3.5 Stars. After reading the authors new ER written as Kit Rocha; it made me want to make another run on the Moira Rogers books - not that there are that many of their books left that I haven't already read. This is a mix of Fantasy and PNR about Wolf Shifters and Lion Shifters.
This was a lovely romance with an erotic edge about a High Lord, his lover, and a spell of forgetting. How Ciar and Sabine's love works around the spell and defeats it makes for an enchanting read.

This novella is set in a wonderful fantasy world with all the things we usually love about Moira Rogers work- sexy shifters. *g* I myself have a very soft spot for those so I was thrilled to realize we would find those in this series too. The setting itself is very dfifferent from what we're used to "Moira Rogers"- wise. We jump headfirst into a world where the 4 shifter nations are at war with each other- or better said the war just ended.

I had no intention of writing up this review so far in advance of the release date for this book. None. Zip. And then the darn thing had to go and make me CRY and now I find that I have no choice but to write about it. Because it's awesome and sweet and heartbreaking all at once. Damn you, Moira Rogers, and the puddly mess you reduce me to.
Oh, this book killed me. Poor Sabine, cursed to be forgotten by everyone, including those that love her most. Ciar, determined to find a way to hold onto the...more

I was given this book for an honest review and my honest thoughts, so here goes...
Ms. Moira is not a new author to me. In fact, I would have to say that Ms. Moira is a go-to author for me. Her skills of making me fall in love, making me feel like I am on pins and needles and simply enjoy her creative story telling has made her one of my favorite authors. She has the unique ability to make you fall in love with her tales of love and happy ever after and it doesn't matter what size her stories may...more

Lord of the forest, Ciar is a wolf shifter and leader. Back from war after 3 years away, he has returned to his home and his love Sabrine. Sabrine has isolated herself because of a spell/ curse cast upon her. A witch hired by Ciar’s mother cast the curse. The spell is cast to prevent anyone from remembering Sabrine, as Ciar’s mother did not want him to mate with her. The spell made you forget who Sabrine is once around her or if she is touched. Now that Ciar has found Sabrine he will try everyth...more
This is a very short read, clocking in at just 41 pages. For such a short novella this really packs an emotional punch. Sabine and Ciar were going to be mated (this was personal choice - they were very much in love) when Ciar got called away to war. While he was gone, Sabine was cursed by her lover's mother. Now no one remembers her - not even her mother.
When Ciar returns from war to find Sabine gone from his home, he immediately searches her out. He's surprised to find her living in a cabin in...more

Sabine by Moira Rogers
* I received this book free from the author*
Sabine was the mistress of the High Lord, Ciar before he left for war. He left her at the castle with orders for them to not to mistreat her, instead she is cursed and no one remembers her, not even her own mother. She is destined to live a life alone, until a wolf shows up at her doorstop.

I received this Arc copy from the author and was seriously happy to read and re-read this quite a few times before I reviewed it. My reasoning why, well I think the warning explains it.
Warning: This story contains cruel betrayal, destined love, vile curses, smoldering reunions, wicked deeds between wanton shapeshifters and a happily-ever-after worthy of any fairy tale.

The dynamic duo that is Moira Rogers strikes again! These talented ladies have the frustrating ability to have me cursing them one minute and praising them the next. The page-turning twists can send me into emotional upheaval. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not a bad frustration. The mere fact that these lovely writers have the ability to make me want to scream in frustration and passion is a testament to the talent that drives their books.

My Review:
This book has a definite fairy-talesque quality to it. A wicked witch, a cruel mother, an awful curse, a lost love, BUT that means that there is a happily-ever-after too.
Overall, this was a highly entertaining read. The storyline is wonderful...full of angst and heartache. You can't help but to feel totally empathy and heartbreak for Sabine. Her entire world has forgotten that she exists for the 3 years that Ciar has been gone. She has been entirely alone that entire time. Then he com...more

This is a light, delightful paranormal fairytale.
The blurb gave me the idea this story might be a little dark, but it wasn't. Instead it was maybe even a bit too light. I never really felt the despair Sabine had of losing Ciar forever.
That being said: The romance between Sabine and Ciar is hot and sweet and they were characters I could care about and wanted to have a happy ending. There are some really heated scenes between the two of them and those were the best parts of the story.

This was my first exposure to Moira Rogers. I'll confess the covers are what attracted me to get it. I think they look so cool and sexy (yes, even though it's only a girl!). So, in the good sense of judging a book by its cover, and even though this is EXTREMELY short, it delivered a pretty good story.
Lets go back in time to kings, and courts, and wars. Ciar was Prince, and he was madly in love with Sabine, but she wasn't of royal blood, and his mom didn'...more

Team Moira Rogers has accomplished something that few authors have done before: They made me cry.
And that's a good thing. A very good thing, in fact, because it shows just how engaged I was with these characters. This is a quick read, but I was hooked from the moment I met Sabine. She's got so much ANGST (all caps serious, yo), and I love that. My heart broke when hers did, and I rarely feel that strongly about a story. That's one reason why this book gets 5 stars from me, because damn. Well pla...more

Lord Ciar returns from war, victorious and anxious to claim his mate, but no one even knows who she is, let alone where she is. He finally ends up in the forest where he finds a ramshackle hut barely fit to live in. The last person he expects to find inside is his beloved Sabine who recoils in horror when he tries to touch her. She eventually tells him about the curse her mother had a witch put on her, making everyone forget her - especially those who touch her. She warns Ciar that he'll forget...more

First off, I’m the type of reader who will try any genre or sub-genre at least once and though I’m not easily shocked by crude language if it's in the tone or context of the book. This short ebook didn’t hit the mark in many ways. This is a shame because there is the bones to a pretty good plot underneath it all.
So the good points of the book?

This is my second book from author duo Moria Rogers that I have had the pleasure of reading and I really need to catch up. Her new series “… and the Beast” starts with the story of Sabine. This is a brand new fairy tale for grownups from Moira Rogers. The world building here is reminiscent of children’s tales, and the romance is sweet and poignant, with sadness mixed into the joy and love.

I admit that I've never been disappointed by the books I've read by Moira Rogers. I'm happy to say, I was once again charmed by the authors' writing. Sabine is a very short but very steamy fairy tale. From the very start you are thrown into this fantasy world and everything just flows right. The world-building was artfully done, you're not crushed by pages of back story, it's just very easy to get into this world.

This is a heartbreaking tale of love lost and found again. The story of a man who goes off to war and returns triumphantly to learn that he has truly lost all that he holds dear, and his battle to get it back. True love? Magic? Which is stronger?
Sabine is courageous and strong, Cian is dedicated and determined. Fascinating characters, fresh twist on spell casting. Entertaining read.

For such a short novella this really packs an emotional punch. Sabine was cursed by her lover's mother. Now no one remembers her - not even her mother. I can't imagine how solitary and depressing that would be.

Overall Verdict
It seems to be a book with lots of potential that was never fully realised. If the book had been longer and the characters better developed I may have enjoyed it more. This book has not made me eager to read more by this author, nor read the next in the series, which is a shame as the blurb promised much.

I loved this short story/novella. The length was perfect for when I wanted to read it. The smut was amazing. I loved the use of the magic and the characters. The premise of the wolves vs lions was interesting (because of cats vs dogs). I want to see more of the world. I am glad that this was my first Moira Rogers book, it makes me excited for more.
