Jason Miller is still in the closet. He's never found a reason to kick the door open, walk into the light of day, and tell the world he's gay. At least that's what he keeps telling himself -- along with a multitude of other solid arguments. As an ad man, he's used to hawking a bill of goods, he just never imagined he'd fall victim to his own hype.

VERVE!

Every damn book by Ethan Day just sizzles with this incredible wit and authentic eroticism. Deft comedy on every page, sometimes every paragraph. Snappy dialogue, hilarious digression, and memorable characters. I wish it were three times as long. And these characetrs could easily have supported 200 pages of badinage and complications. Romantic comedy this glossy and fresh is so rare, you have to forgive me if I want seconds. Verve is a rare thing. I LOVED these characters, loved their worl...more

Well hell! Would you look at the time!
It's testament to just how incredibly amazing this book is...it's 4:55am in my little corner of the world. I could NOT put this down until I had read the very last word.. (both last words!:) Seems "some people" have to have them and some more than one.. :)

Ethan says in his bio: "My fantasy life is now available for public consumption. I'm desperately hoping you're really, really hungry."
Well.... I was when I started this as I ALWAYS eagerly await each and ev...more

I'm wavering between 2 and 3 stars on this one.

It's me really. First I should know better than to read first person and this was really first person.

The story was very, very cute to the point of cutesy. Maybe it's just not fair of me to have an opinion on something so sugary after reading so many angsty, edgy, dark things lately.

The writing was fine, very fast paced and enjoyable enough but there was much to be desired. There was practically no character development, no relationship develo...more

Ethan Day is one of my favorite m/m writers. I like his writing and his sense of humor, but his characters are what sets his books apart from all the others - they are flawed, they make mistakes, but they have undeniable inner goodness that makes you love them and cheer for them no matter what. That wasn't the case this time, at least not for me.

I can't say I actually disliked them but I didn't liked them very much either. Jason is a closeted man. This makes his life increasingly difficult, make...more

I loved, loved, loved this so much that I didn't want it to end. Which it did. Way too soon.

What a Wonderful Coming out book, Was so freaking Funny and I just Loved the Boys!!

ANYTHING FOR YOU is another winner for this author. Full of humor, hot steamy passion and a love that won’t be denied, Mr. Day creates a story that resonates with a reader-be it straight or gay. The writing is tight, the storyline fast paced and the characters are to die for. Ethan Day has a gift for creating characters that resonate with a reader and I, for one, want Jason to be my friend. He was hysterical in his quips and comments and had me rolling in laughter. You know you’ve got a jewel of...more

I loved Anything for You even though I couldn’t stand either of the characters.

I thought Chad was a conniving and manipulative little bastard who believed that he knew what was good for his partner which is something I absolutely hate in a relationship. Jason reminded me a lot of the boyfriend of one of my roomies in college who lived with his wife and kids during the week and then descended on us during the weekend. He’d tell each and everyone what was wrong with us and our lives when he wasn’t...more

This is really a funny book but at the same time it packs a punch. Jason is deeply closeted and Chad is the living ad for coming out. When they meet, their attraction is almost instantaneous, but they both know that Jason's hiding is going to cause them problems.

Jason is the narrator of the book. He has a great sense of humor, but at the same time you can feel his discomfort at not being able to tell to his co-workers and family that he is gay. He is torn in two, because he knows that the lie he...more

The story itself was okay, but one quote really got to me:

You can't ever know anyone completely, can you? I mean, we're ever changing, maturing, growing... Each day we're confronted by new outside influences that have us forever making decisions that take us one or two steps in one direction or the other - continually altering our course.

It's a real dilemma here because Jason is so far in the closet...and yet not. He is out to the world, except his parents, sister, and coworkers. They may seem l...more

Even though I love Ethan Day's writing, the summary of this book just didn't appeal to me and I kept putting off reading it. I didn't think I could embrace a relationship between a closeted male and "coming out" guru. That was a mistake of course since Ethan never fails to disappoint! So even though the relationship between these men and the challenges brought to light by their circumstances are the basis for the story, they were respectful of each other, and their feelings and the way they deal...more

Ethan Day had become one of my favorite authors. Anything for You is fantastic. Jason is a great character. He struggles with being in the closet and can't imagine coming out even to his lesbian sister. He doesn't let this stop him from enjoying life with his circle of gay friends. Jason and Chad were set up on a blind weekend date and hit it off despite Jason's intoxicated antics during their first meeting. They quickly enter a pretty serious relationship. Chad's kind of the poster boy for comi...more

Jason Miller is an adman who has packaged, tagged, and quite convincingly sold himself as a straight guy to all but his gay friends. To put it bluntly, Jason is as deep in the closet as a man can get without falling out the back into a magical land on the other side.

Irony is the name of the game where Jason’s sexuality is concerned, considering his sister is an out and proud lesbian and their parents have fully accepted her sexuality—not that it appears as if it would matter, however, because sh...more

Although it had a few hot or humorous moments, over all, this book really frustrated me. I never figured out why I should like or respect any of the characters, and the romance between Chad and Jason felt forced. I didn't like Chad's pushiness any more than I admired Jason's compulsive dishonesty about his sexuality. I also never figured out why staying in the closet was so important to Jason. I get that coming out can be extremely daunting, but with a supportive family, liberal-minded coworkers...more

Gosh - Ethan Day is the king of funny self-deprecating snark. I find his writing very amusing. I don’t always love his characters (and honestly I wasn’t a huge fan of Jason) but the story itself was a cute, fun read & quite enjoyable overall.

There isnt much to say when it comes to Ethan other than every single book he writes is AMAZING!!!!. He truly has a gift for making entertaining yet endearing characters. Although all his books have humorous characters, they never seem to be the same character, their wit and humor always differs enough that no matter how many different stories you read, it is fresh, smart, and clever. I am not a writer although i have attempting it before. I dont have the stamina for it :( but something that Eth...more

OK, so I allowed myself to get side-tracked from the GB challenge to read another Ethan Day book!

This one didn't have the same "pee your pants" humour in it as Sno Ho or Life in Fusion but I loved it all the same.

Our main character, Jason, is very funny and you can sense his growing awkwardness as he tries to navigate his way through the various barriers and obstacles he has created for himself over the years by staying in the closet (the whole basket by the door idea seemed to sum things up pr...more

This was another comically brilliant story by Ethan Day. Thirty year old Jason Miller is an in-the-closet advertising exec, with no real intentions of ever coming out to his family or his hetro friends. Thirty-one year old Chad Wellington is the epitome of an out and proud gay man; he even gives coming-out seminars. When the two meet at a common friend's lakeside home for a weekend away, they come together effortlessly. After months of dating though, their relationship still has one tiny hiccup:...more

If there were 3 words that could summarize this book, they would be; short, sweet and dramatic. It was a wonderful story. The characters were adorable; the storyline catching and the sex so hot. There was nothing deep about it though. It was light hearted and seriously there was not much plot. If you are looking for a book with a convoluted setting this is not for you. However if you are looking for a novel that both you want to smile and cry at the same time at how cute the character...more

Should be a warning about how you may never be able to drink tea after reading this book. So I would like to say good bye to tea and that you were a dear friend for many years but you have been soiled for me. Luckily I still have my coffee and please never ruin my coffee for me Ethan. (view spoiler)[That said I too, would rather have a chunk of shit in a jar in the closet than an actual baby that poops daily (hide spoiler)]

Very funny book is Hardcore funny. I said Hardcore because I know Ethan...more

Ethan Day has a consistently engaging narrative voice. His MCs are snarky and bitchy, but with warm hearts and good humor. They're a lot of fun to read.

I didn't quite buy Jaason's determination to remain closeted here -- we readers just aren't given enough reason to believe he could have built up all that resistance within his own head. And since that's the major obstacle of the whole story, that's a big problem. Nonetheless, this is an entertaining and quick read.

P.S. -- I added an extra star a...more

Okay - a lot of my friends raved about this book but I was just ho-hum about it for a couple of reasons and some parts just made me angry.

Jason is in the closet but then meets an activist and the King of coming out of the closet, Chad Wellington, at a mutual friend's house. They hit it off because they are both gorgeous of course, but therein lies my first issue. Why, oh why, would an activist, not just an "out" homosexual, but an honest to goodness activist, want to date someone in the closet?...more

This is my first Ethan Day story, and it's been on my TBR pile for a while now. As I expected from the reviews of others, the writing is very good and there's lots of funny, LOL lines. I also liked the fact that the book was not overly long and puffed out with filler. It's around 130 pages on my iPad.

I didn't rank this higher because the main angst/contention in the story drove me a bit nuts. Jason is a man who has never come out of the closet, despite having many gay friends who are out and hav...more

Anything for You is the story of Jason Miller who’s in the closet and who really has no reason to remain there other than he’s stuck in a rut. This story is told in first person through Jason’s eyes and has many humorous scenes that had me laughing out loud.

(view spoiler)[

Even though we didn’t get a deep look into most of the characters’ personalities, the author did a good job of making them realistic. None of the characters were flawless or too perfect. I’d say the closest was Brent, Jason’s

Jason is a drama queen. He's hidden in the closet so much that his whole demeanor grated on me. I didn't like him the first 1/2 of the book. I wanted to tell him, get over himself. By the second have of the book, I felt pity for him. I guess I just don't understand this need to be in the closet or out. Why does anyone care about sexual orientation? I never understood this. What difference does it make? This has always been a confusing point for me. It's a personal thing and really, who's busines...more

One thing I've always admired about Ethan Day's writing is how he can so easily make a comment that appears vulgar or even slightly disgusting into something very funny. While this one wasn't as funny as some of the others I've read by Mr. Day, I still cracked a smile or two over Jason's sense of humor.

I liked this story because of the struggle Jason went through with being an out gay man. The actions and ways he tried to hide his gayness were amusing and even his jealousy over out gay...more

More of a 4.5 than a true 5, only because I had a big issue with something one of the characters did. (view spoiler)[One of Jason's friends, Trent, set him up with a blind date (for the weekend) without telling him. And to top it off, he spiked his cocktail with a valium so he wouldn't get too upset about it. Trent says he did it because Jason's been so bitchy lately. Trent never took responsibility for his actions and he barely apologized. What got me is, he sort of blamed his boyfriend, Brent,...more

Those two guys are just over the top,the story is hilariously funny yet not without depth, it has an out for you plot, the romance is sweet, and the sex scenes are hot - what's there not to like ?
My only niggle was with Jason, who was in the closet and quite stubbornly determined to stay there, which didn't quite fit the way he was otherwise characterized. The closet thing made him a bit of a prick in my eyes. (which he made up for, though, with calling himself self-awarely an asshole... ;-) )

Welcome to Ethan Day's Goodreads Profile. I write mainly contemporary GLBT Romance Novels, but who knows what the future might bring and what other genres I may dive into.

Hopefully, you’ll find my books to be sexy as well as fun. Sex and romance, should be fun! If it isn’t, then perhaps you’re not doing it right.

I hope you love my characters as much as I do. With any luck they’ll inspire you the...more
