rd of series
Having survived a harrowing childhood, Avery Delaney chooses a career in the FBI. When her aunt persuades Avery to join her for a week in a luxurious spa and then goes missing, Avery sets out to unravel a strange and terrifying set of events to save her one remaining relative.
I’ve often enjoyed Julie Garwood as a writer of romance novel. However, as a mystery I found the plot unbelievable, and the characters very flat.

Not bad for a quick read. I liked the basics of the story, even if some were a little far fetched. The only thing that really bothered me was how everyone in the book was "sexy as hell" It is not like this was a romance or anything, but I get annoyed when all the main people are so amazing looking that the other people can't help but be drawn to them. of course I read it at about 2 AM so I might have just been sleepy. Kept my interest enough to finish though.

My first foray into the romance genre was a Julie Garwood novel back in high school. I LOVED her books and I owned them all at one time. Since reading Killjoy, I feel like I've grown up and moved beyond Julie Garwood and that made me sad. I didn't like Killjoy at all. Reading it was like watching a Lifetime network movie and I HATE all of them. They insult women's intelligence imo. Killjoy will probably be the last Garwood that I pick up.

This was a pretty entertaining book. The characters were pretty well developed and interesting. Some of the scheming was kinda unpractical and just didn't really seem real. But then again that is not why we read murder mysteries.

Such a good book. I fell in love with it...and the characters, very quickly! Even though I finished it in 3 days, haha. It gets a bit.... I suppose "risque" in parts... but I must admit I deeply enjoyed those parts as well!

I love the fact that Julie Garwood's characters have such sarcasm and humor even the worst situations. I love the suspense of the story but the moments of humor.

I'm probably not going to continue reading this. I got bored on the first 10 pages. Good thing I got the book as a gift.

Not quite a 5 star book, but would have given it 4.5 if I could. An egaging fast read with likable main characters.

This is my least favorite of the Buchanan family series. The story wasn't as interesting as the other brothers.

Basically, it's fine
Yet, it is not as good as other Garwood's novels.
