This was a charming book...

I liked the way they travelled from England to the wild west.

I was chewing my nails a time or two as they searched for the babies...and cried tears when that issue was settled.

Daniel David (or is it David Daniel?) was a lovely extra character...and I loved Hunter!

At one point Victoria throws up on his boots and I really wish I could have seen his face.

I agree with another reviewer who wished that Lucas would have spoken of his feelings a bit more. Instead he drives Tay...more

This was the very first romance novel I ever read...I was maybe 12, 13? I even remember taking it off the top shelf at my library (Central in Lake Charles). And of course, I've been hooked ever sense. It's the reading equivalent of eating a sugar cookie--with happy sprinkles! Garwood infuses humor into her love stories which I enjoy and this is one of her better ones. Very much recommended to those who like romance novels.

This is the first Julie Garwood I read. It was recommended by a friend. Since reading this one I've read others and so far they've all been good. I don't tend to read a lot of books that are set in the times of western expansion or similar time frames most of what I read is set in the Regency era or Scotland from when it was independent from Scotland to the 1800's but every so often when I read the aforementioned they usually turn out good.

Taylor's grandmother, Lady Esther, is dying and knowing her granddaughter will need protection she finds a man to marry Taylor and take her to America. She finds Lucas Ross, an American rancher and mountain man.

I thought this one started out wonderfully. Unfortunately, it lagged a bit towards the middle. But overall, it was a good read. But not, in my opinion, Ms Garwood's best. Compared to other books of this genre (American West-historical romance), I think it stands pretty well.

From there, the story takes the reader from England across the Atlantic to Boston, Cincinnati and to then to the final destination of a tiny frontier town called Redemption.

It is no secret that I am a Julie Garwood fan girl. I can’t get enough of her writing style and the formula she uses to develop her characters. Starting from the first chapter, I’m a goner. Prince Charming was just the same.

Prince Charming takes the reader on a wild journey from London, England 1868 and then across the ocean to America. I adored how Lucas was introduced to Taylor’s friends at the ball. I was intrigued with the characters right away. If I knew Julie Garwood personally, I’d get down on my hands and knees and beg her to make Prince Charming a series where she’d one by one have Taylor’s friends journey across the ocean to marry the men of Redemption, Montana. Oh I’d gobble those books one at a time!

Prince Charming was an exciting read. I really got to know and understand the characters well and I felt all their emotional turmoil. There were times my heart was beating so fast because I was reading at Superman speed dying to know what was going to happen next. Excellent storyline! Prince Charming has a few other side stories that kept everything interesting without cramming too much into one book. Hunter and Lady Victoria’s story was exciting and I was rooting for them to get together. I loved when Hunter, a ½ breed Indian, was trying to explain why they couldn’t be together and he said, “My grandmother was a Crow” as to which Victoria replied, “My grandmother was Irish.” It was perfect and I think I loved them a little bit more after that conversation.

In most of Julie Garwood’s books she includes children into the storyline. She writes them well and they add in a perfect little mix of comic relief. In Prince Charming that is the case with Taylor’s adorable nieces Georgie and Allie. The pair are identical twins and they go on quite a journey themselves. I love how Julie Garwood writes the girls like real children and not as sweet perfect angels. Instead the pair are just like average two year olds testing and constantly pushing buttons while experiencing the occasional temper tantrum. The addition to include an orphaned six yr old David Daniel as the self appointed protector of the twins was genius. His character became just as important to story.

I didn’t want to give too much away about the actual story because I don’t want to block for spoilers nor do I want to ruin this amazing read for anyone who would read this review. I loved Prince Charming and would recommend whole heartedly to anyone who enjoys the historical romance genre.

Nah, cerita dimulai dari Taylor yg terlibat scandal, bukan karena dia kepergok dalam posisi yg tidak menguntungkan tetapi karena tunangannya, William si Marques aka kakak tirinya Lucas kawin lari sama Jane, sepupunya Taylor padahal 2 minggu lagi Taylor - William akan melangsungkan pernikahan. Dan ada Malcom, paman Taylor aka ayah nya Jane seorang Gold Digger padahal seorang Earl tapi mempunyai hutang dimana-mana dan membutuhkan warisan dari Nenek Taylor untuk membayar hutang. Selain itu, ada si kembar Goergie n Allie anak Marian, kakak Taylor yang membutuhkan orang tua setelah kematian orang tuanya di Amerika. Yang lebih mendesak adalah Nenek Taylor yg sedang sakit parah dan menghadapi kematian setiap saat.

Lucas Ross, yg datang ke London untuk menyelamatkan adik tirinya dari kekejaman kakak tirinya sendiri (William). Dengan bantuan Nenek Taylor, Lucas berhasil mengirimkan adik tirinya ke Amerika untuk memulai kehidupan yang baru jauh dari William. Fans of Julie Garwood will love this story.
Not a typical setting for her, but the characters do fit a typical Garwood story.

This one was pretty good. Not as good as some of her other books. But still pretty good. You'll get the synopsis from other reviews, my problem with this book is that it sort of dragged out, and although you like the Heroine, you get annoyed with her complete inability to communicate. This book was equal parts annoying, frustrating and exhausting. The theme was repetition, the plot was boring, and the execution was poor. The paragraphs mostly consisted of short sentences that sounded like a five year old was describing things, and it was tiring to read through.

Another sweet and romatic book by Garwood. Thank you Garwood for bringing relationships and people and love back into romance.

It had a few suprises and the contrast between Regency England and the new Frontier was interesting... I really could feel the peril when the heroine was almost raped in a store front while the owner was robbed. More realistic than many such period pieces. While I liked this novel, I wasn't a big fan of the time period. I was under the impression that this was a regency HR novel when in fact it started off as that and then morphed into a Frontier HR novel. I found my interest waning as the book went on. I did like Taylor and Lucas together, but everything else kind of bored me a little bit. I guess I've figured out that frontier HR romances are not my thing.

Another great book by Julie Garwood. I thought this book was a wonderful combination of humor and drama. I was on the edge of my seat while the twins were missing, yet laughing out loud during other parts. I loved how well Lucas took to the children, especially Daniel David. I loved every single page, every sentance, every word of this book. This is by far the greatest book I've read all year. I loved it! Absolutely without a doubt a homerun for Garwood and a must-keep for me.

I will never tease my mother about the romance novels she used to read ever again! I used to believe that these 'Romance novels,' were nothing but two people having sex at random moments. To count (by memory) I think the two characters Taylor & Lucas made love only about 5 times & the depiction wasn't graphic like the porn industry. It was romantic (well, duh! 'romance novel,' LoL) I have to admit that I was most taken aback by this one. Yes, there's sex. Psst. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that it was amazing. After all, this book was written and released in 1994 and despite the fashion faux pas, there are a lot of things from the 90s that are amazing. This book just joined the ranks! Now to stop babbling and give you a slight story line without giving too much away!

Taylor is a very British girl in the 19th century. Part of a wealthy family full of many types of family members whom I had to giggle because even though my family isn't completely well-to-do, I found myself picturing certain family members as characters in this book. C'mon! Every family has those types of people everyone talks about (:P)! Anyway, The story begins with a very refined ball. I don't exactly remember if there was music, but if there was, I would reckon it was played by violins. It wasn't exactly a party, per-say, as much as it was a gathering because Taylor's grandmother was ailing and this time they did not expect her to make a full, impeccable recovery like the couple times before.

It's very high society! The Girls do not speak of such things that we do openly today and the men do, but they do so in their little circles. What these characters deem as cursing/swear words, we use them today in basic conversation. Well, not the F word or the SHI...word but the others yes. As I stated, Taylor's grandmother is ailing and this time they do not predict she will make a full recovery.

There is a most awkward conversation between Taylor and her grandmother in the beginning. It seems that Taylor's sister and brother-in-law have passed away, but they do not know why. So her sister's two twin daughters are being watched by the nanny until Taylor arrives to collect them. There is a problem though. Taylor must be married to leave the country or once her grandmother passes away, her uncle Malcolm will become her legal guardian. No one expect Malcolm wants to see that happen, so her grandmother (who is Malcolm's sister) decides to arrange a marriage for Taylor to man named Lucas Ross. Her grandmother instructs her to flee via (technically) a cruise ship (but this is the 19th century so, of course, it has those huge wheels at the back of the boat instead of propellers.

When Lucas comes into the picture, he has no idea about the twin girls. All he knows is that Taylor's grandmother chose him to be her husband because she deemed him dependable, sensible and a good man. Naturally tension begins between the two of them and all hell breaks loose. Pandomonium breaks lose when Taylor's and her grandmother's original plan is no longer usable. I can't say anymore without giving too much away but if you read this book, I can assure you that you would love it if you are ok with a little romance, a little sex and a lot of action and description of emotions (as well as incorporated side stories).

And the reason it took me since October to read this book until now was because I got lazy and sidetracked (LoL).

P.S. I should prolly specify that when I say I pictured some of the characters to be that of some of my family members, I was NOT referring to the characters that had sex LMAO

Different for JG historical as it starts off briefly set in the English Ton then moves quickly to American Boston only to end up on the Montana Frontier. But the essentials of character are still very much the same. Stoic but noble hero and clever, feisty heroine determined to be independent- even as she leans on her man. (c'mon what was the point of that?? OH yeah. Added drama between H/h.)

I adore this story.

When Taylor Stapleton becomes the main heir to her Grandmother’s fortune, she agrees to her beloved Grandmother’s plan to protect it and her twin orphaned nieces- marry her off and quickly.

Not as foolish as it sounds as the man her Grandmother finds for her is none other than a honest to God American frontiersman ala Davey Crocket and Daniel Boone. Even though Taylor’s always romanticized the American frontier and even practiced living in a soddy built by her Scottish great uncle, she has no idea who her arranged husband actually is.

Lucas Ross agreed to the crazy marriage for one reason alone, to get enough money to buy off his wretched elder half-brother into releasing guardianship of his youngest half-brother. His younger brother’s life secure (and disappearing completely from the novel after this), he’s ready to get home, ditch a wife he doesn’t need, and get back to his secluded mountain and blessed peace. But along the voyage home he realizes his little wife is more than she seems and that he’s helplessly attracted to her.

Doing the opposite of his orginal intentions, he follows her across America, picking up stragglers along the way who quickly become the family he never knew he wanted.

As for Taylor, some might think Lucas Ross gruff and imposing, but to her, he quickly becomes her one and only Prince Charming.(less)

I love this book. I don't remember too many people being as wildly in love with this book the same way that I was. My sisters weren't too crazy about this book and I thought they were crazy because I loved both Lucas and Taylor. I think the reason that I love this book so much is because it's different from all of JG's other books and it's a very involved story. For me, this story was very refreshing. Lady Taylor's rich grandmother is dying and is desperate to see Taylor married and far away from her evil, money hungry uncle Malcolm. Enter Lucas Ross. He comes to England to fetch Taylor and then off they are to America where he later finds out that Taylor has a hidden agenda. It's nothing shady or anything but the way that Lucas just jumped right in when Taylor called for him, to save her from whatever mischief she had gotten herself into, I loved it. I absolutely loved it. The way that he just shouldered everything and was the man of the house made me sigh my little heart out. He was Taylor's Mountain Man and I thought he was smexy.

Lady Taylor, in her own right was fantastic. A flat out fantastic heroine. The lengths she went to find her family members and the strength she showed when going about everything made me admire the hell out of her. The way that she was instantly the nurturer to those kids and the easy way that she fell in love with them made me a total Taylor fan. She was a great match for Lucas (something that JG excels at) and I loved how she tried to make things right with the people that her sister was mean to.

Overall, this book was just a flat out great book. There were some minor things that I irked my nerves a bit like...WHO THE HELL IS VICTORIA'S BABY DADDY? I mean, there was some mystery behind him and then BAM! Nothing. But aside from that, I adored this book. I adored the setting, the characters and the love that blossomed between Lucas and Taylor. I loved that we got to watch them fall in love, I loved that we were there right in the thick of their romance. It was great. If you haven't read this book then you should definitely fix that. This one is a keeper for me.

More like a 3.5/5 rating for me.

My first Garwood read about Western romance which I felt had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, was lacking a little "something" to make it a 5 star read. The storyline was great and the characters had potential to be unforgettable, however, I found parts of the book to be dragging.

Taylor is desperate to get away from her disgusting uncle who is a selfish, money hungry, uncaring man. Taylor and her grandmother come up with a plan for Taylor to escape to America...more

Shelves: he-loves-me

This one wasn't such a basic story line so I found myself liking it and getting kind of suced in. But, I think that was because children were involved and in need of help so having two girls of my own I could really relate to the anguish Taylor was feeling. This took place during the settling of America so it wasn't my favorite era but still ok.
