A little vampire bat takes stock of all the creepies in the castle and decides he's scarier than all of them! But the creepies? They're not convinced. When they play a trick to prove their point, the oh-so-boastful bat's response is as unexpected as it is exuberant. It turns out the creepies may have created a monster- an absolutely adorable one.

I waited for this to come out as hardback, but it's only a board book. I gave in and now I understand. In Sherry's style, the little bat asserts that he is the scariest thing... but is he? The adorable-ness (yes, I will use it) makes this a good board book fit. My only wish now was that it was bigger for sharing. Still, great to hand out to little ones in October and all year long.

A vampire bat sets out to prove that he is the scariest thing in the castle, and does so by pranking ghosts, a werewolf, a witch, and other castle residents. It's a fun book with clever illustrations, it has likeable characters, and it's a great way for kids to start learning superlatives (-er, -est) and determiners (this, that, those, these).

I love this little board book! It's perfect for a Halloween storytime for toddlers. The little vampire bat is adorable and reminds me of Jonathan Allen's "I'm not scared" owl series. I do wish that the book would expand into a regular picture format, but if not then I'm good with the board book and a little finger puppet.

From the author of I'm the Biggest Thing in the Ocean comes a simple/funny/nonscary Halloween board book. The text invites audience participation in that the text is repetitive (I'm scarier than...) and the audience could provide the sound/dramatic effects. Great new addition to Halloween storytimes with a cute ending.

My three and a half year old made me read this 3 times in a row last night. Any book I can do that with - and not lose my mind - is a good story. Great illustrations and perfect for kids who are normally scared of monsters.

This is a clear favorite with my children -- they laugh hysterically the entire time I read, and ask for it to be read and re-read a million times. I look forward to reading more from this series.

I picked this up while waiting in the grocery store. It's such a cute and adorable story and I love cute and adorable! And the bat really is super cute and unbelievably adorable.

Kevin Sherry creates the cutest books...and this board book is no exception. A vampire bat is the scariest thing in the castle..or so he thinks.

Ya know what? This is a good, not-too-scary, preschool-friendly Halloween book. We can ALWAYS use more of those.

This board book has the same colorful, bold artwork as Sherry’s previous picture books. Here his creature is a merry bat who declares himself scarier than all of the other monsters in the haunted castle. And he does manage to play pranks and frighten all of the others, until the lights go out.

This jolly Halloween board book will appeal to small children with its bright colors, humor and the not-very-scary tone.
